Capítulo 670: Peak Worlds Part 5
The four leaders stepped into the pillar together. Light swallowed them whole, the world around them dissolving into a blur of gold.
When their vision cleared, they stood on a vast stretch of flat land, hemmed in by towering canyon walls.
Wind swept through the canyon, carrying with it a hollow, almost metallic echo. No trees, no rivers, no trace of life. Only rock and endless silence.
Xara’s veil waved as she lifted her head.
“This place… carries a restriction. I can feel it eating away at my power.”
The others tested their strength in silence. Solmir’s golden aura dimmed when he tried to summon more of it.
Veron clenched his fists, the heat of his body guttering like a dying flame.
Even Thaloren’s calm expression hardened as the flow of energy in his veins slowed to a crawl.
One by one, they gave short nods, confirming her words.
Such restriction on beings of their caliber only proved how powerful the owner of this place must have been.
Even the faintest trace of their strength was being shaved away, as though the land itself refused to recognize them as gods.
The thought passed between them without words. If this world could bind Higher Gods so easily, then the rumors must be true.
A treasure hidden here… one capable of elevating a god beyond their current station… perhaps even into the rank of a Highest.
Xara’s lips curled faintly beneath her veil.
“Whoever forged this realm didn’t want intruders to walk away untested.”
Solmir’s golden light flickered around his body, fighting against the suppression. “That also means the one who claims it will walk away unmatched.”
Thaloren exhaled slowly, his eyes scanning the canyon walls. “Or dead. Whoever set this up didn’t intend for us all to succeed.”
Veron’s voice rumbled like distant thunder. “Then let us prove that one of us deserve it.”
The canyon floor trembled again, this time more violently. Cracks spread across the flat stone beneath their feet, glowing veins of light snaking outward.
Something deep within the earth was waking.
The glowing cracks widened, splitting the canyon floor apart.
A figure rose from the rift—towering, faceless, its body forged from jagged stone and rivers of green liquid fire.
Chains of black metal clung to its limbs, yet it moved easily, each step shaking the ground.
The air grew heavy, its presence alone pressing against them like a mountain.
Xara’s veil fluttered in the heat, her eyes narrowing. “A guardian… bound here to protect the treasure.”
The golem’s head tilted, a deep groan rumbling from within its chest. When its mouth opened, no words emerged—only a torrent of green flame.
The gods dodged at once. They didn’t hesitate, for the pressure alone told them that a direct hit meant death.
Their caution proved right. The spot where the fire struck didn’t just burn—it vanished.
Stone, dust, even the air itself disintegrated, leaving a hollow scar in the canyon floor.
Thaloren landed lightly on a fractured ledge.
“Be careful,” he called out, “That flame doesn’t just burn—it strips divinity itself. If it touches you, your godhood will vanish.”
For gods who relied on their essence as much as their strength, losing divinity was the same as death.
The three leaders spread out. Their armies, drawn into the canyon through the pillar, followed their lead.
Dozens of high and mid gods charged, blades and spells unleashed.
The guardian met them without hesitation.
Flames surged from its body, and every strike against its molten skin scattered into sparks.
Swords shattered. Spears bent. Even concentrated blasts of energy dispersed on impact.
Xara lashed out with shadow serpents, chains of darkness snaking across the canyon floor to bind the guardian’s arms.
Veron seized the opening, hurling a column of crimson fire that split the sky. The blast hit , but when the flames cleared, the guardian still stood—its body absorbing the attack like water poured into sand.
Solmir stepped forward, golden light flaring from his hand. The canyon blazed as dozens of spears of radiance rained down, each one strong enough to level a city.
They pierced the guardian’s chest, its limbs, its head. The ground cracked from the force.
But when the dust cleared, the spears dissolved into particles, their light consumed.
“Its too tough.” Thaloren muttered, his jaw tightening. “Our attacks won’t break through—not while this place restricts us.”
None of them could unleash more than a fraction of their true strength here. At best, twenty percent of their power answered their call.
The guardian, however, carried the strength of a Higher God in full. That imbalance made the battle far more dangerous than any of them had expected.
“Let’s find its core first !” Xara shouted.
Her words snapped the others to focus.
Guardians , no matter how strong, always had a weakness—a heartstone, a furnace, something that sustain their existence.
Veron clenched his fists, eyes narrowing. “Easier said than done. Its whole body is fire and stone.”
It sounded almost funny coming from him—his magma-scorched skin weren’t that far from the guardian’s own appearance.
Solmir’s golden light flared faintly as he circled to the side. “Then we force it to reveal the core. Keep striking until it shows.”
That was the plan, but even with all of them attacking nonstop, the guardian showed no damage at all.
Worst, the more they pushed, the more it felt like they were feeding it power instead of breaking it down.
Xara clicked her tongue in frustration. “It’s absorbing everything we throw at it.”
“We need to retreat first,” Thaloren suggested. It was the most logical choice.
Meanwhile, while the gods were being pushed back, another golem appeared somewhere.
This one was four times larger than the green molten golem.
BOOOOOOM!
It was obliterated on the spot, reduced to shards and splinters before it could take a single proper step. The wooden giant did not even see what struck it.
‘Disappointing. I thought I could get some real challenge with all this restriction in my body’ Reign sighed.
