Chapter 1378: Santuary (3), A Bargain With Paradise
“That way, we can understand their intentions and ensure our safety. We only need volunteers who are willing to take on this task.”
Once this voice finished speaking, the others fell silent.
The previous voice snorted loudly.
“Tsk! Cowards! I’ll go and spread this information to the others and see who’s willing. If no one volunteers, then we’ll draw lots to decide who takes on the task,” the voice declared solemnly.
“Any objections?”
“No!” Resounding voices echoed from the surrounding thrones.
“This matter is settled, then. I’ll inform you of the results soon.”
The figure on the throne who had spoken vanished.
One by one, the others also disappeared.
…
Within the Spirit Realm..
Floating Frost Valley..
Orion gave the same explanation he had previously shared with Jaros and the others about the appearance of the King’s aura within the territory, now addressing the gathered congregation of Spirit Beasts before him.
Just like before, upon learning that the aura originated from a Seven-Headed Hydra with a child who had broken through the natural limits of Spirit Beasts, they were shocked.
Their interest in the identity of the Seven-Headed Hydra quickly matched their previous fascination with the King’s aura.
Those who had investigated the matter, such as Jaros, recognised Zymera’s true identity. So they were taken aback, as her origin made it clear that she could not have achieved such a breakthrough on her own.
Many of them had lived long enough to encounter several members of the Seven-Headed Hydra race, as well as other related species, yet had never witnessed such an extraordinary feat among them.
None of them were foolish. They quickly understood that all these extraordinary events, from the appearance of the King’s aura to the defeat of enemies and the reclamation of surrounding territories from the Celestial Spirit Court, began the moment Orion and his mysterious forces arrived.
This confirmed one thing: only Orion and his forces knew the whereabouts of the Seven-Headed Hydra.
They finally understood why the Spirit Beasts who had learned this information earlier chose to remain by Orion’s side and kept it secret.
Those spirit beasts were trying to monopolise the knowledge and eliminate their competition. It became clear that if Orion had ordered it, they would have fought to expel them from the territory.
Fortunately, they had acted quickly in obeying Orion’s commands. Otherwise, not only would they’ve appeared foolish for trying to seize the information forcefully, but they would have ended up with nothing, and likely been eliminated by Orion before they had a chance to regret their actions.
When news spread that there would be a second meeting shortly after the first, this time to exchange information regarding Zymera’s location, a wave of excitement rippled through them.
Though they still had doubts, they knew this was their only opportunity and had no choice but to seize it.
…
“Before we commence this meeting,” Orion began, “there’s something I must remind you all. There’s no guarantee that the information I possess about the Seven-Headed Hydra’s current location is accurate. It’s based solely on our ongoing speculations and investigations.”
“Now that that’s settled, everyone who still wishes to trade for this information should present their offers. The offer window will remain open for one hour,” he continued, “Those who fail to present a suitable trade within that time should leave. My wives will handle the negotiations.”
Orion gestured to Celeste, Greta, and Gina, who floated beside him in midair. He was too lazy to deal with this part himself. His thoughts were already on the Celestial Spirit Court, the Spirit Beast Coalition, and the Divine Corps.
He was eager to confront them and seize the Omnithriallain corpse from their grasp.
Initially, he had intended to head there immediately, but his plans shifted when he saw the sheer number of Spirit Beasts before him. He also needed large quantities of Spirit Realm resources to develop the Spirit Beast homeland within the White Flame Cosmic Tree.
As long as Orion gathered the necessary resources from the Spirit Beasts before him, even if the Transcendent Spirit Beasts were alerted, they likely wouldn’t act, because he had a reasoned approach.
He still wasn’t entirely confident that they would overlook his plundering of the Spirit Realm. That’s why he was cautious and unwilling to take any reckless actions until he could successfully relocate the Spirit Beasts loyal to him and Paradise into Paradise itself.
