Chapter 272: Aestrea Against The World (XLIX)

Aestrea’s grip tightened again.

CRRRRSHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Another wing tore free from Alen’s back, feathers scattering like broken fragments of divinity.

Blood gushed in thick streams, soaking into the ground. The angel’s shriek tore through the air, raw and guttural, a sound of pure despair.

“AAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!”

He thrashed helplessly, his body convulsing as if his very essence was unraveling.

The once proud warrior of heaven now lay trembling in the dirt, sobbing through clenched teeth, broken.

Aestrea let the second wing fall to the ground with a dull thud, his glowing eyes looking as calm as ever.

He raised his foot above Alen’s face, his expression unreadable, as his smile widened lightly.

“Now…” His voice was calm, almost gentle. “…what happens if I smash your head like an insect?”

His foot began to descend, but then…

FWOOOOOOOOM!!!

A deafening roar split the sky as a pillar of golden light shot down from the heavens.

It struck with the weight of judgment itself, a torrent of divine power that swallowed everything in its path, aiming to obliterate Aestrea where he stood.

The ground quaked violently. Christina shielded her eyes, choking on her breath. To be touched by that light meant being erased from the face of the planet.

But Aestrea only glanced at it, his silver aura flashing through his eyes.

“…Disappear.”

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The pillar of light blinked out of existence, erased completely, as if it had never touched the world.

The sky cleared, the ground stilled, and silence swallowed the battlefield.

Alen’s eyes widened in pure horror, his whole body trembling.

His voice cracked as he stammered, “W-what…? You… y-you can use the Words of Law…? That… that means you’re… an a-actual g-god…”

His face was pale, his lips shaking, tears streaking down his bloodied skin.

What Aestrea had just used were the words of law.

The Words of Law were the ultimate authority of existence. Only gods were permitted such dominion.

To speak was to command reality itself.

‘That’s the power of a god?’ Aestrea raised an eyebrow. He was quite surprised, after all, his whole power is based on his chaotic energy.

Because, without utilizing his chaotic energy, he would barely match an SS-rank awakener in terms of physical strength.

‘Interesting…’

Aestrea turned to Alen, ready to finally kill him.

“Bye-bye.”

But just before he could move his hand, the sky suddenly trembled.

KRRRSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Clouds ripped apart like torn paper, the heavens themselves opening wide. Blinding golden light poured through the cracks, stretching across the world like a burning sea.

From that light… figures began to fall.

One, two, ten…

Hundreds.

Thousands.

Wings spread wide, blades drawn, their armor shining with holy brilliance, an endless host of angels, each radiating killing intent.

Their voices rose together in a thunderous chant, shaking the earth beneath.

“SLAY THE HERETIC!!”

The sound rolled like thunder, pressing down on every mortal heart below. Many dropped to their knees, unable to breathe under the weight of their voices alone.

“So many…! So many of them… all for him…!” Christina clutched her chest, her eyes wide with terror.

The sky became a storm of white wings, blotting out the sun. Spears of holy light rained down, streaking toward the lone figure standing calmly amidst the chaos.

“Man…”

Aestrea didn’t move as he looked at the army of angels.

And just then, the first spear screamed down.

WHOOSH—!!

It struck the ground where he stood.

BOOOOOOOM!

The explosion tore a crater into the battlefield, rocks and dust flying high into the air.

Yet when the dust cleared… Aestrea was still there, completely untouched, his foot still pressing down on Alen’s broken chest.

He tilted his head up, eyes glowing faint silver, watching as more and more angels swarmed down.

“…So heaven wants me dead that badly?”

His smile returned, slow and chilling.

“Good.”

BAAAM!

Aestrea’s silver aura flared, his foot grinding down harder on Alen’s chest.

The broken angel coughed blood, his eyes wide with fear as he looked at the endless army above.

FWOOOOOSH!!

The angels descended in a rain of blades and wings.

The first one came screaming with a glowing spear. Aestrea didn’t dodge as his hand simply shot forward:

CRACK!

He caught the angel by the throat mid-air, his fingers digging in so deep the bones snapped like dry twigs.

The angel’s eyes bulged, mouth open in a silent scream. Aestrea yanked down.

SLAM!

The body smashed into the ground, and before the dust even rose, Aestrea ripped his throat open with his bare hand, tossing the corpse aside like garbage.

Another angel came, sword glowing. Aestrea turned, silver energy crackling over his arm, and simply chopped down with the side of his hand.

SCHHHHKKK!

The blade shattered along with the arm.

And before the angel could even cry, Aestrea shoved his hand deep into the chest, fingers piercing ribs, flesh tearing, and pulled.

RRRIIIIIPPPP!!

The angel’s body split in half, blood spraying across the battlefield like rain.

Aestrea spread his arms, the two halves dangling from his hands before he tossed them away.

Gasps echoed through the watching world…

Right now, every city, every battlefield, every palace… mirrors of black glass had appeared in the sky, floating above lands and seas.

And through them, everyone saw the massacre.

The one who had made this possible was standing far away, surrounded by screens of shadow, his grin wider than it had ever been.

Kagetaro.

His sharp eyes glittered with madness, his teeth showing in a grin that almost split his face.

