Chapter 382: Chapter 381: Using rafts 3

“No, this is my first time riding a raft like this. The water is really near. It would probably look beautiful if the water were clear,” Ashlee answered while still looking around.

“Yeah, the water is all brown, but it also looks like gooey chocolate!” Sophie said.

“Indeed, it looks like flowing light-colored chocolate,” Ashlee said in agreement.

The two kids kept talking about the things around them, like the color of the water, the floating debris, and a lot of other things that they were seeing on the way.

So, Luciel also looked at their surroundings while listening to their chatter.

The two kids continued talking about the things around them until they finally got tired of it because they were seeing almost the same things for a long time.

They continued traveling using the rafts that they had without even stopping for their lunchtime.

And the things they saw along the way were almost all the same, just in different conditions. For example, the size of debris that they saw was different, the same with the other things that they noticed.

So, the kids also got bored after talking about those things around them.

Instead of looking around, they started reading picture books after they had their lunch.

When they had their lunch Treyton didn’t call for a stop because the place that they were in had no suitable spot to stop at.

So, they just continued sailing through the flood water while taking turns to have lunch.

Of course, Luciel and the kids didn’t have any problems eating first because Astrid and Austin were the ones in charge of moving their raft.

So, they ate first before Astrid and Austin took turns to eat. They also coordinated their lunchtime with the raft they were connected to, as Eric needed to take over Astrid’s job.

Astrid and Eric had done a good job in controlling the rafts as they obviously became more and more proficient.

The two had been switching places since the start whenever the other couldn’t continue anymore, so their proficiency had been improving together.

Of course, Astrid, who had the stronger ability, always controlled their raft more than Eric.

But Astrid had no complaints about it, just like the others who were also controlling the other rafts, as they still had enough rest time.

And they also understood that since they were the ones capable of doing it, they had to do their job properly.

As for Luciel and the others, who were in charge of protecting their rafts, they still had nothing to do as they hadn’t encountered anything dangerous.

It seemed that their luck had been good as they really didn’t encounter any trouble, even when they finally had to rest at night.

Their luck seemed to continue because even after they traveled for two more days, aside from encountering sudden debris that might damage their rafts if they hadn’t been careful, they hadn’t encountered any dangers.

The weather was also nice as, even though it was still cloudy, it hadn’t rained since they started traveling using their rafts.

Because of their luck, they managed to cover a longer distance than they had anticipated before.

However, on the fourth day, their luck seemed to have run out as they had been bumping into more debris.

The road that they had to pass through this time was full of obstacles, so they had to be careful while also clearing their way.

There was also no other road that they could take, so even though it was full of obstacles, they had to clear some of them so that they could continue.

They took a lot of their time in that place, and after getting out, it was already past lunchtime.

So, after making sure that the way ahead was finally clearer and didn’t have a lot of debris blocking their way, they finally began having their lunch.

Their lunches in the past few days were all simple food that they could easily hold in their hands, like pancakes, jerky, crackers, and other things.

Luciel was tired of eating them, so he told Nina to cook something else for their lunch.

And as always, Nina and Richard’s cooking was really delicious, so he was busy enjoying his meal, but at the corner of his eyes, he suddenly saw a zombie coming out of the water and heard the sound of something emerging.

The zombie jumped out of the water at an incredible speed, and it was already near Edna, reaching out for her head.

Thankfully, Luciel reacted fast and managed to block the zombie with the vines that he raised.

As soon as Luciel saw something coming out of the water at the corner of his eyes, he immediately leaned back and touched the vines connected to their rafts.

He quickly controlled the vines and let them instantly grow, especially at the side where the zombie was, so he managed to block the sudden zombie attack.

The zombie was blocked but still held onto the vine and tried to attack again. But Luciel had already started controlling the vines to surround the zombie and break its neck.

Unfortunately, before Luciel could break its neck, it actually spat out water at an incredible speed toward the people in the raft.

Thankfully, Dan was finally able to react and immediately raised some metals that were in their raft, blocking the oncoming water attack of the zombie.

Luciel also immediately snapped the neck of the zombie by incredibly tightening the vines on its neck.

After making sure that the zombie wasn’t moving anymore, Luciel said to Dan and the others, “Quickly dig out its crystal.”

Even though Luciel already wanted to throw out the zombie to continue his interrupted meal, he still ordered the others to remove its zombie crystal as it would be a waste to just throw it out.

The raft they were in didn’t have enough space for the zombie, so Luciel could only hold the zombie with vines first.
