Chapter 450: Space Distortion ( 8 )

After a moment of pause, Jin Xuyan said, “Gao Bohai and Old Qin are on their way.”

“Okay.”

After she put back her walkie-talkie, Jiao Lizhi entered her space and brought the Eagle Team members out. Not long after, Qin Luzi and Gao Bohai arrived at the rooftop.

The moment they arrived, they saw the members of the Eagle Team lying on the ground, looking like corpses. For a moment, Gao Bohai thought they were already dead. With this thought, he walked over quickly and checked their condition.

After he was sure that they were still breathing but in critical condition, he opened his backpack and took out the medicine box and first aid kit.

While he was busy treating them, Jiao Lizhi took out more medicine from her space before she said, “I will go back and help our team first.”

Qin Luzi nodded and said, “Sister-in-law, don’t worry. I will stay with Brother Gao.”

Jiao Lizhi nodded and said, “Okay.”

The next moment, she leaped from the rooftop and returned to the Phantom Team’s location using the same method as before.

Due to the rain, the zombies continued to evolve even in the midst of the battle.

While the Phantom Team was able to hold on against the relentless attack of the zombies surrounding them, the situation at the Yunshan City Base was far different compared to theirs.

When the sun slanted to the west, the number of zombies surrounding the base had already reached an overwhelming number. Standing on top of the wall, the Vice Commander swung her blade as zombies continued climbing the wall.

Crash! Duagh!

After she kicked away another headless zombie, she asked, “How is the evacuation going?”

The soldier standing not far from her had already received the report from the other side and replied, “Vice Commander, the southern gate and the northern gate have been breached. The zombies have already reached the central area.”

Hearing this, the Vice Commander gritted her teeth and said, “Everyone, retreat to the central area!”

The moment they heard her words, the guards understood that they had to abandon the base and evacuate as soon as possible.

“Understood!” they replied in unison.

As they retreated from the wall, the zombies started to pour into the base.

BOOM!

An explosion was heard coming from the gate as it was blasted by a fireball. With the gate destroyed, their last defense against the zombies was broken.

“Akh!”

“Arhhh!”

One after another, the screams of the guards being devoured alive by the zombies echoed in the area.

Witnessing how their comrades were being torn apart, the guards’ eyes turned red with sadness and rage. But they couldn’t afford to avenge them right now.

Noticing their hesitation, the Vice Commander raised her hands and several fireballs flew toward the zombies.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As the fireballs exploded, they killed a large group of zombies and the half-eaten guards.

“What are you standing there for?! Retreat!” she shouted.

The moment they heard her words, the guards no longer hesitated and ran toward the central area while killing the zombies chasing after them.

Meanwhile, the situation in the central area was chaotic. Besides the zombies pouring in from the outside, the guards also had to be wary of the survivors. As they were drenched in the rain, many of the survivors were infected by the zombie virus and mutated.

With limited time and facing the zombies’ attack, it was nearly impossible for them to check on the survivors’ condition. In the end, many of the guards and survivors died from the attack of the newly mutated zombies.

Now with the gates broken, they could no longer stay to evacuate the rest of the survivors.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As the guards continued firing their guns, the Captain asked, “Where is the Vice Commander?!”

“Roar!”

Just after he finished his words, a zombie lunged at him from behind.

“Captain, be careful!” the nearby soldier shouted as he swung his blade.

Clang!

Before he could cut off the zombie’s head, his blade was blocked by the sharp claw.

Crash!

The next moment, a dagger pierced the zombie’s forehead and killed it instantly. The soldier breathed heavily as he stared at the zombie falling in front of him.

Just a moment ago, he was protecting this girl. But now, she had died as a zombie, killed by them. He felt conflicted, but he had no time to dwell on it.

Five minutes later, they saw a group of soldiers running toward them.

Boom! Boom!

As the fireballs flew toward them and killed the zombies attacking them, the Vice Commander said, “Get in the chopper!”

Following her order, the soldiers entered the chopper. As the propeller started to spin, the chopper slowly took off.

Standing two meters away from the chopper, the Vice Commander continued to clear the zombies, making sure that the chopper could take off smoothly.

When the chopper had already flown off the ground, the soldier shouted, “Vice Commander!”

Hearing this, she ran to them, and with a bend of her knees, she leaped into the air. At this moment, the military chopper was already twelve meters above the ground.

Even as a level two ability-user, it was still hard for her to jump so high after spending almost all of her energy fighting the zombies for hours. As she realized that her hand couldn’t reach the landing skid, despair flashed in her eyes.

While everyone thought that she would fall and end up being torn apart by the zombies below, her wrist was caught by a strong hand. Before she could react, she was pulled up.

The military helicopter swayed for a moment due to their movements, but after a moment, it finally flew away as the zombies roared below.

After they climbed into the chopper, the guard quickly closed the door and heaved a sigh of relief. Turning her head, she looked at the man who risked his life to save hers and said hoarsely, “Thank you, Captain Lin.”

The man stared at her with a deep gaze when he heard her words and asked sarcastically, “Xue Weiyi, we have known each other for twenty years. Don’t you think it’s too late for you to distance yourself now?”
