Chapter 559: RV-078 ( 2 )

Hearing Jin Xuyan’s words, Mo Junjie let out a long sigh before saying, “Captain, I’m afraid of pain. Using my ability is too painful.”

Every time he used his ability, he had to endure the burning pain of his body corroding from the inside out.

Although his body wouldn’t actually turn into a pool of water, and he wouldn’t die from using his ability, the pain was too much to bear. So, unless necessary, he was unwilling to use it.

Jin Xuyan understood the pain, as he had once undergone even more painful experiences. But avoiding the matter was not the solution.

While he controlled the black flame to burn the zombies under the wall, he said, “A short pain is always better than a long pain.”

After he finished his words, he unsheathed his longsword and leaped from the top of the metal wall. With a swing of his sword, he killed a large group of zombies below before dashing toward his fiancée’s location.

Standing on top of the wall, Mo Junjie thought about his words for a while before putting back his air gun and raising his hands. Clenching his jaw, he circulated his energy, and the next moment, black mist seeped out of his palms.

The mist spread in the air and turned transparent. This was the first time the members had seen him using his ability. Feeling curious, they stared at him.

They thought that since his ability was creating mist, it wouldn’t have any attack power. But the moment the mist touched the zombies, they heard sizzling sounds coming from them.

Before they could process what was going on, they saw the zombies suddenly melt, and in less than twenty seconds, they turned into puddles of black water.

Unlike the rancid stench of the zombies, the air was now filled with a pungent, sharp, and irritating scent of corrosive acid, similar to fluoroantimonic acid.

Although the smell was similar, the corrosive level of Mo Junjie’s mist was obviously much stronger than fluoroantimonic acid.

The members had always thought that he was a sickly, weak member who needed their protection. Therefore, when they saw him killing zombies with air guns, they never thought of him as slacking off.

Only now did they realize that he really had been slacking off all these time after witnessing the power of his ability.

While the members were amazed by his ability, Mo Junjie’s forehead and back were covered with cold sweat. He clenched his jaw as he endured the burning pain of his organs corroding.

Five hundred meters away from the wall, Du Beiye was on a rampage as she chopped the zombies with her two-handed greatsword.

She was enjoying her exercise when Krayan suddenly said, “Host, a highly corrosive substance is detected coming from the area five hundred meters east.”

Hearing this, Du Beiye turned around and noticed that the area was where her team members were.

“Krayan, where does this substance come from?” she asked with a frown.

“Host, the source of the substance is a male human. Here is his data.”

The next moment, a blue screen appeared in front of her. When she saw the information, Du Beiye raised her eyebrows. “Isn’t this person my team member? Krayan, scan his ability,” she said.

Krayan didn’t respond immediately, and after a moment, it finally said, “Scanning complete. Host, the source of the corrosive substance is the blood. Not only was it highly dangerous to others, but it also caused damage to the ability-user’s body.”

“This corrosive substance is the result of a DNA mutation caused by the bioweapon. The more the ability-user uses this power, the more his body is damaged.”

“Roar!”

A group of zombies suddenly rushed toward her. With several swings of her greatsword, Du Beiye chopped off their heads while asking, “Is there a way to fix this?”

“By injecting the RV-078 solution, the side effects of this ability can be fixed,” Krayan replied.

Hearing this, Du Beiye recalled that she still had seven vials of the RV-078 solution in her warehouse.

But this solution was stored on the fourth level of her warehouse, and to access this level, she needed a minimum of sixty-five percent of the system’s energy. Right now, she only has forty-eight percent.

After thinking for a moment, she said, “Krayan, convert all the energy cores into energy.”

“Conversion complete. Current system energy level: fifty-two percent.”

She still lacked thirteen percent of the energy. It looked like he had to suffer the pain longer until she was able to access her warehouse.

While she was thinking about how to get more crystal cores, Krayan suddenly asked, “Host, that person has no relationship with you. Why do you want to help him?”

Now that they were no longer able to return to their home planet, there was no way for them to get more RV-078 solutions. If they used one, there would be fewer in the future.

Logically speaking, Du Beiye shouldn’t use these limited resources to save an unrelated person. After all, she was trained to prioritize the mission and her safety.

As for Krayan, it was currently under the emergency protocol, and its priority was to ensure its host’s safety. Therefore, it disagreed with its host using the solution to save Mo Junjie.

Du Beiye smiled when she heard her system asking this question. If she were still on her home planet and living in that rigid, monotone place, she would never save an unrelated person.

But after she came to this Blue Planet and spent time with the team members, she realized that human interaction was not only based on order, priority, interest, or benefit.

Recalling how Mo Junjie had guarded her when she was taking a bath, she replied, “He is not an unrelated person. He is my team member and my friend.”

As an unfeeling system, Krayan couldn’t understand the change in its host’s feelings or the complicated human emotions, so it chose to stay silent.
