Chapter 1379: A Bargain With Paradise (2), A Prince Level Faction
Under Orion’s gaze, Karli lowered her head and unconsciously clutched her dress. She wasn’t used to such a situation, but she had already come to the same conclusion as her father: to ensure her parents’ safety, she would have to do more than simply ally with the mysterious man before her.
She wasn’t sure if she would be chosen, especially when compared to the numerous others behind her, some of whom seemed even more beautiful and powerful than she was.
Still, Karli had always been one to look down on beings from the Material Realm. So she couldn’t help but feel a slight complex mix of emotion stirring in her heart.
Orion nodded at Zaelthar and said, “What does your daughter think about this?”
No matter the circumstances, Orion would never enter into a relationship with a woman against her will. He had never done so and never would, not now, not in the future.
Upon hearing Orion’s question, the eyes of Zaelthar and his wife lit up, understanding that Orion was willing to accept their proposal.
Karli was momentarily taken aback. She found it hard to believe that Orion had accepted their proposal so easily. Her mind spun, trying to understand why he had agreed so quickly. Her face flushed, as she tried to steel her heart.
Seeing his daughter in such a state, Zaelthar sent a wave of spiritual energy towards her direction that instantly snapped her out of her daze.
“Ahem! The Supreme Leader has asked what you think about entering into an engagement with him,” Zaelthar asked with a light smile.
“Your mother is here, so tell us the truth. We’ll support whatever decision you choose to make,” Rhylla added.
If their daughter still chose to reject the proposal, then they would drop the matter. Although the proposal was immensely beneficial for Karli, they would rather face all their enemies at once, even if it meant certain death, than force their daughter into something against her will.
Though it felt hypocritical after coming this far, they couldn’t help but have second thoughts when looking into their daughter’s eyes.
After listening to her parents’ words, she sighed inwardly, realising that the final decision now rested with her.
“I’ve thought about it. As long as the Supreme Leader doesn’t discriminate against Spirit Beasts, it would be an honour to be bound to you through an engagement,” Karli said, mustering the confidence she had accumulated over tens of thousands of years.
Orion was inwardly amused when he heard Zaelthar and Rhylla refer to an engagement the moment he gave his agreement.
Upon hearing Karli’s response, he was sure they had discussed this beforehand and that she had been considering backing out at the last minute.
As for whether her heart was truly in it, it was still too early to tell. With his current strength, relationships often began based on the opportunities that each party could offer now or in the future.
Over time, feelings might naturally develop between them, leading to a child. So there was no need to rush anything.
“Alright. You may stand behind me. After this meeting ends, I’ll take you back and introduce you to my family,” Orion said.
Karli gave a slight nod. After offering a respectful bow to Orion, she turned to her parents and bowed as well before flying over to stand behind him.
“You both may wait with the others until the next meeting begins,” Orion said, looking at Zaelthar and Rhylla.
Zaelthar and Rhylla exhaled quietly in relief.
They nodded in understanding, took one last look at Karli, then flew toward the area where the others who had completed their exchange were waiting.
Orion paid them no further attention.
Once they became his insiders, he would treat them with more respect and grant them certain privileges. But for now, it was best not to show any such gestures.
Two women then stepped forward.
One was a tall, athletic woman with platinum-silver hair that flowed down to her waist and emerald-green eyes. She wore a blue robe adorned with silver fur. Accompanying her was another woman with a striking resemblance, dressed in matching attire but in a shorter robe.
However, from their demeanours, it was clear who the mother was and who the daughter was.
“I am Vun-Shei, a 260,000-year-old Princess. This is my niece, Yruel. She is a 240,000-year-old Duchess of the Silver Tide Wolf Faction” Vun-Shei introduced herself, gesturing toward her niece.
“She is the next in line to inherit the leadership of the Silver Tide Wolf Faction. Yruel is also willing to offer herself to you, along with the full support of our entire faction, in exchange for information regarding the Seven-Headed Hydra. Of course, that is only if the Supreme Leader so desires.”
