Chapter 366: The Beginning Of The End [XXVIII]

FWOOM!

A thick layer of frost burst from under Aestrea’s feet, spreading in a wide circle. The floor crackled as ice climbed up the walls like living vines, swallowing everything in its path.

One god reacted first.

He dashed straight at Aestrea, preparing to punch him.

BOOM!

Aestrea raised his arm, blocking the punch with a hard sheet of ice that formed instantly around his forearm.

The impact shook the whole room.

Crack, crack, crack!

Thin fractures spread across the ice shield, but it didn’t break.

Aestrea kicked back.

THUD!

His heel hit the god’s ribs, sending him sliding across the frozen floor.

Another one came from the right with his arms glowing with raw heat, each punch leaving a burning trail in the air.

SHSHSHSH!!

Aestrea leaned back, the fiery fists passing right in front of his face.

The heat singed the air, but the cold around Aestrea froze the trails instantly, turning the burnt streaks into small falling shards.

The fire-wielder punched again, straight at Aestrea’s temple.

Aestrea ducked low.

SWOOP!

He thrust his palm toward the ground.

CRACK!!

A pillar of sharp ice erupted upward, but the fire-wielder twisted his body and jumped away at the last second, boots skidding on the ice.

Another god lunged in from behind him, swinging a long, heavy chain glowing red-hot.

The chain cut through the air, snapping towards Aestrea a tremendous speed.

WHIP!!

Aestrea turned his entire body sideways, barely slipping past it. The chain smashed into the wall, exploding a chunk of ice into sharp fragments.

Those fragments didn’t fall.

They spun in the air.

Aestrea snapped his fingers.

Tink, tink, tink!

Dozens of ice shards shot forward like tiny bullets.

The chain-wielder raised his arm, metal links wrapping around him like a shield, but the shards tore through the first layer, cutting into his shoulder and leg.

Blood sprayed in a messy arc across the frozen ground.

Another god, the fastest one, appeared behind Aestrea with a silent flicker, hand shaped like a knife, aiming for Aestrea’s throat.

Aestrea didn’t look, and slowly, he spun around, icy mist bursting from his feet, and caught the god’s wrist mid-strike.

CRACK!!

The bone snapped under his grip.

Aestrea lifted him and threw him across the room.

THUD!!

The body rolled across the ice, leaving thin trails of blood.

Three of them surrounded him again, circling, stepping lightly, weapons glowing, ready for another rush.

BOOOOM!

Their authorities were activated to the maximum as bright, sharp, furious flames burst out from the god’s back, spreading wide as he charged forward.

Heat rolled across the frozen room, melting the frost under his feet in fast, messy lines.

The air warped around him, waves of orange light bending and twisting with every flap of those blazing wings.

The judgment chains lit up next.

Red-hot links glowed from end to end, turning almost white at the center.

They rattled and sparked as they flew through the air, moving like snakes with a mind of their own.

Every swing cut through the fog, leaving lines of steam behind. Each impact on the ground cracked the ice with heavy, echoing thuds.

And finally, it was the burning sword’s turn.

It roared almost as if it were alive, causing a deep, rough vibration that shook the frozen floor, humming with thick fire that spilled down the blade.

Every move made sparks rain out in all directions.

Then, without wasting any time, the three gods moved first.

Fwoop!

The flame-winged one shot toward him like a bullet, body leaning forward, fists blazing.

Every step blasted a small explosion of heat that crushed the ice under his boots. He swung a punch straight toward Aestrea’s head.

FWOOOM!!

Aestrea leaned to the side, letting the fist cut through empty air. The heat brushed against his cheek, leaving a faint burn.

The flame-winged god twirled mid-air, spinning like a falling ember and slamming a kick toward Aestrea’s ribs.

Aestrea raised his arm to block.

CRACK!!

An ice shield formed instantly and took the impact, but the kick burned through the first layer, sending a wave of fire across Aestrea’s body.

The shield shattered into glowing fragments, and at the same time, the judgment chains shot towards him.

WHIP!

Three chains came down from different angles, each one aiming for a neutralizing hit in Aestrea’s body, the neck, ribs, or legs.

They were sharp, clean strikes meant to restrain or tear.

Aestrea jumped back, sliding across his own ice. The first chain slammed into the floor where he had stood.

BOOM!!

The ground broke apart in a spreading circle.

The second chain followed, spinning, wrapping around itself like a drill as it stabbed forward. Aestrea swept his arm.

FWISH!

A thin wall of cold materialized, but the chain punched right through it, until Aestrea formed more ice under it, trapping the links inside the freezing mass.

The chain-wielder pulled hard.

Their body jerked forward, losing balance for just a moment.

Aestrea took it and then kicked the ground before slamming his knee into their jaw.

CRACK!!

