Chapter 551: Two Out Of Nine ( 1 )
Standing under the red moonlight, Jin Xuyan was engrossed in the phone call. “Mhmm. Go find Xun Che when you arrive. We are currently in Zhuji City. Mhmm. Just stay in the base and take a good rest. Good.”
After he hung up the call and turned around, he saw his fiancée staring at him with curiosity in her eyes. Walking over, he smiled and asked, “Ah Zhi, why are you waking up so early?”
“I need to use the bathroom,” Jiao Lizhi replied. After a moment of pause, she added, “Brother Yan, do you want to go inside?”
When he heard this, Jin Xuyan knew she was referring to her space. He nodded and said, “Okay.”
Holding his hand, the two of them walked to a secluded area before she brought him into her space. The moment they reappeared inside, she rushed to the bathroom while Jin Xuyan went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
After she finished washing up, Jiao Lizhi joined him in the kitchen. Since it was inconvenient to cook outside, the two of them decided to steam more steamed buns.
Before they started cooking, they both took a shower and changed into casual clothes.
The vegetables and meat in her space were abundant, so they were generous with the fillings.
With the bun-making machines, they only needed to pour in the ingredients and prepare the fillings. The rest would be done by the bun-shaping machine.
Jin Xuyan was tasked with preparing the fillings and handling the ingredients, while Jiao Lizhi was responsible for steaming the buns.
The two of them worked for an hour and made more than three hundred meat and vegetable steamed buns. When they were done, they changed out of their casual clothes and put on their dirty clothes again.
They didn’t bother changing into clean ones since they would be killing zombies again soon. Fortunately, the space could absorb the zombie virus, so their clothes were only covered in dust.
When they reappeared outside, it was five o’clock in the morning. Soon after they returned to the small house, the members woke up one after another.
This time, Chen Qianfeng only prepared a basin of water for the members to wash up. Jiao Lizhi took out the steamed buns and several bottles of milk.
When Li Qixuan saw the milk, he raised his eyebrows and asked, “Sister-in-law, where did you get so much milk?”
Hearing this, everyone turned to her with questioning gazes. They were all curious about the source of the milk.
After the apocalypse, milk powder was hard to come by. If they remembered correctly, she had already sold a lot of milk to the base. How could she still have so much left?
Under their gaze, Jiao Lizhi didn’t feel nervous at all. She poured the milk into several plastic cups and replied, “I collected lots of milk powder before I met the team. Even if we drink a cup of milk every day, my supplies could last for at least half a year.”
The moment they heard this, Pei Yixie asked, “Sister-in-law, you are not a soldier?”
Shaking her head, Jiao Lizhi replied, “I’m just an ordinary university student. When the apocalypse arrived, I had just finished my military training and started my freshman year at Lin’an University.”
Hearing this, the members exchanged glances. They recalled the first time they met her and had thought the same as Pei Yixie. But after spending time with her, they no longer cared about her background.
Unlike them, the new members met her only after the apocalypse, so they assumed her current fighting style was trained by the Captain and that her sharp killing intent was forged through battle.
Therefore, Pei Yixie no longer pressed her and instead started talking about their plans for the day.
When the sun rose over the eastern horizon, the Phantom Team left the area and drove toward the city center. With the goal of breaking through, they drove slowly while attracting the zombies.
When the number of zombies following them reached more than several thousands, they would find a place to clean them up. This way, it was easier for them to train their abilities.
While the Phantom Team was doing their morning exercise, Yuan Ruiyue and his team had already entered the border of Pingjiang City.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Di Hansheng checked the map and said, “Captain, after passing this city, we will enter the border of Lin’an City.”
Hearing this, Yuan Ruiyue opened his eyes and said, “Speed up.”
After he spoke, the member driving the car stepped on the pedal. As the engine roared, the armored car picked up speed. Since they drove fast, the zombies couldn’t keep up at all.
As for the zombies blocking the road, they would dodge them if possible. If they couldn’t, they crashed straight through.
With their armored cars reinforced by the metal-type ability-users, it was not a problem for them to drive through a group of zombies.
Crash!
The car bumped into another zombie blocking the road. Unlike Lin’an City, the roads in Jiangning City and Pingjiang City were damaged. To avoid the holes and cracks, they could only crash into the zombies.
The car jolted as it ran over one. Black blood and rotten flesh splattered across the window. The rancid stench thickened in the air, but none of them changed their expressions.
After driving for several hours, they finally reached the city center. Seeing the situation outside, one of the members said, “Captain, the bridge is destroyed. We have to turn around.”
Yuan Ruiyue glanced at the broken road and said, “No need to turn around.”
After finishing his words, he stepped out of the car. The members followed him and walked to the edge of the broken bridge.
He turned to a young girl and asked, “Ruanyi, can you rebuild the bridge?”
Su Ruanyi nodded and replied, “The gap is not too wide. It shouldn’t be a problem.”
Yuan Ruiyue nodded and gestured for her to start.
