Chapter 561: Princess Carry ( 1 )

One hour later, the sound of the propeller echoed from the distance. The moment the survivors heard this, they raised their heads and saw three military choppers return.

As the military choppers landed, the propeller created a strong wind that raised a cloud of dust. The survivors took several steps back and used their hands to block the wind.

After turning off the engine, Zhang Yuan, Yin Yusheng, and Pei Yixie came out of the choppers.

Standing beside the door, they said, “This time, we will evacuate the children, women, elderly, and the sick people first. The rest will wait for the next batch.”

While the survivors were unwilling to take the next batch, they were not as anxious as before. After all, with their friends still fighting zombies here, these people couldn’t just leave them behind.

With this thought, they followed the order and let the weak and sick board the military chopper first. Unlike the beginning of the apocalypse, the number of children, women, and elderly had decreased by a large margin.

Among more than one thousand survivors, the number of children was fewer than fifteen. As for the elderly, there were only seven people, and the women were fewer than thirty.

Comparing the numbers with the young men, it was a shocking fact. Without women, it would be impossible for them to have babies. Without babies, their population would continue shrinking until human race went extinct one day.

At this moment, not only did the members of the Phantom team realize this point, but even the survivors started to realize the problem.

Since the apocalypse, most of them thought that women were bothersome and burdensome. With their monthly period cycle, the thick scent of blood around them would attract zombies. Not to mention their period products, they still needed painkillers, blood-replenishing food, and warm water.

For them, it was hard enough to find food and water to survive. So most of the men were unwilling to take care of the women. Even a husband would use his wife to block the zombies and escape by himself, let alone strangers.

After they boarded the choppers, the Phantom team’s members closed the door and turned on the engine. As she flew the chopper, Pei Yixie heard the survivors’ thoughts.

When she heard the men’s thoughts, she frowned deeply. She glanced at them and made a note to remind the base about their intentions.

‘After treating the women as tools to vent their desires or a shield to block zombies, now they are even thinking about using the women as birth tools. They sure know how to dream!’ Pei Yixie thought.

Not knowing that they had entered someone’s blacklist, a group of men was whispering in low voices. No one knew what they were discussing, but when the women noticed their gazes, they felt uncomfortable and shifted their bodies further away.

When they arrived at the Lin’an City base, a group of soldiers was already waiting for them. As the guards led the survivors to the gate for inspection, Pei Yixie walked over.

She pointed at several men and said, “Sergeant Wang, you have to keep an eye on them. They harbor bad intentions toward the women.”

Hearing this, Wang He’s eyes turned cold. He glanced at the men, nodded, and said, “I will keep an eye on them.”

After reminding him, Pei Yixie and her team returned to Pingjiang City. They still had to evacuate the last batch of survivors and join the team in training their abilities.

While the guards were busy inspecting the survivors, Xun Che read the report in his office. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he let out a long sigh.

Noticing his tiredness, Wen Hanli asked, “Commander, how about you take a break first?”

Xun Che waved his hand and said, “How is the progress regarding the new residents?”

Hearing this, Wen Hanli opened a folder and placed it in front of Xun Che before saying, “We have finished investigating the new residents. These people were spies sent by other bases.”

He placed another folder and added, “Besides them, we found these people suspicious. After further investigation, we found out that they were connected to several bases and were also wanted criminals before the apocalypse. The recent murder cases might be related to them.”

Xun Che read their information and frowned deeper. This group of people were death-row prisoners. Besides serial killers, psychopaths, some of them were members of terrorist and criminal organizations.

Even if the pre-apocalypse laws no longer existed, there were laws in the Lin’an City Base. It’s too dangerous to let these people stay in his base.

After he thought for a while, he said, “Arrest these people and take them to the underground prison. Ask Chen Qianxiao to interrogate them.”

Wen Hanli nodded and asked, “How about those spies?”

Xun Che tapped his fingers on the desk for a moment and said, “Let them be for now.”

Even if they removed the spies, there would be another group of spies infiltrating their base. Rather than wasting time and resources to investigate them again, it was better to keep them around.

These spies might be useful for them if they wanted to spread false information or counterattack the other bases in the future.

Wen Hanli understood his meaning without the need for further explanation and replied, “Understood.”

Placing another folder, he said, “Commander, this is the report from Professor Huang.”

Opening the folder, Xun Che read the report and smiled. “Professor Huang Qi is indeed a talent. You can proceed with his plan.”

“How about the supplies set aside for Pei Yijun?” Wen Hanli asked.

“Inform Li Yang and Chu Zhimiao about this matter and ask them when they want to transport the supplies away,” Xun Che said.

“Understood.”

When they finished the discussion, Wen Hanli left the office while Xun Che continued reading the reports and signing the documents.

In the afternoon, all of the survivors from Pingjiang City had finally arrived at the Lin’an City base.