The impact sent the god flipping backward, rolling across the frozen floor while the trapped chain shattered into dozens of frozen pieces.

But the flame-winged god was already behind Aestrea again.

He swung both arms down, flames splitting into two large arcs that collided on Aestrea’s back like crashing waves.

BOOOOM!!

A huge burst of heat swallowed the whole area, melting the ice in a huge circle.

Aestrea slid forward, his boots grinding against the wet floor.

Steam rose off his back as the burned fabric flaked away. The skin beneath healed instantly, ice crawling back over the wound in thin lines.

The burning-sword wielder charged next.

He dashed forward with wide steps, his sword dragging across the ground and leaving a burning trail that cut through the melting ice.

Fwip!

He swung the sword horizontally.

Aestrea ducked low.

The flame sliced through the air above his head, cutting through a chunk of curved ice behind him and melting it instantly.

The sword came down next, straight for Aestrea’s skull.

Aestrea raised both arms.

CRACK!!!

A thick slab of ice erupted upward, catching the blade, but after a single second, the sword burned right through it.

FWOOSH!!

Flames poured down like a waterfall.

Aestrea rolled aside.

The slash hit the floor, splitting it open in a long crack that glowed with fire. Steam exploded upward, turning everything into a white haze.

Aestrea thrust his hand into the mist.

Ice burst outward.

SHRRRACK!!

A long spike shot forward at chest height.

The sword-wielder spun, letting the spike scrape past his ribs. A few layers of his armor froze instantly, breaking off as he moved.

But the flame-winged god crashed in again, fist punching straight toward Aestrea’s jaw.

Aestrea blocked with his elbow.

THUD!!

The force shook his bones, sending him back a few steps.

The chain-wielder recovered too, chains snapping back into place. He rushed forward and slammed both chains down like twin hammers.

Aestrea spread his arms.

CRACK!

CRACK!!

CRACK!!!

A wall of ice rose from the floor in a wide arc, catching the chains. The metal links froze in place, trapped again.

However, the chain-wielder didn’t stop, and instead pulled the chains even harder than before, almost grinding his teeth.

The trapped chains snapped free from the ice, sending dozens of frozen shards flying through the air in every direction like small knives.

Aestrea shielded his face.

Tink, bing!

The shards bounced off his ice-covered skin, but he wasn’t exactly safe as the sword-wielder swung again.

A huge, heavy vertical slash roared toward him.

Aestrea instantly stomped the ground.

BOOM!!

A thick column of ice shot upward under the god’s feet, throwing off his balance. The sword strike veered sideways, carving a massive burning cut through the floor.

The flame-winged god flew down again from above, wings spreading open as he aimed a straight downward strike with both burning fists.

Aestrea spun his whole body, and then, a cold air burst around him.

FWOOOOSH!

Sharp ice fragments swirled out in a heavy spin.

The flame-wielder barreled through them, getting dozens of cuts across his arms and face, but he didn’t stop, slamming his attack downward.

BOOOOM!!!

The impact cracked the floor open in a huge crater, sending Aestrea sliding back across the ground again.

His boots scraped against the shattered ice, leaving thin red streaks where his skin tore from the force.

Steam and frost burst upward in messy clouds, swallowing half the room in white.

Aestrea finally came to a stop, one knee hitting the ground.

He leaned forward, and then…

“PFFT—!”

He spat out a heavy mouthful of bright red blood that hit the floor in a thick splash.

It steamed instantly against the cold ground.

Aestrea wiped his lips with the back of his hand, dragging the blood away in a slow line. His fingers trembled, not from fear, but from complete annoyance.

His eyes narrowed.

‘…Tsk. Do I need to use my sword art? I didn’t want to destroy the place since there are important documents in here…’

The only reason he was avoiding the sword art was simple… it could cut through his own domain.

And anything outside it.

If he used it in this closed room, the cut wouldn’t stop at the barriers; it would carry straight through the domain, slicing the shelves, the files, and probably half the floor beneath them.

And those files were valuable.

After all, these gods weren’t ordinary ones as they were the masterminds pulling the strings of the Sanctum Faction, one of the biggest internal threats he still needed to erase.

If he destroyed these documents, he’d lose everything they were hiding.

And if he destroyed them here, now, it would make wiping out the entire faction stupidly easy afterward.

Then, once Sanctum fell, every major faction inside the academy would be finished since he had already indirectly destroyed the Valkyric Division and, with his army, he had already slaughtered the Seraphic Division.

After that, he could move on to the outside factions, starting with the Eternal Tribunal before going towards the three major factions represented by the “main” gods.

Aestrea tilted his head back slightly, letting a cold breath escape his lips.

“…Fuck.”

He spat another thin line of blood onto the frozen ground, the red spreading slowly across the cracks.

“…I will use the third move…”
