Chapter 336: Chapter 335: Mr. Acacia’s warning 2

“Wow, nice. That sounds really reasonable,” Luciel said, sarcasm lacing his tone.

Treyton chuckled and said, “No need to react that badly. They’re not such a bad family anyway. As long as the arrangements are reasonable and their family doesn’t stand to lose, they won’t do anything reckless. They can even cooperate quite well.”

“I know, but why do you think that old man Mr. Clark was testing me?”

According to the novel, Mr. Clark and his family really were reasonable, just like what Treyton said. That was also why the current North Base had less internal strife compared to others.

Unlike the other bases, which often had a lot of management issues due to power struggles and disagreements between the leaders, the North Base was relatively peaceful.

Of course, there would still be some struggle for benefits for their own groups, but it wouldn’t escalate into bloody battles. It was only later, when something major happened, that their peace was broken.

But currently, Mr. Clark’s family still had a good relationship with Treyton’s family, so sending such an impolite person to invite them really didn’t make sense.

When Luciel thought it over again and remembered that Mr. Clark had apologized for the behavior of his subordinate, he realized the old man was probably testing him.

“Well,” Treyton said, “that old man was probably checking to see if you’re the kind of person who’d just obediently follow me or my family’s lead.”

Luciel chuckled and teased, “Then what do you think was the result?”

“What other result could there be?” Treyton replied with a sigh. “With what you did, he probably thinks we’ve roped in someone a bit crazy and definitely someone not to mess with.

If you were there, you would’ve seen how weirdly he kept looking at me because of what you did. Do you know how hard it was for me not to say, ‘Just ask if you have something in your mind, and don’t keep looking at me as if I have a problem,’?” Treyton said while lightly pinching Luciel’s cheek.

Luciel removed Treyton’s hand that was lightly pinching his cheeks and laughed before saying, “Then you shouldn’t have gone there. If you didn’t go, then you wouldn’t have experienced such a thing.”

“Yeah, I didn’t want to go either. Meeting those old people is really tiring. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a choice.

If I hadn’t gone, then as soon as I got back, Grandfather and my uncles would’ve probably been waiting to give me a long lecture.

They’d even team up and spar with me under the excuse of giving me a lesson,” Treyton said with a sigh.

“This is also the downside of having too many elders. That’s why, aside from being busy before, I didn’t come here often. I really wanted to avoid those long-winded lectures.”

What Treyton said was indeed true. Luciel had already forgotten when was the last time he had to listen to such nagging from family members because it had been many years ago already.

But he still remembered that he never liked listening to those kinds of lectures. So he could understand why Treyton disliked them.

Treyton also had a lot of older relatives, so even though he was already an adult, it couldn’t be helped that he still had to listen to them if something happened.

Luciel didn’t dwell on the topic and shifted the conversation to Mr. Acacia’s warning.

“By the way, Mr. Acacia warned us not to go too far west, since it might be more dangerous than other areas.”

“The west?” Treyton echoed.

“Yes. Mr. Acacia said the energy in the west is more unbalanced and chaotic. He also said that even though we’re still very far from the west, we should be wary of heading too far in that direction.”

“I see. We really are far from the west, so there’s probably no problem for the time being. Did Mr. Acacia inform anyone else about it?”

“Not yet. The researchers who used to visit him haven’t gone there recently, so he didn’t get a chance to tell others.”

“Well, those researchers have probably been too busy ever since the bird attack,” Treyton said. “With what happened, they’ve likely been focusing on studying the birds and developing weapons or defense mechanisms that could work better against flying enemies and aerial attacks.”

“Oh, so that’s why they haven’t had time to visit Mr. Acacia lately.”

“Yeah. As for what Mr. Acacia warned us about, I’ll tell Grandpa and the others before we leave tomorrow morning.”

“So, we’re leaving the base early again tomorrow?”

“Yes, of course. We have to leave early.”

“Then wake me up earlier tomorrow.”

“You should try waking up on your own. Your habits haven’t changed at all. Your attacks when someone tries to wake you up are still as fierce as ever.”

“It’s not even a problem for you, so just wake me up tomorrow morning.”

“Ok. But you’re really being active this time. You’re not even complaining about going out anymore. How long are you planning to keep this up?”

“As I said, I’ll go back to my leisurely life after I reach my goal for physical strength.”

“How strong are you planning to be?”

“Until I can fight for days without any problems.”

“I see. You’ve been pushing yourself to the limit every day. When do you plan to reach that goal?”

“As soon as possible, and it should be before we return to the north base. I’m expecting to have reached my goal by then.”

“That’s only two to three months away. You’re really pushing yourself hard.”

“Of course. I have to, so I can go back to being lazy as soon as possible. Honestly, I even think two or three months is still too long. By the way, you’re planning to train everyone’s battle endurance too, right?”

“Yes. Everyone’s endurance during fights needs to improve so they can last longer when facing large-scale enemies like during the bird attack. I also need to train myself more as I couldn’t even last that long in a prolonged fight compared to you.”
