The Strongest Curse Master - Chapter 458
Chapter 458: Expert From Capital
“Your Highness, our curse sensors couldn’t track him. It appears guardian Dick has achieved a higher mastery over the void. This also means your curse senses have also grown remarkably, seeing how you sensed him before he neared you. Congratulations, Your Highness,” Trixie reported to her master, without forgetting to congratulate him on his growing curse senses.
“No need to celebrate over something that comes naturally to everyone. It’s not surprising that as my body is maturing, my latent curse abilities are also developing. I bet once my brain has fully developed, I can then truly claim to be the smartest being in both the worlds,” I remarked, knowing that my current abilities hadn’t reached my full potential as they were still underdeveloped with a lot of untapped potential because of my child body. I couldn’t wait to turn 25, when my brain was fully developed, and announce to everyone in both the worlds, ‘You all are dumb.’
Indulging in a moment of vanity, my mood improved. Planning to earn my keep, I said, “Trixie, pull up the files Dick shared about the mission. Let’s find out what could get the President, the Wisemen, and the Curse Council’s panties in a bunch.”
I was sold on the mission the moment Dick said I had the permission to kill anyone with a hint of suspicion. The last time I was assigned to such a mission, it didn’t feel like I was on a job but on a vacation. Just thinking about it makes me excited.
Dick knew this too, which was why he left without even waiting to hear my answer. This was one thing I liked about Dick: he wasn’t like those annoying salesmen who failed to close a sure deal by talking too much, because they did not know just when to shut the fuck up.
“I warned them to update their curse servers with my patent-pending curse tech, but they were too cheap to listen to my warning. Now their cheapness could spell the end of his country. Funny how the country that debates about my nation’s downfall now is begging me to save them from complete destruction, hahaha. Fuck, these guys are shameless,” I laughed, going through details of the urgent mission C.I.B. assigned to me.
Turns out a third-rate cult managed to infiltrate deep into the ranks of the C.I.B. getting their hands on sensitive information that was never supposed to see the light of day. But once C.I.B. found their treachery, the Cult didn’t hesitate to leak this information to the rest of the world through curse web.
The leaked information shocked the world, especially the country’s curse community. How could they not be, after learning that an entire department within the C.I.B. was tasked with surveilling major cities and hubs to track unregistered curse users and coerce them into registering with the country? Not to mention that those who resisted were locked up under false pretenses until they gave in.
Obviously, the Curse Council wasn’t happy with this either. But what was astonishing was that the Curse Council gave this two-faced country and its greedy people a second chance. It seems even the Curse Council could not ignore the trade benifits with this country. They were both its biggest buyers and suppliers in the mortal world. If they were gone, who would fill the void left by them? No other country came close to filling its shoes. To protect their interests, the Curse council had no choice but to give them a second chance.
The second chance came with some conditions, of course, like for example the Country would suspend all their secret operations that violated the fundamental rights of all curse users and do everything in its power to correct its mistakes and those affected by them.
And that was where I came in. Though they had already taken necessary actions to satisfy the Curse Council’s demands, they wanted me to go to the branch of C.I.B. that not only infiltrated by the cultists but also attacked by them, to scour through it and ensure they weren’t vulnerable from any angle, if they were, he was supposed to handle it immediately.
Basically, find the loose ends and take care of them before they become a problem.
To sum it up, kill everyone who managed to slip through the cracks.
The best thing about this was that the C.I.B. was too focused on covering their ass, and they wouldn’t mind if I had a little fun as long as I did the job they assigned to me.
“Trixie, pack my bags. We are going down south. Don’t forget to pack my toys. It’s about time we went on a vacation,” I ordered my AI, as I stretched while closing all the tabs and wondering how I could use this to get to the bottom of the Roanoak conspiracy.
…
Arriving at the C.I.B. branch headquarters, attacked by a third-rate cult, I looked at their heightened security and smirked, thinking, ‘What good will it do now, you fools?’
Shaking my head, I told the acting E.A.D of the branch, who received me, that I wanted to directly get to work and show me to the office I will be working from. It turns out my reputation preceded me. The acting E.A.D had emptied an entire floor for me and my droids. Giving me full access to their branch’s curse servers and necessary information on the remote curse servers, the acting E.A.D made herself scarce to let me do my thing in peace.
Within an hour of starting, I had already vetted every agent assigned to his branch, their families, curse users registered at his branch or to be registered at this branch and their families, and pointed out the rats that managed to slip through during the chaos also clearing those that were wrongly accused.
Next, I had my assassin droids hunt them down, and by the evening, they took out the last target. As such, I had officially completed my job in no more than twelve hours.
