Chapter 365: Chapter 364: Preparing for Lisa’s birthday
“I see,” Luciel said and then turned to Treyton.
“You heard their request, right? I also think that having a birthday party is good, so you should tell the others to prepare.”
“No problem. I’ll tell the others after dinner.”
“Yay! See, big brother Treyton also said that it’s okay!” Sophie said happily while looking at the other kids.
The other kids were also obviously happy after hearing Treyton’s confirmation.
“You guys are happy, that’s good. But since it’s a birthday party and it’s already tomorrow, shouldn’t you guys prepare your gifts for Lisa? Or have you already prepared them?”
Sophie, who had been raising her hands in cheer and smiling happily, stopped what she was doing and then looked at him with a confused face. “Gifts?” she asked.
The others, aside from Lisa, also stopped smiling and looked at him.
“Yes, gifts. You guys also received gifts on your past birthdays, right?”
The kids nodded.
“So, it’s the same. Lisa’s celebrating her birthday, so as her friends, you guys should prepare something for her too.”
“Indeed, we should prepare something,” Ashlee said and seemed to start thinking hard about what to give.
“I’ll also give something to Lisa, but what should I give?” Sophie said out loud, and it was obvious that she really didn’t have any idea at the moment.
“Oh, you guys should really think hard as fast as you can since it’s already for tomorrow,” Luciel said teasingly while looking at the kids, who were obviously starting to think hard on their own.
Seeing them thinking hard, Luciel didn’t bother them and just continued playing the game that he had paused a while ago.
But after about ten minutes, Sophie obviously gave up thinking on her own as Luciel heard her ask, “Lisa, what gifts do you want to receive?”
“I’m already very happy that you’re thinking of my birthday. You don’t need to give me anything.”
“No, no, that’s not good. I need to give you a gift. So, what do you like? I’ll give it to you.”
“Then, I’ll just take anything you give me.”
According to Lottie, she had been learning a lot of things even before the start of the apocalypse because it was needed.
And based on their reactions in the beginning, after seeing the food and other things that the team was accustomed to using, it was obvious that Lottie’s family wasn’t that well-off.
Lisa, who had grown under the care of Lottie, probably already had a concept of working hard for what you need.
And with what they had gone through in the months after the apocalypse began before joining their group, Lisa certainly had a deep understanding of how hard it is to survive outside.
So, it was obvious when she refused to have a party and in her conversation with Sophie that she was actually happy to have her birthday celebrated, but she was afraid of causing trouble to those around her.
Lisa certainly already understood that having a party required people to work on preparing it and a lot of supplies for food and other things.
That’s why, even though she was happy about having a birthday party, she still said that it wasn’t needed.
It was probably the same with gifts. She was afraid to trouble others in preparing gifts for her. So although it was probably true that she would still be very happy even without receiving any gifts from the other kids, she would certainly be happier if she did receive gifts from them. But she still said that she didn’t need any.
With her personality, Sophie probably wouldn’t get any answer from Lisa about what kind of gift she wanted.
And as expected, Sophie asked a few more times, but Lisa’s answer was still the same.
Sophie probably sensed that she couldn’t get any answer from Lisa even if she continued asking again, so she turned to Luciel and asked, “Big brother Luciel, what gift should I give?”
“You have to think of it on your own,” Luciel answered while still playing.
“Then, Big brother Luciel, have you already thought of a gift to give to Lisa?”
“Of course, I have.”
He was too lazy to think more about gifts, so when he agreed to celebrate Lisa’s birthday, he had already decided to give her some snacks and something for her protection.
“Then, big brother, what are you going to give as a gift?”
“I already thought of it, but of course, I won’t tell you,” Luciel smiled teasingly at Sophie, who was looking at him with some anticipation.
“Oh,” Sophie said with disappointment.
But she cheered up fast enough, got up, and went somewhere.
Luciel looked to where she was going and knew that she was probably looking for other members to ask about gifts.
Sophie left to ask others for their opinions, but Ashlee and the other kids remained seated and still thinking on their own.
They obviously had more patience compared to Sophie, who had already given up thinking on her own after ten minutes.
Sophie probably went around asking all the other members of the group, because after a while, Lottie came rushing to where they were and obviously wanted to say something to Treyton and him.
“What is it?” Treyton asked Lottie, who was standing in front of them.
“Sirs, I heard that both of you agreed to celebrate Lisa’s birthday tomorrow.”
“Indeed, we agreed.”
“Thank you very much for agreeing to such a celebration, and I’m really happy about it, but I know that everyone has something to be busy with, so there’s really no need to trouble everyone.
I would just prepare a cake for her, just like what I had been doing for her past birthdays. There’s really no need to trouble others to prepare for a bigger birthday party.”
It seemed that just like Lisa, Lottie was very afraid of troubling others, as she even rushed to where they were just to stop the birthday preparation.
