Capítulo 1992: Elio’s Determination [Part 1]
Villain Ch 1992. Elio’s Determination [Part 1]
Elio exhaled sharply as the loading screen faded, dumping him back into the blazing white sands of the PvP arena.
Midday.
Bright as hell.
The kind of light that reflected off armor plates like a damn spotlight, making everyone shine like they were gods about to bleed.
He stood alone.
His boots crunched into the cracked saltstone floor, his kite shield glinting on his arm, sword sheathed for now at his hip. The wind kicked up heat in waves, making the air shimmer. And yet… he felt cold inside.
Colder than he had any right to.
[Match confirmed. Five versus one.]
The system voice echoed in his ear. Neutral. Clinical.
He didn’t flinch.
Lunch break. His teammates still weren’t here yet, grabbing food or flirting in town squares or maybe napping in real life. Not him. He scarfed down his food in three minutes and dove back in like an addict chasing that next hit.
And this? This was the only thing that helped.
The only thing that even came close.
He needed the fight.
No, he needed the rage.
He clicked his neck, rotating it slowly.
Across the arena, the enemy squad appeared in a pulse of light.
One tank. Tower shield. Full Mythic Set.
Three DPS. Rogue, dual daggers. Archer with lightning quiver. Battle Mage, floating with lightning curling around their wrists.
One healer. High Priest. Robes glistening. They always stood back.
Elio didn’t move.
The team didn’t taunt. No emotes. No dancing. No mocking hand gestures.
Not this time.
Everyone in this bracket knew who he was by now.
Paladin main. 200+ confirmed PvP kills in the last two weeks. Just a player who dropped into the arena, cleaved through people like a controlled storm, and vanished.
They knew him.
They feared him.
But they still came. They still queued. Because they wanted the badge. The title. The kill.
[Mac (Order of Valiance) vs. Team WyvernSpire begins in three… two…]
He closed his eyes.
The system counted down.
[…one. Fight!]
The mage struck first, firing off an arc of chain lightning meant to paralyze and bounce. It cracked like thunder against the sand.
But Elio was already moving.
He didn’t even pull his sword yet.
He raised his shield and slammed it into the bolt mid-air, absorbing the current. A shimmer of golden sigils flared across the shield’s surface.
[Absorption rate: 64%.]
Then he dashed.
One forward roll, shield up. The rogue lunged in with a spin-flip from the left. Elio turned on instinct, slammed his shoulder into the rogue mid-air, sending the man skidding like a ragdoll across the dust. HP down by 40% just from the shield bash.
The archer shot next. Three volleys, scattered.
Elio didn’t dodge.
He kept walking forward.
One. Two. Three arrows thudded into his armor and stuck. Not pierced. Just stuck.
He activated Pain Conversion.
The moment the third arrow hit, he burst forward with unnatural speed. Golden light exploded beneath his boots. A trail of sparks followed.
His sword was out now. Two-handed grip. No flourish. Just purpose.
He struck the mage first.
One vertical cleave, followed by a shield bash to the chest. The mage tried to cast barrier, but Elio kicked her mid-animation. Her body slammed into the arena wall. Stunned. No mercy.
He turned.
The rogue was back up, buffed with Haste. Fast. Erratic. Elio welcomed it.
Their blades met mid-air, sparks flying. The rogue twisted, trying to backstab. Elio ducked, spun, then rammed his shield into the rogue’s gut. Air whooshed out of him.
“Holy Judgment.”
Elio muttered the skill name like a prayer.
Golden chains burst from the ground, wrapping the rogue in midair, dragging him down into the cracked saltstone. Stunned. Silenced. Exposed.
Elio didn’t even look at the health bar. He just moved on.
The tank was closing in now.
“You want me?” the tank barked.
Elio’s eyes were empty.
He walked straight into the taunt zone and hit the tank anyway.
One.
Two.
Three hits.
The tank blocked them all.
But Elio didn’t stop.
He gritted his teeth, eyes blazing now. That flame. That itch under his skin. He wanted to scream. He wanted to feel something. He swung harder.
“Radiant Severance,” he muttered.
A golden shockwave erupted from his blade, bypassing the tank’s block and slamming into the archer behind him. The archer crumpled. The healer screamed and cast a mass heal.
Too late.
Elio dashed past the tank with a sidestep cancel, shield checking him on the way out. Then he charged the healer. No hesitation. No honor.
He punched his sword straight through her casting arm.
She let out a shriek. The spell failed.
He grabbed her by the collar of her robe.
“You’re wasting your miracles,” he said, voice low.
Then he threw her off the edge of the platform. No kill notification, she’d respawn on the edge, but the point was made.
He turned.
The mage was barely crawling. The rogue was still bound. The tank was staggered.
Elio’s body glowed with the afterimage of six active buffs. His sword gleamed like a divine relic.
The announcer voice returned.
[Victory! Mac wins the match!]
He stood there. Just breathing.
His HP was below 50%.
His fingers ached.
His whole body trembled.
But he didn’t log out.
“It’s not enough… I’m still not strong enough…” he muttered.
The arena reset around him.
New match in 60 seconds.
He turned to face the queue list again.
He didn’t know what he was chasing anymore. Glory? Revenge? Allen?
Maybe it was all of it.
Maybe it was just that he didn’t want to be weak again.
He clenched his jaw and stared at the next team entering the match preview.
Six players this time.
“Good,” he whispered, eyes sharp.
“Send more.”
His fingers flexed like they weren’t done yet. Not even close. The taste of adrenaline still lingered on his tongue, bitter, electric. Like he’d bitten into a lightning rod and dared it to fry him.
System light shimmered around the arena’s edge, forming the next team’s silhouettes. Guild buffs activated. Coordinated movements. Emblems he recognized.
Celestial Vanguard.