As Vun-Shei finished her words, she looked at Orion, awaiting his response.
Orion had shielded the earlier conversation between himself and Zaelthar’s family, preventing others from overhearing.
Zaelthar and Rhylla had noticed this and remained silent, pleased by Orion’s discretion. It was part of the reason they had grown bold enough to bring up the engagement in the first place.
Now, with only Karli standing behind Orion and the others having been dismissed, the remaining group grew more optimistic about the success of their own proposals.
‘So she isn’t the mother; they are only related by blood,’ Orion thought.
Upon learning that the woman before him was a Princess tied to a prominent faction, Orion gave her another look.
Compared to Yruel, he found Vun-Shei far more interesting.
Truthfully, he hadn’t expected someone of her stature to make such a proposal.
“What kind of force is the Silver Tide Wolf Faction?” Orion asked.
Noticing the intensity of his gaze, Vun-Shei trembled slightly. She wondered if she had made a mistake in her introduction, something that might have displeased the old monster before her, enough to make him focus on her and ask such a question, rather than her niece, who was the one offering herself.
She wouldn’t have been so shaken if she hadn’t personally witnessed Orion slay multiple princes and princesses with a single bolt of lightning, without even moving from his position.
Nevertheless, she composed herself, gritted her teeth, and responded,
“The Silver Tide Wolf Faction is located near the Grand Mirina Trench, about eight billion kilometres from here. It’s primarily led by the Silver Tide Wolf tribe, which holds the greatest power, and includes six princes and princesses under its command.”
“You needn’t worry about whether we have the authority to make such decisions. Two thousand years ago, while I was away on an expedition, our faction was nearly annihilated by a coalition of enemy forces. We were annexed.”
“Fortunately, not all of us perished. I returned just in time to lead our retaliation, crush our enemies, and reclaim what was taken.”
“I also discovered that my brother had hidden away a daughter, an heir to our bloodline. She is the rightful successor to the throne. Because of that, no one dares disobey her authority.”
“We were able to prevent the Silver Tide Wolf Faction from collapsing completely, though it’s no longer what it once was.”
She paused, then added, “Furthermore… if Yruel fails to find a suitable partner in the next 10,000 years, the elders will choose one for her upon her ascension to the Princess rank. This could spark internal conflict and destabilise the faction, leaving it vulnerable to outside threats.”
“It’s difficult to restore the glory we once held. Still, compared to other factions in the Spirit Realm, the Silver Tide Wolf Faction remains among the upper echelon. And now… we are willing to hand it all over to you.”
Vun-Shei laid out everything, hoping to satisfy Orion’s curiosity. She believed transparency was the best way to show their sincerity.
Orion was genuinely surprised to learn the Silver Tide Wolf Faction was a Prince/Princess-level force. While he had suspected that some spirit beasts present were tied to powerful hidden factions, he hadn’t expected one of them to offer themselves and their entire force so readily.
Even if they hadn’t made such an offer, Orion would have found a way to claim control of their faction once he became aware of its existence.
He didn’t care about the external threats Vun-Shei had mentioned. In fact, he welcomed them. If they appeared, they could be crushed or brought to heel. They would make it much easier for him to carry out his plans in the Spirit Realm.
Still, this proposal wasn’t just an act of desperation; it was a clever attempt to strike three birds with one stone.
Orion nodded. “What does your niece think about this?” he asked.
Vun-Shei quickly turned to Yruel, prompting her to respond.
“I have no objections,” Yruel said, bowing respectfully. “I hope the Supreme Leader will accept our proposal.”
Vun-Shei exhaled inwardly in relief, believing everything was proceeding smoothly. But Orion’s following words made her heart nearly leap from her chest.
“How about you?” he asked, looking directly at Vun-Shei. “Is she the only one offering herself?”
