Capítulo 696: Return To The Green Lake Base ( 3 )
“I haven’t seen him since I woke up,” Jin Xuyan replied as he served a bowl of porridge for his fiancée.
Hearing this, Jiao Lizhi frowned and used her consciousness to search her space. After a while, she couldn’t find him and said, “Gaia, check Jiang Ziyi’s location.”
The next moment, a blue screen appeared in front of her. Although she couldn’t find him, he was indeed inside her space.
She looked at the purple dot on the map and heaved a sigh of relief. As long as he was still inside her Space, she was not worried that he would try doing something against her.
Noticing her change in mood, Jin Xuyan asked, “Ah Zhi, what’s wrong?”
Shaking her head, Jiao Lizhi replied with a smile, “Nothing. Brother Yan, after breakfast, I will take you out.”
“Okay.”
After breakfast, the two of them left her space. Since the road had been cleared and repaired by the Phantom Team, Jiao Lizhi took out a car, and they drove back to the Green Lake Base.
Along the way, they would stop to kill wandering zombies or those that trailed behind them. After they were done, they would check the buildings and take away everything.
Even broken furniture was taken away, leaving nothing behind. Although they had collected a lot of zombie corpses as fuel, having more firewood was always good.
They traveled slowly and reached the base at two o’clock in the afternoon. When the guards saw that they had returned, one of them quickly went to inform the Captain, while another guard walked over.
Jin Xuyan lowered the window and nodded at the guard.
“Welcome back, Captain Jin, Comrade Jiao,” the guard greeted them with a smile.
Everyone who was under Xie Zhou knew that although this base was under the Lin’an City Base, it was actually owned by the Phantom Team.
They were only here to help manage the base. That’s why there was only Commander Xie, and there was no Vice Commander yet.
Seeing the guard’s warm welcome, Jiao Lizhi raised her eyebrows. It was common for them to have a good relationship with the base’s guards, but these guards’ behavior was too enthusiastic.
“Captain Jin, Comrade Jiao, please follow me,” the guard said and led them to a separate tent for inspection.
Fifteen minutes later, the two of them passed the inspection smoothly. Before leaving, Jiao Lizhi took out a box of mineral water and a box of biscuits from her Space.
She placed the boxes on the table and asked the guard, “Comrade, did something happen lately?”
Hearing this, the guard thought that they were investigating something, so he didn’t hide anything and told her everything.
“Lately, a lot of people have been coming to our base, and most of them have registered as permanent residents. Besides that, there was a rumor that our base has been selling supplies to bases and camps from other cities.”
“How did you know about this rumor?” Jiao Lizhi asked.
The guard thought for a moment and replied, “Lots of people learned about this a few days ago, but no one knows who started the rumor. We didn’t believe it.”
“After all, our base is new, and we need a lot of supplies to support the residents. How could our Commander sell our supplies to others and let our people starve?” he added doubtfully.
After hearing his words, Jiao Lizhi and Jin Xuyan exchanged glances.
Although the Phantom Team and Xun Che’s team did cooperate to sell supplies, people only knew that the Lin’an City Base was selling extra supplies from their first harvest.
They didn’t know who was so bored as to spread this rumor and involve the Green Lake Base. For a new base, they had to stabilize the people first.
When they were barely able to meet the residents’ demand for supplies, it would be detrimental to their reputation and authority if people thought they focused on profit instead of people’s lives and deaths.
Although this matter seemed simple, it would plant a seed of doubt in people’s hearts. When the doubt grew, it would become a hidden danger that could destroy the base from within.
Reaching this conclusion, Jiao Lizhi chuckled and said, “Well, the Green Lake Base has the Lin’an City Base as support.”
“Even if we did sell some supplies to others, it might just help Commander Xun sell the Lin’an City Base’s supplies. Compared to the amount of crops harvested from the hydroponic farm, the amount is nothing.”
The guard nodded in agreement and said, “What Comrade Jiao said is right. With the hydroponic farm, we won’t have to worry about starving at all.”
Smiling at his words, Jiao Lizhi nodded and added, “Indeed. It’s just that not many people know about this, and they might feel worried. It would be troublesome if some people used this matter to cause unrest among the people.”
The moment the guard heard this, his eyes flashed with realization. With a frown, he said solemnly, “Comrade Jiao, I will tell my brothers and let them inform the residents. We can’t let those people cause trouble in our base.”
“Thank you for your hard work,” Jiao Lizhi said with a smile.
After the brief conversation, the two of them finally entered the base and returned to the Phantom Team’s villa. At this time, everyone was busy with their tasks, and the villa was empty.
When Jiao Lizhi opened the gate, she saw two plots of vegetable garden in the yard. Looking at the green, tender sprouts, she squatted beside the garden and took a closer look.
She grabbed a handful of soil and said, “Gaia, scan the soil.”
“Scanning the object. Scanning completed,” a mechanical voice echoed in her mind.
The next second, a blue transparent screen appeared in front of her. Jiao Lizhi read the information for a moment and muttered delightedly, “I never expected our members to be able to get this soil.”
Feeling curious, Jin Xuyan squatted beside her and asked, “Ah Zhi, is there something wrong with this soil?”