However, if he failed, the newly ascended divines within Paradise gave him confidence. They could hold off any attack from the Transcendent Spirit Beasts long enough to complete the evacuation.
Orion was no longer walking on eggshells like he had been just days earlier upon re-entering the Spirit Realm. Still, using the newly ascended divines would have to be carefully timed. They were still learning how to fully harness their divine powers.
He also didn’t want to attract the attention of hidden cosmic forces before meeting the mysterious factions that the bizarre Will of the Divine Mysteries had spoken about.
For now, he continued to act with the same caution he had exercised before.
Celeste, Greta and Gina stepped forward.
Immediately, countless streams of radiant light materialised in midair, converging into a solid form. They were Greta’s clones. Each clone stood before the Spirit Beasts.
Meanwhile, the Spirit Beasts were stunned to learn that the three women, who had single-handedly eliminated five Spirit Beasts alongside Orion, were, in fact, his wives.
Witnessing Greta’s abilities, they couldn’t help but gulp in fear.
At that moment, a frightening thought occurred to them.
If Orion alone could handle countless Spirit Beasts, striking them down with a single bolt of lightning, then what was stopping the women beside him from doing the same?
Such a thought had stirred within them before, but they had dismissed it as almost ridiculous. However, witnessing the scene before them now, they understood that these three women might be just as powerful as Orion himself.
In that case, it wasn’t they who were at a disadvantage due to their numbers; it was the other way around. Many of them realised that the forces backing them might not be able to save them if they ended up on the wrong side of these mysterious people.
Without hesitation, they got in line, waiting for their turn to meet Greta, who was attending to the crowd.
Meanwhile, Celeste and Gina stood watch over the ongoing exchanges, ensuring nothing went wrong.
Behind the transactions, Orion observed the strange scenes before him.
Zaelthar and Rhylla stood before him with a younger woman who bore a striking resemblance to both of them. She stood silently beside them.
Behind the trio were numerous other couples, or at least one parent each, standing with a woman who looked unmistakably like their kin.
There were about fifteen in total.
Greta had directed them to Orion due to the unique nature of their bargains. Even before they spoke, Orion already understood what kind of proposal they wished to make; it was apparent.
Yet, he didn’t turn them away. He had been thinking about several matters related to the Spirit Realm for some time now.
With his seed, Zymera had ascended from an Aristocrat to the Earl Rank, obtaining strength on par with a newly ascended god.
Now that he had become a true god, what would happen if he impregnated another Spirit Beast?
Would they ascend to the King Rank, or be catapulted directly into the ranks of Transcendent Spirit Beasts?
Another thing that interested him was their unborn children. A child born of a true god of the human race and a high-ranking Spirit Beast would undoubtedly attract the attention of mysterious forces within the Spirit Realm.
Regardless of what rank they ascended to, it would ultimately benefit Paradise. It would allow them to explore the Spirit Realm more deeply.
This was a mission Orion had to fulfil for Paradise. He was willing to undertake this responsibility for its sake. And so, the more individuals willing to make such proposals, the better.
“This is my daughter, Karli. She’s 24,999 years old, a Viscountess, and on the verge of breaking through to the Countess Rank. I wonder if the Supreme Leader would be willing to take her as a bargaining partner in exchange for information regarding the Seven-Headed Hydra?” Zaelthar asked, his tone respectful.
If this had been earlier, he might have only felt disappointed if Orion refused their proposal. But after witnessing their strength, he realised something else: Orion wasn’t just their potential saviour. No one under the King Rank could even threaten him.
In other words, it was like being protected by a King himself.
Orion looked at Karli.
She was a young woman dressed in a form-fitting robe of mixed orange and black, embroidered with crow-like wings. Her raven-black hair cascaded like a waterfall, framing sharp features and a single gleaming white horn that jutted proudly from her forehead.
Compared to Zaelthar and Rhylla, she was indeed a younger woman, but her age alone was enough to rival the combined lifespans of many divine beings.
