Chapter 566: Du Fengyan’s Memories ( 2 )

Jiao Lizhi saw herself bleeding as her body was squeezed by the gravitational force. Inside the escape pod, the mechanical warning sound echoed continuously.

“WARNING! Engine failure! The defensive layer will be turned off in three… two… one…”

Before the countdown hit zero, Jiao Lizhi saw a layer of light wrap around Du Fengyan’s body. The next moment, the scene changed again, and she was now standing on the roadside.

She looked around and realized that she was on earth. Not long after, she saw a familiar face. Even though the person was much younger than she remembered, she knew that she was the orphanage director.

Jiao Lizhi’s eyes reddened as she watched the orphanage director pick her up and say softly, “Poor thing, it must be cold staying here. From now on, I will be your mother. Let’s go home.”

She reached out to touch the director’s smiling face, but before she could, the image disappeared. She was now standing on top of a building where she was pushed by Mo Binxue in the previous life.

She stared at her team and saw Li Qixuan’s disheveled appearance. His body was covered by wounds and his clothes were stained with black blood and rotten flesh.

He stood at the edge of the rooftop and swung his dagger as he killed the incoming zombies.

Only when she was standing as a spectator did she realize that her vice captain was constantly protecting her. She watched how Mo Binxue rushed toward her and pushed her down.

After taking her revenge, she no longer felt intense hate toward her anymore. Right now, she only felt regret. How foolish and blinded she was back then to be unable to see Mo Binxue’s hatred and jealousy?

She stood at the edge of the rooftop and was ready to see how she was torn apart by the zombies. But the next moment, she heard the familiar voice coming from behind, “Ah Zhi!”

Next second, the familiar figure jumped off the building with his hands reaching out. It was as if he tried to hold her hands and pull her back.

Jiao Lizhi was stunned as she watched how Jin Xuyan followed her without hesitation. As she was on the brink of death, he used his body to block the zombies’ attack.

BOOM!

A huge black flame pillar shot toward the sky and turned the zombies into ashes. When she saw him kneeling on the ground with only one arm intact, hugging her mutilated body, Jiao Lizhi felt a piercing pain in her heart.

Before the scene disappeared, she met his empty red eyes. At that instant, a thought flashed in her mind.

“Did he turn into a zombie in our previous life?”

Unfortunately, she was unable to get the answer as she heard the system’s voice echoing in her mind.

“Host, that’s the last memory record in the system database before your second space jump.”

“Gaia, what do you mean by the second space jump? Am I not reborn?” Jiao Lizhi asked.

“Host, the system is unable to send you back to the exact time and location due to insufficient energy. We are currently in an alternate universe, also known as a parallel world.”

The moment she heard this, Jiao Lizhi’s heart sank.

After a moment of silence, she asked tremblingly, “Are you saying that Jin Xuyan who jumped after me is not the same person as the Jin Xuyan I know in this world? If that’s the case, then what happened to the other Jin Xuyan?”

Gaia went silent for a while before it replied, “Host, the system detected that during your second space jump, Shrotam, who lived in that parallel world, also followed you to this world. So, the ending for him in that world is death.”

After she heard this, it took Jiao Lizhi a long time to calm down and regain her composure.

She thought for a long time before she asked again, “If he came to this world with me, then what about the Shrotam in the Tarakam Civilization? Without him, there wouldn’t be me.”

“The system has insufficient data to answer this question. But according to the historical record, Shrotam was the last organism alive on the Blue Planet after the great destruction. When the Five Great Commanders found him, he was in hibernation.”

“So, you mean that Brother Yan will still be alive in the future?” Jiao Lizhi said.

“Host, the future where the Tarakam Civilization exists is now your past. The so-called past now is your present and future.”

“Due to your actions altering the historical event, this world is no longer able to reach the future where Tarakam Civilization exists. This world is now a new parallel world.”

After understanding the situation, Jiao Lizhi felt heartache for the other worlds’ Jin Xuyan. Although they couldn’t be counted as the same person, she believed that no matter in which world, he would be the same Jin Xuyan who treated her well and loved her.

“The memory restoration process is completed. System reboot in five… four… three… two… one… zero!”

The moment the countdown hit zero, Jiao Lizhi fell into darkness. She didn’t know how long had passed, but when she opened her eyes, she found herself lying on the bed in the master bedroom.

Feeling a large palm covering her hand, she turned her head and saw her fiancé dozing off at the bedside. Recalling the memories in her previous life, her nose turned sore.

“Brother Yan…” she called out softly.

As soon as the words left her lips, Jin Xuyan opened his eyes and looked at her. The drowsiness disappeared instantly when he saw his fiancée was crying.

He helped her sit up and asked, “Ah Zhi, why are you crying? Are you feeling unwell?”

Jiao Lizhi reached out and hugged him. With her face buried in his chest, she replied, “I’m fine.”

Jin Xuyan was taken aback by her sudden intimacy. Although she agreed to be with him, mostly it was him being shameless and taking advantage to have some intimacy with her. It was rare for her to take the initiative.

While he didn’t know the reason, he could feel that she was upset. He circled his arms around her body and patted her back gently. “Ah Zhi, what’s wrong?” he asked.
