Chapter 335: Karma (LIII)
The next day, I found myself standing in front of the Student Council Office.
It was time for my meeting with the President.
“Haaa…”
I sighed, adjusting my tie before raising my hand and knocking twice on the heavy wooden door.
“Come in.”
That familiar, calm, and fucking irritating voice drifted from inside.
I pushed the door open, and there she was.
Lunara.
Her dark blue hair shimmered faintly under the morning light, strands falling over her shoulder like velvet silk.
Her eyes were a deep shade of violet, calm yet sharp, as if they could slice right through you without emotion.
She wore the academy’s white-and-gold uniform, though on her it somehow looked far more elegant, almost regal.
Her curves were impossible to ignore, full breasts pressed slightly against her uniform, long legs crossed neatly beneath the desk, and an aura that could make half the academy kneel without a word.
Of course, I didn’t react to her beauty.
I couldn’t feel lust towards such an irritating woman.
“Take a seat,” she said, barely glancing up from the stack of papers she was writing on.
I quietly walked in and chose a chair at the far end of the long meeting table.
No way in hell I’m sitting near her.
Really… no fucking way.
“Why so far away?” she asked suddenly, her pen pausing midair. When she looked up, those violet eyes met mine, cold and expressionless.
“I don’t bite.”
Normally, this would be a phrase to tease people, but the way she said it was so fucking mechanical that it actually sounded scary instead of playful.
“…No reason,” I replied after a second. “I just figured this was the best spot, so I wouldn’t disturb your work.”
“I see…”
Her voice softened slightly as she returned to her papers.
[Lunara’s Affection +1!]
Huh?
I blinked in surprise at the panel right in front of me.
Is this something she also added?
But thinking about this, I didn’t hesitate and used 『 Scan 』.
[Target: Lunara, The Goddess of Judgement]
[Race: Superior God]
[Rank: 7✯ True God (87%)]
[Authorities: Judgement & God-Killing]
[Favorability: 11 (She doesn’t find you annoying. That’s a start!)]
[Loyalty: 00 (She’s not your lover or subordinate)]
[Sexual Desire: 00 (As cold as the abyss)]
[Thoughts: What a polite junior… I must treat him well as my secretary!]
I blinked again, dumbfounded.
Her favorability in my past reincarnations had never been positive. Actually, it had been way below zero; she practically wanted to erase me from existence.
But of course, she wouldn’t do anything against me because of her sister.
…I miss Luna already.
However… she has the God-Killing Authority, huh?
I didn’t know about that…
We stayed in silence for almost half an hour after that… the only sounds being her pen scratching across paper and the faint ticking of the wall clock.
Then, finally, she waved her hand, and the piles of documents vanished in a shimmer of divine light.
She leaned back in her chair, resting her elbows on the table, her fingers interlaced under her chin.
“Now,” she said calmly, her purple eyes locking onto mine, “shall we talk about what you’re actually going to do?”
I nodded slightly, sitting straighter.
“As you know, you’ll be serving as my secretary. Because of that, you’re officially exempted from attending classes.”
Words could not express my happiness as soon as I heard those words.
But then she continued, killing my newfound happiness in one single shot.
“However,” she added, her tone sharpening, “you’ll be spending most of your hours here — working with me through countless documents about the academy… or other things.”
Her eyes narrowed at the last moment, as if emphasizing the “things”.
“You’ll also be responsible for organizing my meetings and keeping my schedule in perfect order. Is that clear?”
“Yes,” I replied immediately, nodding politely.
“Understood.”
[Lunara’s Affection +2!]
I swear she was testing me, but she seemed satisfied anyway.
“Good. Then, unfortunately for you— or maybe not—” she said with the faintest smirk, “please take the seat next to me. You’ll be helping me review these files.”
I hesitated only a moment before getting up and moving to the chair at her left. The one on her right was clearly for the Vice President.
She had previously sat there during our previous meeting.
[Lunara’s Affection +1!]
…Damn.
Is it really this easy to raise her affection?
Plop!
Three new stacks of papers appeared out of thin air as Lunara waved her hand with practiced grace.
“You can organize and review them however you like,” she said calmly. “Once you’re done, I’ll go over your work and explain any mistakes.”
I nodded, pulling the nearest stack toward me.
The first title I read almost made me choke.
“…’Goddess Lunara’s Fanclub Application’?”
The words slipped out before I could stop myself.
“Ah…”
I glanced at her instinctively. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, a faint rosy hue beneath her cool demeanor.
Was she… embarrassed?
“Don’t look at me,” she muttered quickly, fanning her face with one hand.
“Those guys are just… pervs.”
Her ears were pink, though she pretended not to notice. With a quiet sigh, she picked up her own set of papers and began reading.
Her composure returned almost immediately, her expression slipping back into its calm, stoic self.
I followed her lead, focusing on the work in front of me. Naturally, that particular application was denied, with prejudice.
