Chapter 300: I want to make him my Son-In-Law

Raayani’s guardwoman announced her presence, and Caelum agreed to meet her.

Raayani told her women to stay behind as she made her way inside the tent. Veydrin followed her behind, as he didn’t want to let her inside alone.

Caelum sat in the chair, reading a document which his knight had brought in just now.

Eran stood beside him, watching Raayani walk towards them.

Caelum put the paper on the desk before him and looked at Raayani. His expression was stoic, no emotion was shown, as if he was immune to her charms.

Though it wasn’t the case for his knights, as they were practically dazed.

“Raayani,” Caelum’s voice carried the weight of ages, his piercing gaze fixed upon the woman who had once sought his affections.

“It has been many years since I last saw you. To what do I owe this… unexpected pleasure?”

Caelum didn’t greet Veydrin, and he wasn’t even sparing him a glance.

And Veydrin’s face twitched seeing ignorance on Caelum’s face.

Raayani moved with smooth grace, her silk robes whispering against the stone floor as she approached.

The blue roses in her hair seemed to pulse with their own inner light, a stark contrast to the tent’s oppressive darkness. Behind her, Prince Veydrin maintained a respectful distance, his keen eyes cataloguing every detail of their surroundings.

Raayani gave a brief glance at Veydrin to tell him to be silent.

“Caelum,” she replied, her voice carrying the sultry warmth that had made her legendary throughout the known world.

“You seem to have grown stronger… since the last time I saw you.”

There was no respect or fear in her tone, only a subtle challenge that hung in the air between them.

Caelum’s eyes narrowed slightly, a glint of amusement dancing in their depths as he regarded her with a knowing smile.

A ghost of a smile touched Caelum’s lips. “As has yours, it would seem. The Blue Rose Seraglio’s influence extends far beyond what I remember from our… previous encounters.”

The reference to their past hung in the air between them like a drawn blade.

“Indeed,” Raayani acknowledged with a graceful nod.

“But I come today not to revisit old proposals but to discuss new opportunities. Your nephew has become quite the remarkable young man.”

Caelum’s expression sharpened with interest. “Jolthar. Yes, his achievements have been… noteworthy. Though I confess curiosity as to why the Matriarch of the Blue Rose Seraglio would concern herself with my nephew.”

Caelum didn’t abandon his nephew even after his spectacle. He thought he had done him wrong and was waiting for the fateful day, he knew that Jolthar would come for him one day and that day their dispute would be settled.

Raayani laughed, the sound like silver bells in the oppressive chamber. “Your nephew? The last time I heard that you kicked the boy out. The very boy who had transformed Tekkora from a forgotten backwater into one of the most prosperous baronies in the realm.”

She knew that if she really wanted to make Jolthar her son-in-law, she needed Caelum’s permission. Because no matter what, Jolthar was still a Kaezhlar, and she thought Caelum wouldn’t sit still knowing that she had taken Jolthar to her Blue Rose.

She was aware that Caelum was not an enemy she could stand against.

She began to pace, her movements hypnotic in their calculated elegance. “But it is not merely his administrative achievements that intrigue me. His power… he is a very capable young man with devastating powers in hold. Such abilities are unprecedented in one so young.”

Caelum leaned forward, his interest clearly piqued. “And what does this have to do with your presence here?” There was a change in his tone, the shift in the atmosphere.

Veydrin was sweating; he was no warrior and certainly not at the level of Caelum, but he could tell that Raayani had struck something which made him angry, and he was suppressing it.

Even Eran looked worried.

But Raayani, she strolled as if this place was hers and talked as she liked.

Raayani’s smile deepened, revealing the calculating intelligence that had built her organization. “Jolthar is an interesting boy. So interesting, in fact, that I would have married him myself if I were younger.”

The admission hung in the chamber’s charged air, its implications rippling through the shadows that clung to the walls. Caelum’s eyes narrowed as he processed her words, understanding beginning to dawn in their depths.

And he crushed the armrest of the chair he was sitting on.

Eran jolted, and Veydrin, too, shook. The pressure had thickened in the tent, and Raayani was still herself.

“But you are not younger,” he said with a forced smile.

“No,” Raayani agreed, her voice taking on a note of pragmatic acceptance.

“I am not. However, I have a daughter—my eldest—who possesses both the beauty and the intelligence to match such an extraordinary young man. She has been trained in all the arts that make the Blue Rose legendary, yet her mind is sharp enough to appreciate true power when she encounters it.”

Caelum sat back in his chair, fingers steepled as he considered her proposal. “You want to marry your daughter to my nephew.”

“I seek to bind power to power,” Raayani corrected.

“Initially, I wanted to take him for myself. The reports of his abilities, his achievements, his potential—all of it spoke to me of a man worthy of my personal attention. But after witnessing what he has accomplished in Tekkora, after seeing the rate of his growth and the scope of his ambitions, I realized that such raw potential requires careful cultivation.”

She moved closer to Caelum’s table, her voice dropping to an intimate whisper. “My daughter could provide that cultivation. The Blue Rose techniques for enhancing natural abilities, our networks of information and influence, our resources accumulated over generations—all of it could be at Jolthar’s disposal through marriage to my daughter.”

Prince Veydrin shifted slightly, his presence a reminder of the political weight behind Raayani’s proposal.

The Blue Rose Seraglio commanded loyalty from nobles and merchants across multiple kingdoms, their influence extending far beyond their exotic reputation.

“And what would you gain from such an arrangement?” Caelum asked, though his tone suggested he already knew the answer.

“A son-in-law whose power will only continue to grow,” Raayani replied without hesitation.

“A connection to abilities that transcend normal understanding, and through that connection, a voice in shaping the future itself. Jolthar’s destiny is written in silver fire and royal blue—I would have my bloodline bound to that destiny.”

The chamber fell silent, and only the pressure radiating from Caelum was present, and it didn’t stop. His gaze sharpened, and he looked at Veydrin, which made him jerk, and then at Raayani.

“Oh, please, stop with your killing gaze. You are killing him,” Raayani said.

She could tell that Caelum wasn’t happy with what she said.

“I know Jolthar isn’t your house anymore, but I felt like saying this to you.”

Caelum stood up, and his aura exploded; the tent flapped violently, and he said, “You dare come here and spout nonsense before me?”

“You are crossing your limits, Raayani!”
