Chapter 332: Chapter 331: Sparring with others 9

Zam really lived up to his previous title as the captain of Treyton’s bodyguards.

Zam’s physical strength could even be said to be stronger than Treyton’s. His explosive power was even more overwhelming, so Luciel had to redirect most of Zam’s full-power attacks because if he took them head-on, he wouldn’t last long.

His physical strength was his current weakness, so even though he could parry Zam’s normal attacks, when it came to full-power strikes, Luciel mostly chose to redirect or avoid them.

Luciel could still handle Zam’s regular blows, but his only option against stronger attacks was to avoid or deflect them.

Thankfully, Zam’s speed wasn’t as fast as his or Treyton’s. That’s why Luciel could still spar with him effectively and find openings to strike, which also made their spar last a long time.

If Zam had been as fast as Treyton, Luciel probably wouldn’t have lasted long.

He still wasn’t on the same level as them when it came to raw physical strength, so Luciel knew that if Zam had greater speed, he would likely lose.

Well, if they were fighting with their superpowers, Luciel was confident that he could defeat Zam without much trouble, even though Zam’s ice ability was also strong.

Unfortunately, they were only using weapons in this spar, so Luciel had to admit that he could still lose against Zam under those conditions.

Fortunately, Zam’s speed really wasn’t that high, so Luciel managed to hold his ground and spar with him for a long time.

Zam also seemed to be aware of his own weakness, so he had been trying to improve his speed.

Still, his fighting style was heavily focused on overwhelming power, which naturally sacrificed speed, since he needed to concentrate his energy in other parts of his body.

So, Luciel could see that Zam was actually trying to modify some of his fighting techniques and was quite successful in doing so, but there were still some parts that weren’t well connected yet.

He noticed those few unconnected movements, so he knew that Zam was in the process of changing or improving his techniques.

Once Zam finished refining or renewing his fighting techniques, he would surely become even more formidable than before.

After resting for 10 minutes, Luciel sparred with Wes. Wes was different from Zam, he had greater speed but less powerful attacks.

Both he and Wes relied on speed in their fighting, so their battle moved at an even faster pace than when he fought Zam or Treyton.

They would attack and counterattack each other as quickly as possible. Their weapons only clashed briefly before separating and striking from new angles again.

After fighting intensely for a long time, both of them stopped at the same time and ended their spar.

Wes indeed didn’t have as much power in his attacks compared to Zam, but he was extremely fast.

That speed made their fight just as tiring, as both of them pushed themselves to move faster than the other, trying to land clean hits.

After another rest, he sparred with Myla. Myla’s muscular build was clearly not just for show, she was very strong. Her fighting style was also full of power, just like Zam’s.

Almost every one of her attacks was packed with strength, so Luciel had to either redirect them or avoid them entirely.

The next person he fought was Liam. Liam was also very strong, on par with Myla.

However, his fighting style was extremely aggressive, and it seemed like he didn’t rely much on thinking as Luciel could see that he didn’t carefully choose where to attack or defend. Most of his reactions were purely instinctive.

It could be said that Liam was truly talented, but he mainly relied on instinct and rarely thought things through, which was obvious when he responded to unexpected attacks.

He would continuously attack without any particular plan. He would just charge toward his opponent and try to overpower them with brute force.

With his strength, Liam could probably be the vice leader of Zam’s group. However, that position was given to Mia, most likely because Liam really wasn’t the type to think before acting.

Mia, who was less physically strong than Liam but used her brain more effectively, was appointed as the vice leader of their subgroup.

When he fought Mia, he could clearly see her personality reflected in her fighting style. It could be said that she was very steady and well-balanced.

Among all of them, she had the most balanced combination of speed and power in her attacks.

After sparring with Mia, he continued fighting with the other members of the group as well.

However, the duration of the spars began to shorten, and he was able to defeat the rest without much difficulty.

The others were still strong, but not at the level of Zam and the others. Their fighting ability with the weapons they wielded also wasn’t as refined.

That was actually understandable, considering such weapons weren’t commonly used in modern times.

If they were using guns, Luciel was certain that most of them wouldn’t have any problems. But since they were using cold weapons, like swords, glaives, and daggers, which were not standard in modern combat, their techniques were still lacking.

Most people only encountered glaives or swords if they had a personal interest in historical or martial weapons.

They probably had a better grasp of daggers since they used them alongside their guns, but maybe because Luciel used the glaive first, the others chose to use it while sparring with him as well.

They also typically used their glaives when fighting zombies, so they had practical experience with the weapon. However, the way they used it still needed improvement, which, in truth, was very normal.

It could even be said that their current level was the standard, while Treyton, Zam, and the others were simply exceptional. That’s also why they were considered the strongest members of the team.

Still, even though their glaive technique wasn’t highly developed, it didn’t mean they were weak.

Aside from wielding glaives, they also had their own abilities and areas of expertise that made them strong in their own ways.