“Look at him. Look at him!! That’s our Aestrea. The one who makes gods tremble. Let the whole world see how heaven bleeds before him!”

And the world was seeing… including Aestrea’s partners…

BOOM!

Three angels rushed in at once. Their swords of light swung together, aiming for Aestrea’s neck, heart, and waist.

He tilted his head, silver energy shimmering in his eyes.

Time slowed.

The blades crawled toward him like falling leaves. Aestrea moved with calm ease, his body weaving between them.

His hand shot out, grabbing one angel by the wing.

RRRIPPPPP!

The wing tore free, feathers scattering like snow, the scream of the angel piercing the sky.

Aestrea didn’t stop, and with the wing still in his hand, he swung it like a blade.

SSHHHHHK!

It sliced through the throat of another angel, blood spraying like a fountain.

The third angel barely had time to gasp before Aestrea slammed his palm against his face.

BOOOOOM!!

The skull exploded in a burst of flesh and bone, fragments raining across the ground.

The crowd of angels above almost hesitated. Even they, heaven’s perfect soldiers, felt fear crawling in their chests.

But as the subordinates of heavens… they couldn’t stop.

“KILL HIIIIIMMMMM!”

Aestrea simply lifted his gaze.

His silver aura burned brighter, licking his body like wild flames.

His hand reached down, pulling the half-broken spear of an angel from the dirt. He twirled it once, then hurled it into the sky.

WHOOSH!

It skewered four angels in a row, their bodies twitching before bursting into light and ash.

The people watching screamed, some even cried in horror.

But Kagetaro… oh, Kagetaro only laughed.

“AHAHAHAHAHA! Do you see it? Do you see it? This is no mortal! This is no man! This… is the beginning of despair for heaven!” His grin stretched further, his eyes locked only on Aestrea.

Fsshhh!

One angel tried to attack from behind. Aestrea didn’t even look as he waved his hand, and chains snapped into being, wrapping around the angel’s limbs.

“Break.”

The chains pulled in opposite directions.

SNAP—!!

Arms ripped off, and his legs were torn away.

The angel’s body fell apart piece by piece, still screaming as the threads dragged the remains across the ground.

Another angel swooped in to save him. Aestrea caught him by the jaw, lifted him like a child, and slammed him face-first into the dirt.

CRACKKK!

The skull shattered.

Blood painted the earth red.

More angels fell.

Some tried to chant holy words, sending blasts of golden light. Aestrea only raised his hand.

“Shatter.”

Every beam of light broke apart like glass, crumbling before they could reach him.

He appeared among them like a phantom, teleporting with each step. His hand pierced chests, ripped spines, tore wings.

He split one angel completely down the middle, pulling the body apart with both hands, silver aura burning as blood sprayed in a wide arc.

The world saw everything.

The people trembled, watching through Kagetaro’s screens. Children cried, kings cursed, and priests dropped to their knees.

And Kagetaro’s grin… grew wider still. His eyes burned with twisted joy as his voice whispered like poison.

“Yes… yes… keep watching. Watch as he rips your so-called guardians apart. Watch as heaven screams.”

His arms were spread open as he got onto his knees, looking at Aestrea like he was his most delighted idol.

His mask slowly rolled down, revealing a face too beautiful to be of a man.

His… her eyes were of a faint gray color, as her hair spilled onto her shoulders, revealing a midnight color.

“Watch… as a new god is born before your eyes.”

She muttered, and everyone who was looking at the screen was finally able to see her real face.

“The God of…” she whispered, her voice faltering as her eyes locked on Aestrea’s figure bathed in silver energy.

On the battlefield, his movements were pure carnage.

He grabbed an angel by the throat, lifted him up with one hand, and then tore him open from chest to stomach with the other.

Blood sprayed like a fountain as the angel’s scream ripped through the skies.

SNAP!

Another angel dove at him from behind, blade glowing with holy fire.

Aestrea didn’t even turn his head. He twisted his arm backward, snatched the angel mid-flight, and ripped off his wing in one violent pull.

The bones cracked, the feathers scattered in the wind, and the angel’s shriek echoed as he was slammed face-first into the ground so hard the earth split apart.

“MONSTER!!” one cried, thrusting a spear of light down.

Aestrea caught it between two fingers.

His cold eyes shifted, and with a small twist of his wrist, the spear shattered into dust.

Then, before the angel could react, his hand pierced straight through his chest. He pulled out the heart, still beating, and crushed it without even glancing.

The camera followed as Aestrea lifted another angel, his fingers digging into the skull.

CRRRK—!!

He split the head in two, letting the corpse fall limp. His silver aura only burned brighter as more angels swarmed him.

Crack!

His foot crushed an angel’s neck, before his hand clamped onto another’s jaw and ripped it off with one brutal yank.

SPLURT!

He swung the bloody bone like a blade, slashing open the throat of the next angel who dared approach.

The world gasped.

Millions of voices screamed, prayed, or wept. Children cried, soldiers trembled, and kings and emperors fell silent.

And the woman’s voice, trembling as her face stayed on the screen, finally spoke the word that froze every heart.

“The God of Karma.”
