Chapter 363: Chapter 362: Meeting Rhet 2

“And?” Yang urged after Rhet paused and didn’t continue.

“O-originally, I had always been stocking things that would last for t-two months. That time I d-doubled the amount of the things that I bought. T-that’s why I had enough stock to last for f-four months.

A f-few months ago, when I woke up and saw zombies outside, I-I didn’t dare go anywhere and just stayed inside my apartment.

E-even when the people who didn’t turn into zombies left the apartment, I didn’t leave with them.

W-when all the people in the apartment left, I-I slowly killed the remaining zombies inside aside from the f-first floor, and then I continued to stay in my apartment.

I-I also looked through the apartments for things that I could still use and moved them all into my apartment.

I-I got a lot of supplies because most of the p-people in the building left very early and didn’t bother looting the other apartments.

My neighbor was probably a delivery guy in a wholesale supermarket or s-something related, since he had a lot of boxes of noodles, milk, oats, and other things that were already packed and ready to be d-delivered.

His apartment was al-already full, and my own apartment didn’t have enough space if I moved all his goods, so I just left the rest there. Anyway, our apartments are just next to each other.

I had a lot of supplies, and I-I also didn’t eat a lot. Th-that’s why I managed to survive until now.”

“Wow, you’re incredible! You actually managed to survive until now!” Nathan said as soon as Rhet paused.

“N-not really,” Rhet said in denial.

“No, it’s really amazing that you managed to survive this long while you’re alone,” Nathan said.

“N-no, I only managed to survive because I had a lot of supplies and b-because I only went out of my apartment a few times in the past months.”

“You only went out of your apartment a few times? Then why did you go out this time and come to this building?” Yang asked.

“I-I only have a few supplies left, so I was thinking of looking for more and also moving away if p-possible.

Th-there had always been a lot of zombies moving around before, so even though my supplies were dwindling, I-I didn’t dare go out.

I-it had been snowing heavily for the past days, and it had covered the zombies deeply. Th-that’s why I planned to go out and check the other buildings here.

I-I already saw you guys th-through the camera when you entered this building, and then I-I saw you leaving two days ago.

I also saw you leave and saw how you hardened the ice around, so the a-area that you travelled through isn’t that dangerous anymore.

I wa-waited for a day, and wh-when I saw that you didn’t come back, I planned on checking this building first to see if I-I could get anything useful.

T-this building was the safest, as I-I didn’t have to worry about sudden zombies p-popping out of the ground, so I came here first.”

“I-I didn’t know you guys would come back. I-I’m really s-sorry!

If I knew that you guys were still coming back, I-I wouldn’t have entered this place.

I’m really sorry! P-please let me go! I-I will certainly not appear in front of you again!” Rhet said, looking at them pleadingly before bowing his head immediately.

“Ha ha ha. Relax, we really won’t do anything bad to you,” Nathan said with a smile.

“We don’t mind you entering here since we don’t own this building in the first place and only came to stay here for the time being.

We also didn’t leave anyone to watch over the building, so it’s understandable for you to think we wouldn’t be back any longer.

But you just said that you saw us on camera. What do you mean?” Yang asked.

“W-well, I connected all the solar panels and generators in the building to my apartment. I-I also connected all the CCTV cameras in the building to my room.

I-I even re-rearranged some of the CCTV cameras so they could properly monitor what’s happening around the building and properly m-monitor what’s happening near me.

I would always s-stare at the monitor whenever I saw some people coming near this place or passing by.

Th-that’s why I saw you guys coming and leaving,” Rhet explained.

“I see. May we know what your job was before the appearance of zombies?”

“I-I was a thi-third-year student taking applied ma-mathematics before I stopped. Af-after stopping, I started working online using wh-what I had learned before,” Rhet answered without raising his head.

After Rhet answered, Yang looked at Treyton, clearly asking what they should do with him.

“You said a while ago that you were already considering moving. Since we’ve already met, if you want, you can join us for a while until we leave this area,” Treyton offered.

“R-really? I-is that really okay?” Rhet asked with excitement and doubt.

“Yes, it’s okay.”

“Th-thank you very much!”

“Since you agreed, we should get your things as soon as possible before the blizzard gets stronger. The others will accompany you back to your building,” Treyton said while looking outside.

“T-thank you very much!” Rhet said again.

Treyton then ordered Wes, Theo, Nate, and Samuel to accompany Rhet back.

Rhet happily stood up and went with the others willingly.

After Rhet and the others left, Nathan said again, “Rhet’s really amazing. He actually managed to survive this long while being alone.”

The others agreed with what Nathan said and also praised Rhet for surviving this long by himself.

Luciel also agreed with them. Even though Rhet had only stayed in his apartment and rarely went out, meaning he rarely dealt with the zombies outside, being able to survive for such a long time while completely alone already showed that Rhet was very capable.

Luciel didn’t know why Rhet didn’t move away like the others and just stayed in his apartment, but he had cleaned up the building of zombies and even managed to make it more secure and livable by arranging the things he needed. That alone proved he had some real skills.