And just like that…
I ended up spending the next five hours alone with the Goddess of Judgement.
And honestly… it was pretty enjoyable.
Every half hour, she’d call for a short fifteen-minute break.
We’d share coffee, sometimes tea, and small portions of sweets she somehow conjured from thin air.
Between bites, we actually talked… whether it was about the academy, the gods, the divine factions… even about things as mundane as mortal food preferences.
Her knowledge was vast, almost intimidating, as she had extremely sharp opinions, but she didn’t lord it over me. It was like talking to someone who actually listened.
And before I realized it, my “shift” was already over.
“Mmh… that was something~” I muttered, stretching my arms lazily over my head, hearing my joints pop.
To be honest, I’d grown weirdly comfortable around her.
It was crazy to think that I’d get comfortable with her in a single day, but maybe it’s because I know that I’d never have a single lustful thought about her.
And yeah… she too seemed comfortable with me as her affection had skyrocketed during those hours too.
[Lunara’s Affection: 31 (He’s extremely good company.)]
She leaned back in her chair, giving me a faint, almost genuine smile.
“I agree,” she said softly. “You did perfectly well today. You’re excused for now, Aestrea. Have a good night.”
I rose from my chair and nodded politely.
“You too, President.”
With that, I left the office.
It was oddly quiet as no other members were around.
Maybe they were dismissed early, or maybe she just preferred working alone. Either way, I didn’t care enough to ask.
When I reached my dorm and opened the door, a familiar voice greeted me immediately.
“Welcome back, Aestrea~,” Christina said sweetly, stepping up to me.
She took my jacket off with practiced elegance, hanging it neatly by the door.
“Would you like to have dinner, a bath…” she licked her lips slowly, her eyes gleaming mischievously, “or me~?”
I stared at her blankly for a few seconds.
“Join me in a bath.”
And I just walked past her like it was the most normal thing in the world.
“H-huh?” she stammered, her face turning bright red.
Her reaction was almost funny. I’d turned down every one of her flirtatious attempts before, and I still was, but right now, I just needed to relax.
A hot bath with quiet company didn’t sound so bad.
“Mhm…?”
When I stepped inside, I froze for a moment.
The bath was already prepared, steam rising gently from the clear water, flower petals floating across the surface, their fragrance rich and faintly sweet.
The air itself felt warm, almost dreamy.
“Well… don’t mind me~”
I stripped off my clothes and hung them neatly on the rack before slipping into the water. The instant the heat touched my skin, a deep sigh escaped me.
“Ooohh~… this feels so fucking good.”
I leaned back, closing my eyes, letting the warmth soak through every inch of me.
A few minutes later, I heard the soft creak of the door opening, followed by gentle footsteps. I didn’t bother to look, not until I felt the water ripple.
When I opened my eyes, I saw the smooth, pale curve of Christina’s milky white back as she slowly stepped into the tub.
Without thinking, I reached forward and pulled her toward me.
“K-kyaa!”
Splash!
Her startled cry echoed in the steamy air as she fell onto my lap. My arms wrapped around her shoulders, my chin resting lazily on her damp neck.
“A-ah… g-gulp…”
Her skin was warm to the touch, and her breathing had quickened significantly. Also, the faint tremble in her voice was extremely adorable.
“Christina,” I murmured softly against her ear.
“How’s the recruitment going?”
Her shoulders twitched; her ears turned red.
“I… I’ve managed to gather more than two hundred gods,” she stammered, her voice shaky but proud.
“Their strength ranges from low to high level. I also secured twenty-seven one-star True Gods, twelve two-star, four three-star, and—” she hesitated, smiling faintly, “one six-star True God. That one cost me nearly all the divine crystals we had stored, but I promised him access to a small percentage of our gains… that convinced him.”
My eyes widened slightly.
“…That’s perfect.”
I hadn’t expected her to work this fast, or this effectively.
She really had a talent for this.
“Good,” I said after a pause, lowering my voice.
“Tell them to prepare themselves. We’ll strike the Seraphic Division in three days. They’re the weakest of the four divisions… so it’s best to start there.”
“O-okay…”
Her voice softened, almost melting as she leaned back against my chest.
I smiled faintly, brushing my hand through her hair. The soft strands slid between my fingers like silk.
“T-then…”
“Yeah?” I asked lazily, half expecting some sly comment.
“Can I ask for… a reward?” she whispered, biting her lower lip.
I chuckled.
“Sure. You’ve earned it.”
She had done such a great job, it’s clear that I need to reward her, but I’m curious about what she wants… maybe some divine crystal for herself?
Mhm…
I’m not sure… remembering her obsession towards me, she might just ask for something related to me… ahem.
Her fingers fidgeted nervously, and then she spoke, voice trembling:
“Can I… gulp…! K-kiss you… on the lips?”
Her face turned crimson as she avoided my gaze.
A kiss, huh? That’s it?
I couldn’t help a faint smile.
“Sure.”
