Capítulo 1245: Do You Know About Ira?
Aaaaaanytime now…
“Yes, I am here, Aster.”
I peeked open an eye to see a guy wearing a hawaiian shirt that was unbuttoned and a pair of shorts standing in front of me. On top of his head were the familiar deer antlers that gave away who he was.
It seems like we were standing in the middle of a forest clearing with light shining down directly on us while the rest of the forest was shrouded in darkness.
I raised a hand in greeting, “Oh hey, sup Drebann?”
“Yes… Sup, Aster. I would like to assume that you came here just to have a chat but I doubt that is the case. And seeing that you didn’t use a Divine Communication Stone, you’re not here to adjust your character stats either. So… Is something wrong?”
I tilted my head, “Eh? Wait… You don’t mind me just coming here to have a chat?”
He placed his hands on his hips, “If I did mind, I would not be speaking to you right now, would I?”
“I mean… Like… Could anyone just do this and appear before you like this?”
“Gosh, Aster… You really are… Ahem… I see why your girls feel a little exasperated by you sometimes…”
What is he talking about? My girls being exasperated? Since when?
He continued before I could ask him about it, “Anyway, I’ll just say it. I’m only allowing it because it’s you, ok? I don’t do this for anyone else. And before you ask, it’s because I find you interesting enough to extend this privilege to you. That’s all.”
Err… Ok? Thanks, I guess?
Anyway, where was I?
Oh right! The whole reason why I was here in the first place!
I cleared my throat, “Ahem… I’m not sure if you or any of the other gods know about this… But do you know that there might be some people who seek to overthrow you all?”
He raised an eyebrow at me, “Do you mean other Gods or people of Erednay?”
“Err… Off-Worlders, specifically…”
“Not surprising, since there’s already people in the other two categories that I just mentioned so it’s nothing new.”
I blinked at him, “Err… When you say ‘other gods’ do you actually mean…”
“Not the other Gods of Erednay. I mean Gods from outside this World in particular. You already know that there are other Gods aside from us in this Universe, right?”
I nodded, “It was other gods that destroyed our old World, after all.”
“Then there are some Gods who want to claim more Worlds for themselves so what they do is overthrow the Gods from other Worlds to claim them as their own.”
“And this is happening all around? Is there no one to stop this?”
He gave me a confused look, “Why would there be a reason to stop this? You are given a World to manage and protect as their God and if you aren’t even able to protect your World from other Gods, then you don’t deserve to be the God of that World to begin with.”
Huh… I suppose that makes sense.
“Then what about your own people? I think it’s a little sad that the people of your own World are also seeking to overthrow you as well.”
“Hmm… I suppose you can see it this way, Aster. Do you think children will never try to rebel against their parents?”
“Oh, so you see us as your children?” I chuckled.
He rolled his eyes, “You know what I mean.”
“Yes, yes. I do. So basically, to you gods, these people are seen like they are rebellious children who know nothing about the World and you just watch over them all the same?”
He shrugged, “More like it wouldn’t matter anyway. We let all of the people of this World have free will. We don’t even demand that we be worshipped to begin with and people still choose to worship us all the same.”
I gestured at him, “Aren’t you making the Trasifs worship you for your protection?”
“Hmm? Not at all? I blessed the Tree of Life to hide them with my blessing. The tree itself is kept alive by their own efforts, not through worship of me. Even the saplings that they plant using branches of the tree is from their own efforts and not a divine intervention. Their worship of me is not something I demanded.”
“Huh… Do you gods get anything through worship then? Like you get divinity points or something? Or more authority?”
He scratched his neck idly, “I suppose… Bragging rights? And I suppose to a certain extent we do get some authority as we are able to get our followers to do things for us.”
Oh right, I think they did say that they aren’t reliant on worship to get their power or something.
He then gave me a pointed look, “So… Was that what you wanted to tell me?”
“Well… I mean… That girl managed to start an entire cult of Off-Worlders who also believe in the same thing she does. That group seems pretty big and they’ve already attempted a few things that would have caused quite a big disaster if we hadn’t been there to stop them.”
“Oh? That’s interesting~ Don’t suppose you know the name of their leader?”
“Err… It’s Ira. I’m surprised you don’t know about her existence though.”
“To be frank, no one right now is as interesting as you are so I don’t really care to remember anyone else.”
I narrowed my eyes at him, “So you’ve just been spying on me or something?”
“Not to that extent. Although I can just tell you that the only God here who would watch you make love to your harem is Hiandoca. And I’m pretty sure she’s there for every single time you do it.”
I’m not even surprised to hear that… She really is a pervert of a goddess after all.
Hmm? Why does it feel like I just heard a lewd moan somewhere? Must have been my imagination.
“Anyway…” I continued, turning back to Drebann. “I thought that maybe you guys would want to know that Ira intends to somehow achieve godhood to overthrow you all.”
He raised an eyebrow, “Is that so? Now that’s a surprise…”
“Is it? I mean… How else would a mortal like us try to overthrow you gods?”
He tapped his chin thoughtfully, “Hmm… There’s a number of ideas… Some of them basically think about crafting a god killer weapon to slay one of us. There’s others who just basically only think about it but never act on it… Then there’s a few who thought about trying to get one of us to help them overthrow another God and grant them divinity for doing so. I’m more curious how she intends to achieve Godhood on her own though.”
“Can’t you find out now that you know about it?”
He stretched his arms over his head, “Ughh… I could but that’s boring you know? If she intends to try and achieve Godhood before challenging us, I suppose we’ll just see how she does it.”
“You really don’t care that someone might be storming up to your place and kicking you guys out to become the new god of this World?”
“Like I said, if it happens, it happens. I would just deal with it when that–”
Before Drebann could finish his words, a tear suddenly appeared in the air and I felt a familiar pressure wrap around me.
It wasn’t the type that made me suffocate but more like a calm embrace from an old friend.
I already knew who it was with that and I was more surprised that she actually showed up here.
Turning towards the tear, the one known as the goddess of Death stepped through, her feet never actually touching the floor and just floating an inch above it.
Drebann frowned at her, “What are you doing here, Srii?”
“I felt Aster’s presence… So I came… I was going to wait but then I heard you say some nonsense.”
Drebann pinched the bridge of his nose, “Please don’t tell me you intend to kill her.”
“Why would I not? If she succeeds, she might oust us from our positions. Do you know what that means?”
Drebann raised an eyebrow, “That we wouldn’t be the Gods of this World anymore? So what?”
Srii scowled at him, “No, it would mean we can no longer watch Aster from here anymore. How can you even accept something like this happening? I should just kill her to stop that.”
Really? That’s what you’re concerned about, Srii? Like… Why are all of you acting like losing your position as a god of this World is no big deal?
Drebann shook his head, “No, no. You aren’t thinking in the long run Srii. You could just watch Aster by her side instead of being here.”
Srii paused for a moment before humming, “Hmm… That is true…”
Eh?
Wait… Maybe I’m the one who doesn’t understand…
“What happens when you guys are actually overthrown? Do you all just… Cease to exist?” I asked.
Both of them turned to me.
“No? We will just be there but she has control over the World. That’s all. So we can just journey along with you if we want to,” Drebann answered me.
Ah… Ok… So that means even if she does manage to overthrow the gods, it just means it’s under new management while the old gods just retire…
Got it… No wonder Drebann doesn’t care if someone actually overthrows him…
Now I feel stupid for worrying so much…
Journal Entry:
I definitely feel silly now…
