Villain Ch 2003. Semi Finals [Part 2]
The battle raged on.
Minute five.
Score: 2–2.
Then 3–2.
Then 3–3.
Every kill was immediately answered. Every burst countered by another.
Gil clenched his fists, eyes fixed on the chaos unfolding across the arena screen. “Goddamn. They’re not just fighting. They’re breaking each other.”
Minute seven.
The arena was cracked open like a battlefield that had been through three wars already. Marble floor shattered. Runes flickering across scorched pillars. The map looked neat once, but now it was just wreckage and bloodstains rendered in immaculate high-res detail.
Arcana was bleeding virtual crimson down one arm, weapon dragging behind him. Red was panting, cloak torn, one shoulder coated in fire glyph burn.
They circled each other again.
One-on-one.
Leader against leader.
Azura flanked, still shadow-bound, not yet moving.
Red didn’t speak. Just moved.
Blade up. Slide forward. A feint to the left, roll right, then slam, steel against Arcana’s shield, followed by a swift uppercut to the gut.
Arcana reeled.
Not enough.
Another step.
Red twisted low, ducked under a counter swing, then drove his sword up, right through Arcana’s ribcage.
Kill confirm.
Arcana staggered back, fell to one knee, then collapsed. His HP dropped to zero.
The killfeed lit up.
[RED_KING killed ARCANA]
Celestial Vanguard: 4
Ironclad Legion: 3
Cheers.
Screams.
Red didn’t have time to celebrate.
Because behind him..
That icy rush.
That flicker of wind.
Azura blinked into existence.
Not in front.
Behind.
“Red!” Alex screamed.
Red turned too late.
Too slow.
Azura’s blade pierced through his back with a clean, surgical thrust. Straight through the center. Out the chest. No hesitation.
A single motion. Smooth. Deadly.
Red gasped and dropped forward.
The crowd went silent for half a second. Then exploded into a roar.
[VIRTUALVALKYRIE killed RED_KING]
4–4.
Alex gulped. “Oh no.”
He stood alone now.
One support priest.
Versus Azura.
Azura, the Valkyrie of Ice. The living blade. The player who took three kills this round already. She turned toward him, face calm, eyes cold. Her silver hair drifted slightly behind her as the battlefield wind simulation pulsed.
“You’ve got this,” Red’s voice came through the comms. Slightly strained. “You’ve trained for this.”
“I trained to support you, not go one-on-one against a pro DPS,” Alex snapped.
“Focus.”
“I am focused!” he shouted, panic high. “I’m focused on not dying!”
Azura walked forward, slow, controlled.
Alex threw up a barrier. Then another. Then he dropped a slow glyph in front of her, then backed up. Then healed himself, just in case. Then put up another barrier. Then cast Healing Light.
And yeah, his hands were shaking.
“Okay, okay, okay. Keep distance. Kite. Don’t die. Easy plan. Great plan. Dumb plan. Holy shit.”
Azura dashed.
Straight through the slow zone.
He gasped. “How is she that fast?!”
The crowd started chanting again.
Half screamed “Valkyrie!”
The other half?
“ALEX! ALEX! ALEX!”
Azura slashed through his first barrier like it was paper.
Alex squealed and ran.
Threw a blind zone.
She dashed through it.
Slash.
Second barrier broke.
“NOPE,” Alex screamed. “YOU DON’T GET TO STAB ME. I’M A PACIFIST DAMMIT.”
He flung another glyph, this time a speed boost behind him. He sprinted. Then blinked to the high platform above the altar.
Azura followed.
Jumped.
Straight at him.
He cast a stun pulse midair.
It barely landed.
Azura twitched. Paused.
That was his only chance.
Heal. Heal. Buff. Barrier. Barrier again. Delay.
“Is it working?” Eren whispered, breathless.
Sachi nodded. “He’s delaying just long enough.”
Gil leaned forward. “Time. Check the clock.”
The timer blazed.
00:00:38
“Come on, Alex,” Red muttered.
Azura recovered.
Dashed.
One slash.
Two.
Healed.
Slowed.
Blocked.
Froze.
He blinked again.
“HA!” Alex yelled. “I’m still alive!”
Azura said nothing. But her eyes sharpened.
00:00:12
She blinked behind him.
Slash.
He bled.
00:00:06
He dropped a glyph. “TRY ME!”
She did.
The final clash happened with less than four seconds on the clock. Her blade raised. His staff glowing.
Slash met shield.
Light met frost.
And then…
TIME UP!
Everything froze.
Literally.
Time-locked.
The system pulsed.
The screen flickered.
Then the announcement came in booming clarity.
“DRAW! Celestial Vanguard: 4 Ironclad Legion: 4.”
Gasps. Then confusion. Then shock.
Silence. Then… chaos.
Because this?
This was the first draw of the tournament.
And now?
They’d need to fight again.
The announcement echoed through the arena like a shockwave, and both teams slowly stepped out of their VR pods, breathless and drenched in sweat. Even in the cool air-conditioned stage zones, everyone’s skin was flushed, eyes wide, fingers twitching with leftover adrenaline.
Red exhaled sharply, rubbing the back of his neck.
Azura cracked her knuckles without saying a word. Neither team made eye contact with the other as they walked off the stage, peeling away into their designated prep zones, far enough apart that no stray voice could be overheard, no last-second tactic leaked. Not even the audience could see them now.
There were no cheers here. No flashing lights. Just walls, bottled water, and silence.
Each team had their own table, a blank strategy pad glowing softly with built-in overlays. Beside it sat stylus pens, ready for battle plans.
Arcana grabbed one, drew a quick layout of the arena’s midline, and started marking Azura’s positions, the expected rotations, and potential traps.
Red did the same, eyes narrowed, sketching out lines, predicting Arcana’s counters. Their guildmates huddled close, speaking in low, fast voices.
“He’ll push left again.”
“She’ll open from high ground.”
“Watch for the delayed blink.”
“Save the stun for her second dash.”
Red, unusually intense, pointed at Alex’s icon on the sketch. “You don’t heal until the third clash. You delay. Stack slow glyphs. It’s our only chance.”
Alex, still breathing hard, nodded. “Got it. No running. Okay, maybe running. But strategic running.”
Mastercraft rotated his wrists, glanced at the pad, then at Red. “We win this one. No screw-ups.”
Across the divider wall, Azura wiped her face, already visualizing her next route. Arcana tapped his stylus. “She takes the final hit. Not me. Not again.”
Time passed too fast.
Ten minutes disappeared in the blur of planning, water chugging, and frantic breath.
Then the announcer boomed again overhead.
“Combatants, prepare to re-enter the battlefield. All players return to your VR pods.”
And just like that… it was time.
