Chapter 680: Halberd Live Testing
The ones following me for this were Amber, Lea and Yumiko while Ries, Renata and Mara were in charge of watching the ship.
Of course, I wasn’t counting the Renata that I was wearing since her original body was the one staying behind.
The maintenance hatch popped open after I finished hacking into the door’s security with my Codex, allowing us to drop down into the small room behind it and letting the door shut behind us for air to vent into the room.
We’re in~
While the others had to take off their spacesuits, mine simply transformed back into my normal clothes.
This is why I don’t mind wearing Renata, this is so convenient~
Of course, Amber wasn’t wearing one either because Psionics are such cheats.
Amber and I stood guard over them as Yumiko and Lea stripped out of their spacesuits before we climbed into the station proper, the place already blaring with an alarm sounding over the sound system.
“What’s the plan?” Amber asked, checking the safety on her pistol.
“Find the place where they are controlling the guns on this station and take over it to turn the station against them. We’re also killing any rebels we find along the way,” I answered, taking out my cube.
Amber raised an eyebrow at me, “Is that the weapon that Zwerger made for you?”
That’s right, I haven’t shown anyone else the weapon yet.
Aside from Yumiko, Renata and Ries, no one else has seen this weapon since I wanted to surprise them with it, that’s why this would be their first time seeing it in action.
I even specifically requested Ries not to show them her video recordings which she was really happy to comply with for some reason.
I nodded, “That’s right, it’s really, really cool.”
“It’s a box, Tera… Are you sure you didn’t get scammed?”
“I’m pretty sure. Don’t worry, you’ll see it soon, just be a little patient~” I chuckled.
“Should I be prepared to jump in just in case?”
Renata spoke up from my chest, “Don’t worry! I’ll protect Daddy!”
So reliable~
As though waiting for that exact moment, we heard shouts coming from around the corner and we turned to see a group of Zwergers in the midst of turning around it.
Perfect timing~
“Leave these guys to me~” I requested, holding the cube in my palm.
The Zwergers saw me and skidded to a stop, all of them probably not expecting to meet any Mercs here since we were pretty much a distance away from the hangar and any docking arms.
To their credit, they recovered quickly and tried to raise their weapons at me.
I didn’t rush at them and simply activated the cube to let the pieces separate and reform into a halberd while I strolled towards them casually.
Seeing that I was now armed, they started firing the rifles in their hands at me, all their shots aimed to kill.
Very unfortunately for them however, all of them were using ballistic rifles.
The kinetic bullets struck against my chest and the front of my face, all of them immediately got eaten up by Renata before they could do anything to me.
To them, it must look like their bullets were somehow disappearing before they reached me and instead of trying something else, they just continued to shoot at me hoping it would somehow make a difference.
I pulled back on my halberd and concentrated on it for a moment, the weapon’s blades lighting up and intensifying before I swung towards the Zwergers.
That sent an energy blade flying towards them and decapitated almost all of them in a single blow.
Only one of them managed to throw himself onto the floor in time to avoid the flying blade that shaved the air above his head, only dissipating when it hit the wall down the corridor.
Realising that he stood no chance against me, he tried to leap up to his feet to run off but I had swung my halberd once again and the axe detached from my shaft to fly towards him from above.
The Zwerger only had time to look up before the axe descended upon his head, cleaving him into two before it flew back towards me, attaching itself back on the shaft.
I twirled my weapon one more time to hold it behind me before the corpse of the Zwerger slowly fell over to collapse on the ground.
Damn… Not gonna lie, it worked better than I thought.
I was expecting the energy blade to lose its edge after maybe one or two targets but even with the amount of energy I put into it, it still managed to slice through pretty much everyone.
And the axe also managed to slice clean through the Zwerger’s head without getting stuck and I seemed to have no problems with wanting the axe flying exactly as far as I wanted it to fly.
In other words, it already feels like I’ve already used this weapon for a really long time even though I’m only using it practically for the first time right now.
Whatever Franz did to make it able to link with my mind was seriously awesome.
He did say that it was all thanks to some metal that we brought back which allowed him to give the weapon that property so I’m patting myself on the back for listening to his request.
I turned back to look at my companions to see what their reactions were.
I was expecting to see surprise or even awe at what I did but I most certainly was not prepared to see Amber standing directly behind me with furrowed brows on her face.
“What did you do, Tera?” She asked in a tone that was very different from her usual casual or joking voice.
I blinked at her, “What do you mean?”
“What is that?”
I followed her gaze that was directed at my halberd.
Huh? What is she… Ohhhhh.
I guess she has never seen a halberd before considering what kind of universe this is.
Now that I think about it, I have a feeling Franz actually didn’t make my weapon because he knew about halberds to begin with and quite literally made it because he figured that this was the best weapon design for me after watching me fight.
He really meant it when he said he would be able to tell what weapons to make for us after watching us spar.
I raised up the weapon, “This is called a halberd… It’s a type of polearm. What do you think?”
Amber narrowed her eyes at it, “Can I hold it?”
I saw no reason to reject her so I passed it over to her.
She held it and looked at it really closely as though she was some jeweller inspecting the gems on a piece of jewellery.
It was also obvious that it was her first time holding a weapon like this with the way that she was holding the shaft.
I was a little worried that she might try to swing it and hurt herself with it so I was watching her closely just in case she did that.
She did give it a few waves but she didn’t actually try to swing it before she handed it back to me.
“The Zwerger made this for you, Tera?” She asked.
“Errr… Yes? Is there a problem?”
“No, I’m just curious. So he specifically made this for you… Which means… Hmm… I see. That’s interesting.”
I tilted my head at her, “Is something wrong?”
“No, I’m just surprised that this was what he made for you…”
Err… I’m guessing that she was surprised that this was the type of weapon that the Zwerger had created for me. Probably because she had a different idea of what type of weapon would be suitable for me I guess?
Lea then appeared beside her and unlike Amber, she had a look of awe on her face.
“Mistress… How were you already so good with it?”
I shrugged, “I’m not really sure myself but I think part of it is because of the games I used to play which have this weapon. So this isn’t really my first time actually using this type of weapon.”
That answer seemed to satisfy the both of them as they nodded their heads.
Right then, I noticed that Lea and Amber were looking at something behind me and they suddenly reached for their weapons.
I realised just a split second later that there was most likely an enemy behind me and I tried to spin around to confront whoever it was.
But before I could even complete my turn, a gust of wind blew past me and it took me a moment to realise that feeling a gust of wind in here was weird.
But that was answered when I realised who caused the wind as I found Yumiko standing at the side of a Zwerger that was in the midst of raising his rifle but seemed to have frozen in place.
A second passed before his head slowly slid off his neck and hit the floor with a sickening plop.
Yumiko turned back to me with a big smile on her face, “Finally… I can fight exactly how I want to~”
Yumiko… You’re so cool~
Captain’s Log:
Yep, live tests are going well so far~ I love it~
Amber’s Log:
If this is what I think it is… We need to make sure that Zwerger does not say anything…
