Capítulo 677: Peak of the World 12

Meanwhile, the higher god’s group pressed on, unaware that their people were being massacred by an apex predator.

After walking for roughly 20 minutes, the strain on Veron began to show.

“Damn it… that’s as far as I can take it,” he admitted.

Xara stepped forward . “My turn, then.”

Black energy poured out from her hands, weaving into a dome that bent and absorbed the raging wind.

“See? Not everything has to be brute force.”

And as if on cue, the winds intensified. The air thickened, compressing in strange pulses.

It no longer struck like blades—it pierced, slipping past her field in narrow bursts that stabbed directly at the dome.

BOOOM!

BOOOM!

BOOOM!

Her confident smile faltered, replaced by a scowl as she poured more power.

Thaloren narrowed his eyes.

“Xara, swap with Solmir. The nature of your power is a bad match in this place.”

She clicked her tongue, hating that she had to rely on her nemesis. But then she caught a glint in Thaloren’s eyes, and the meaning became clear.

He wanted her to conserve her strength—just in case Solmir pulled something underhanded.

“Your turn,”

Solmir gave a single nod, and a golden dome surrounded them.

He was only showing a fraction of his strength—ten percent at most. Any more than that, and the other three might start getting suspicious.

“Keep the pace steady. If you burn out, we rotate again.” Thaloren reminded.

“Don’t worry. I know my limits.”

His unusual reply made them more suspicious.

Normally, he would have taken the chance to throw an insult.

‘Idiot,’ Reign thought, not in anger but in disappointment. His slave’s act was so clumsy.

‘Tch. My fault for picking a buffoon as a pawn. Forget it—I’ll kill them all anyway. Might as well let the show play out.’

Ten minutes passed, and Solmir pretended to be exhausted.

Veron, having recovered some strength, stepped forward. It seemed they were deliberately saving Thaloren’s power for the deeper parts of the canyon.

It was a clever tactic, given none of them knew how long the canyon was.

The march slowly dragged on.

Veron tried to hold longer, but his fire wavered, flickering weakly. His breathing grew shallow, his barrier thinning with every step.

“Enough,” Thaloren said, moving forward.

He wanted to conserve his strength, but that was clearly impossible.

A wave of green light swept outward as his barrier formed.

Unlike the others, his shield did not simply block the storm—it bent and redirected the wind, sending its force sliding harmlessly along the dome’s surface.

With Thaloren’s barrier shielding them, the group was able to move more quickly.

After a while, the wind changed again, adapting just like it had against Xara. Now, whenever it struck the barrier, it exploded.

Not all of the force was redirected, and he had to pour in more energy to keep it stable.

Solmir, watching all of this, could barely hold back his laughter. This was his chance.

Once he killed Thaloren, he would have three medallions in his hands, and passing the trial alone would be simple.

He waited quietly, knowing it was only a matter of time.

And then, it happened.

Thaloren’s green barrier flickered, the strain finally showing.

“Solmir—your turn.”

The golden god lifted his hand , and for a second it seemed he would take his place as expected.

But just as Thaloren released his barrier, Solmir suddenly leapt back.

Golden light materialized only around him.

BOOOOOM!

Wind struck instantly, doubling in strength. The gale slammed against the unprotected group, blades of air cutting into their skin.

It threw everyone off balance, and Thaloren was forced to throw up his barrier again in a rush.

“You—!” Xara’s voice cracked, shadows lashing wildly around her. “You traitor!”

But that was a mistake on her part. Her outburst only made the wind grow stronger.

“Don’t be stupid—Xara, stop!” Veron reached out, grabbed her hand, and forced her to look at him. “You’re making it worse.”

Xara’s teeth clenched. She wanted to unleash everything, to tear him apart right there inside his golden shell.

However, that was only the beginning.

While they were still struggling , Solmir finally made his move.

He raised his palm, and without mercy hurled an attack straight at them.

The strike cut through the wind barrier like a spear,

He kept launching one attack after another, each one aimed to break their rhythm, to force them into mistakes.

“Hahaha!” His laughter echoed faintly “This place will be your grave!”

The gods had no choice but to retaliate.

Veron answered with fire, Xara with her black shadows, each strike colliding midair with the golden blasts.

The gale responded to their power, twisting and swelling, battering Thaloren’s barrier harder and harder.

However, the three gods did not stop.

“He can’t keep this up forever,” Veron muttered through gritted teeth. “He’ll be exhausted sooner than us.”

However, to their horror, Solmir’s barrier grew brighter, and his power dwarfed the three of them in no time.

“How…?” Xara was in total disbelief.

Thaloren’s expression darkened. “He’s been hiding his strength. Waiting for this moment.”

Solmir watched their faces twist in fear and grinned wider. Then, he unleashed another wave of attacks.

In an instant, the barrier broke apart. The blast shot through them like a spear, tearing holes in their bodies.

The gale took their wounded bodies next, pulling and twisting them apart. In seconds, they burst like overripe fruit, spraying blood and torn flesh across the canyon.

Thaloren’s medallion broke loose, spinning in the air.

Solmir caught it, triumph flashing in his eyes as his fingers closed around the prize.

Power burst through him, and his barrier hardened, glowing brighter and stronger than before.

“Hahaha! Now I can use seventy-five percent of my power.” He clenched the medallions tight in his hand.

Too lost in his victory, he failed to notice the true predator lurking behind him.

Reign had already devoured the remains of all the gods. Now, only one was left.

‘Feels good, doesn’t it? Shame it ends the moment you’ve served your purpose.’
