Capítulo 663: Unexpected Discovery ( 10 )
“Captain, I already noticed the mutant the moment we came to this place. I planned to investigate first before reporting. But before I did it, Beiye and Junjie beat me first,” Qin Luzi said with a smile.
Jin Xuyan didn’t blame him. After all, with so many survivors living in this place, that mutant might be a non-aggressive type, or someone was raising it. Without more information, they couldn’t just eliminate it and risk their safety.
“It’s good to be more cautious,” he nodded.
“Captain, this is the first time we’ve met a level-five mutant. No matter how tame a mutant is, it’s still a dangerous creature. We can’t just leave this time bomb alone,” Yuan Ruiyue said.
After a pause, he added, “What’s more, this mutant might be the result of the Facility’s experiment.”
As soon as he said this, everyone looked at him, and Chen Qianfeng asked, “Brother Yuan, do you know something about this matter?”
Yuan Ruiyue nodded and replied, “When I was working under Pei Xun, I managed to access several confidential pieces of information. One of the reports was about mutant experiments.”
“How sure are you about the accuracy of this information?” Jin Xuyan asked.
“It should be ninety percent since this report was sent by Pei Gan.”
The moment they heard this, Pei Yixie exclaimed in surprise, “Impossible! My Eldest Uncle has been dead for so many years.”
“That’s the false information released by Pei Xun to cover his brother’s involvement with the Facility. He is still alive and is one of the elders of the Huaxia branch of the Light of Dawn Organization,” Mo Junjie suddenly said.
“How did you know?” Pei Yixie asked.
“Because I met him in person.”
Hearing his nonchalant reply, the members looked at him with doubts and suspicions.
Meeting their gaze, Mo Junjie’s eyes darkened as he explained, “A few years ago, my mentor brought me to the Facility and asked me to help them with the research.”
“Back then, I didn’t know that they were doing illegal experiments because they only showed me the rough plan. Since I’m not interested in their research direction, I turned down the offer and focused on my nanotech research.”
Li Qixuan thought for a moment and asked, “Is your mentor Wen Bo?”
“It is him,” Mo Junjie admitted.
“Since you know about their research, why didn’t you tell us before?” Yuan Ruiyue asked.
“Not to mention that I only know they are doing research related to DNA mutation, even if I know, did telling you all make any difference?” Mo Junjie asked him back.
After he said this, everyone went silent.
Not to mention that they didn’t trust each other when he joined the team back then, even if he told them, they wouldn’t take his words seriously. After all, only a handful of people knew the existence of the Organization and the Facility.
What’s more, with their current strength, it was impossible for them to do anything about this matter. Even at this moment, they were still trying to get more people to join the Lin’an City Base and build their strength before they went against the Organization.
While they understood this, the members found it hard to trust him like before. No matter what, he was a disciple of one of the researchers who worked for the Facility.
Noticing the changes in their emotions, Mo Junjie let out a chuckle and said, “I never had any contact with Wen Bo anymore since then and know nothing about what they were planning. It’s your choice to believe me or not, but I will never betray our team.”
As soon as he finished his words, Du Beiye and Jiao Lizhi said, “I believe you.”
Everyone was taken aback when they heard this, including Jin Xuyan. He gave his fiancée a deep look and noticed that she was serious. He thought about their previous life’s experiences and smiled.
If Mo Junjie was in cahoots with the Facility, it was impossible for him to risk his life to create the vaccine for the zombie virus that saved countless lives. This point alone was enough to prove that he was not involved with the Facility.
Reaching this conclusion, Jin Xuyan glanced at his members and said firmly, “I believe that Junjie is not lying to us, and he is not involved with the Facility. Since he joined our team, he has done his best to assist us in reaching our goals.”
After he said this, the members thought about Mo Junjie’s contribution. Although he is often slacking off and very fussy when it comes to food, he actually never did anything that betrayed the team.
Whenever they asked for his help, he would help them without complaining, even when he had to sacrifice his sleep and pull all-nighters for a few days.
“Brother Junjie, I’m sorry for doubting you,” Xiao Qi said with a lowered head.
“Brother, we trust you,” the members said firmly.
Mo Junjie thought that he was indifferent to how the members thought of him. But when he saw their doubts, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
Now that they apologized to him and there were people who trusted him unconditionally, his mood improved instantly. He gave the members a snort and said, “If you feel sorry, then you should prepare a good meal for me.”
The moment he said this, Yu Fuyun nodded and asked, “Brother Junjie, what do you want to eat?”
“It has been a while since I have roasted lamb. It would be great if I could have it for lunch tomorrow,” Mo Junjie said while smacking his lips.
Just thinking about the fragrant, juicy meat, he was salivating. Besides him, the members, especially Fu Guai, were also swallowing.
“I can cook roasted lamb, but where should we find the lamb?” Yu Fuyun scratched the back of his head.
“You can leave the matter of finding the meat to me. For now, we should focus on how to deal with the mutant,” Jiao Lizhi said.
