Capítulo 1993: Elio’s Determination [Part 2]

Villain Ch 1993. Elio’s Determination [Part 2]

Elio didn’t flinch. Just rotated his shoulder once and flexed his fingers around the hilt of his sword.

The light fully faded, revealing familiar faces. Red_King, clad in crimson and silver plate, stood tall at the front. His helm removed, flame-styled hair slightly windblown.

Father^Alex hovered a step behind him, white robes rippling, golden staff already glowing with passive heal aura.

Mastercraft stood to the side, thick hammer resting against his shoulder, heavy-duty armor humming with rune enhancements.

The other three? Elio didn’t know. But judging by the fluidity of how they moved into formation, they weren’t amateurs.

Alex grinned. “Oh Elio, you’re here! Thought we saw your name in the queue.”

Elio kept his stance but offered a nod. “You guys?”

Red_King crossed his arms. “What are you doing here alone?”

“Training for the tournament. What else?”

Mastercraft scoffed. “Alone? You know this isn’t a solo tourney. It’s guild versus guild.”

Elio rolled his neck. “My team hasn’t logged in yet. I want to test myself while I wait.”

Alex blinked. “Alone? Against teams?”

Elio nodded. “Yes.”

Then his eyes narrowed. “Wait. Isn’t the format for five players?”

Alex scratched his head. “Oh. This guy,”—he pointed at the youngest of the bunch, a lanky rogue with silver hair—”is our new recruit. We’re just running skirmishes today so he can observe and maybe throw a few hits. Low risk.”

Red_King raised an eyebrow. “But if you’re serious about sparring, we’ll re-register. 6 VS 1 doesn’t feel right.”

“No.” Elio’s voice was low, calm, but firm. “Fight me. All of you. I want to know my strength limit.”

That made them pause.

Then Red smirked. “Alright. I respect that. But don’t blame us when it hurts.”

“Wouldn’t be training if it didn’t.”

The arena rumbled as the duel countdown began.

[5…]

Elio’s HUD flickered. He checked his buffs. Divine Endurance, Retribution Aura, Stalwart Skin. Cooldowns: up.

[4…]

He took a deep breath. Not real air, not real lungs, but his mind needed the illusion. Focus. His fingers tightened around his blade.

[3…]

He locked eyes with Red_King across the arena. They nodded. Just once. No malice. No mocking.

[2…]

He didn’t need to win. He needed to see how far he could go before the floor broke under him.

[1…]

[Begin.]

The rogue dashed first, predictable. Trying to bait out a reaction. Elio didn’t move. He let him come, waited until the dagger scraped against his shield, then spun with a bash. Caught him on the edge. The kid blinked out with a skill right before the follow-up slash landed.

Smart.

Mastercraft moved next, slower but with purpose. He tossed a trap, a gravity rune that pulsed under Elio’s boots. Elio jumped back, cast a buff scroll Acceleration, and skated across the edge of the arena toward Alex.

The priest was already channeling.

“Not this time,” Elio growled.

He launched Smite. A bright cross-shaped burst. It hit Alex’s barrier but disrupted his spell.

Red_King was already behind him.

Elio twisted, just barely bringing his shield up in time. Metal on metal. Sparks flew. The impact vibrated all the way to his elbow.

Then the hammer landed.

Mastercraft’s rune hammer slammed into his side, breaking through his damage reduction by sheer stat weight. His HP dropped by 18%.

He grunted, lunged forward, and cast Guardian Vow, slamming a healing wave into his body while casting a taunt ring outward.

They turned to him, exactly like he wanted.

His sword cleaved forward, forcing Alex to step back and Mastercraft to brace. He followed with a Shield Sweep, knocking the rogue into the wall, pinning him for a second.

The DPS pair, an archer and a dual-daggers user, closed in from behind.

“Shit.”

Elio ducked under the deggers, rolled, and used Heaven’s Wall, forming a glowing golden barrier that split the field in half.

It only bought him five seconds.

That’s all he needed.

He channeled Radiant Pillar, a pulsing AoE explosion around him.

The rogue went flying. One DPS ate it fully. Alex flinched.

But Red_King was already on him.

Their blades clashed again, heavy knight steel versus blessed paladin steel. Elio’s stance faltered slightly this time. He corrected mid-motion, but the momentum was gone.

Red didn’t speak. Didn’t joke. Just fought.

Mastercraft came from the flank, hammer swinging low. Elio dropped his shield just in time to absorb it, but the second hit, imbued with Shock Rune, staggered him.

He cast Iron Body, last-resort damage dampener.

He kept swinging.

He didn’t feel tired. Not physically. But his fingers twitched now. A tremble.

That flame in his chest still burned. Rage. Obsession.

But his HP dropped below 30%.

Alex dropped a debuff on him.

[Slow].

He resisted the first tick. Then Red slammed his shield into his ribs again, and the second tick locked him in place.

“Damn it,” Elio hissed, struggling to break free. His arms wouldn’t move.

The rogue darted back in.

Two DPS skills collided with his shield at once.

His HP dropped to 22%.

[Divine Reversal: Ready.]

He activated it, exploding his stored damage outward. The rogue disappeared from the HUD. Knocked out.

Archer’s health dipped to critical.

Elio slammed his blade down, casting Judgment Wrath in the same motion. Holy fire rained down for 2 seconds, catching the archer and Mastercraft. The arena crackled.

Then silence.

Red_King’s shield slammed into Elio’s back again.

Elio staggered. Then roared, swinging around with raw force, no skill activation, just instinct.

Red blocked it.

Their eyes locked again.

He was down to 11% HP.

But his knees didn’t buckle yet.

Alex stepped in, tossing a quick buff on Red and a slow on Elio.

His feet felt heavy. His body hot. He couldn’t breathe right.

He looked at his blade. The gleam of it. The scratches. The blood.

He looked up.

At all of them.

And smiled.

“Tournament prep,” he said through gritted teeth. “Right.”

Mastercraft, still panting, chuckled. “You insane bastard.”

“Maybe.”

He cast Final Bastion.

The golden aura surrounded him again.

One last stand.

He gripped his sword.

And charged.
