Chapter 539: The Champion
With this thought, Da Xiong gave his brother a slap on the back of his head and scolded him, “You better put away your dirty thoughts! If you dare to do anything that offends them, I will break your legs!”
Xiao Xiong was unhappy when he heard his brother’s scolding. But he grew up under his older brother’s pressure. So even if he was dissatisfied, he still nodded and said, “I know the limit.”
Noticing his perfunctory attitude, Da Xiong gave him another slap as they left in large strides.
Standing with his hands in his pockets, Mo Junjie watched the two of them leave with narrowed eyes. Only after they were far away did he relax his body and lean on the wall again.
Feeling bored, he took out a ghost cube from his spatial necklace and started playing with it.
He often solved a Rubik’s Cube whenever he needed to relax or just pass the time. After so many times, he could solve the cube in less than a minute even with closed eyes.
Fifteen minutes later, Du Beiye was feeling refreshed after taking a long bath and changed into a set of clean clothes.
When she removed the wooden door blocking the entrance and walked out, she saw Mo Junjie leaning on the wall while playing with a strange-looking toy. He was staring at the red moon and lost in his thoughts.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
Hearing her words, Mo Junjie snapped back to his senses. Lowering his head, he stared at the short girl in front of him and said, “Lock the door next time you take a bath.”
After leaving those words, he walked away without waiting for her response.
Du Beiye was confused by his behavior and asked, “Krayan, do you know what’s wrong with him?”
After a moment, Krayan finally replied, “Host, the system has tracked down the source of the signal. Do you want to check the information?”
The moment she heard this, Du Beiye no longer dwelled on Mo Junjie’s strange behavior and said, “Show me.”
The next second, a blue screen appeared in front of her. There was a map of Huaxia on it and a red mark was drawn on top of the image of the Land of Snow.
When she saw this, Du Beiye said, “They are indeed hiding in the mountain ranges.”
“Host, what plan do you have next?” Krayan asked.
“With our current strength, even if we go there, we won’t be able to destroy them completely. Our priority is to get stronger and inform the Captain.”
“Host, why don’t you inform your sister instead?”
The corner of Du Beiye’s lips lifted as she explained, “My Sister has lost her memories. Even if I inform her, she might not agree to help us. But the Captain is different. I heard from the members that he was tracking down an organization called the Facility.”
“As long as we tell him that we get information about the Facility’s location, even if he is unsure, he will definitely go there and check personally. This way, not only we are able to get helpers, we can go there without raising suspicions.”
Krayan went silent for a moment before it said, “Host, you even learn how to lie now after you came to this place.”
When she heard this, Du Beiye chuckled and asked, “Krayan, do you know why I was titled as the Champion in the military academy for several years in a row?”
“Isn’t it because you had the highest scores during the exams and your completion rate during the missions was one hundred percent?”
“Well, that’s one of the reasons,” Du Beiye nodded.
After a moment of pause, she added, “The real reason is because I have the best adaptation ability among the soldiers. To survive in an unknown environment, you have to adapt quickly and learn from the locals.”
“Since we are not only facing monsters but also interacting with the residents of the Blue Planet, we have to learn how they behave, interact, and think.”
Krayan went silent after it listened to its Host boasting about herself. After a long time, it could only reply, “Host, you are indeed the Champion.”
‘Even your boasting level is the best of the best,’ it thought.
Not knowing that her system was also starting to learn how to say one thing while thinking another, Du Beiye rejoined her team and went to sleep.
Since they rested in an open area, the members took turns patrolling.
Early the next morning, the members of the Phantom Team woke up at four o’clock. As summer was coming to an end, the weather at dawn was no longer as humid or hot as before.
After washing their faces, the members did some warm-up exercises before running around the village several times. When Rong Qinyu and his team woke up, the Phantom Team had already run for more than thirty kilometers.
At this moment, they were practicing barehand combat with each other.
Sitting fifty meters away, Da Xiong and Xiao Xiong stared at Du Beiye in horror, their eyes widened and their faces turned pale.
Recalling what he had tried to do the night before, Xiao Xiong broke out in a cold sweat.
In the distance, Du Beiye was sparring against Qin Luzi. After they awakened their abilities, the members had been unwilling to spar with him again because of his psychic-type ability.
No matter how fast or ferocious their attacks were, he could dodge them as if he had eyes on his back. So when Du Beiye suddenly challenged him to a spar that morning, the members were taken aback.
As the two of them exchanged blows, Jin Xuyan narrowed his eyes.
Du Beiye was listed as a level-zero Space-type Ability-User in the Lin’an City Base’s database. But judging from her speed, attack power, and accuracy, she should be at least a level-two Ability-User.
But after he observed her for a while, he didn’t notice any energy fluctuation at all around her. Due to this, he leaned more toward Qin Luzi’s words that she was not an ability-user.
