Capítulo 201: Oru’Mah

“I apologize for my people’s foolishness,” a familiar old man bowed to the group, a couple others bowing with him.

***

[A Few Minutes Earlier]

Boom!

The entire aircraft shook as the left wall was ripped open, before anyone could react, Reid and Alex had been pulled out.

Soon after, they were followed by Null, who calmly jumped out without the least bit of hesitation.

“What the hell is going on?” Commander Voss asked as he walked out of his own section only for his eyes to widen when he saw the hole in the wall.

Without replying, Elizabeth just calmly stood up and also jumped out of the aircraft.

“Damn it,” Voss cursed as he walked towards the cockpit to inform the pilots to land.

With that much racket, you’d expect Owen to have woken up, but no. He was blissfully asleep, much to Daniel and his team’s surprise.

“I’m going with them,” Lisa stood up, followed by Damien and Marcus who then jumped after her.

“….”

The remaining few were silent for a while before Dean spoke up, “did they forget we had parachutes?”

Under every seat was a compartment that held the parachutes, and these psychos decided to ignore it and just jump.

Ethan and Clara stood up, with the chutes in hand before they also followed suit and jumped.

“…”

“I guess that just leaves us,” Rhea muttered before turning to Owen, “and him, but mostly us.”

“Umm….are we also jumping?” Aria asked, hesitantly.

“Nah,” Daniel shook his head and leaned back on his seat, “they should be fine, after all, they’ve got multiple platinum rank tamers with them.”

“Right.” She nodded and also waited for the pilots to land the aircraft.

Alex’s world was spinning…. Literally.

He had spun so much that he didn’t know where up or down was. Everything was moving so fast that he felt like throwing up.

“AHHHHHHH!” He screamed as the ground got closer with every passing second.

By the looks of it, it’d only take a couple of seconds before he went ‘splat.’

Contrary to his reaction, Reid was calmly falling towards the ground, just not as quickly as Alex was.

It was more like a slow descent, the canned energy drink given to him still in his hand. With the way he descended, one would think gravity was playing favorites.

Well, because it was, thanks to his forged beast, Atlas, he could use [Mass Shift] to become almost weightless.

He looked at the descending Alex.

“Are you going to help him?” His future self asked from within his mind.

“Yes,” Reid nodded.

“When?”

“Soon,” he answered, while Alex continued falling.

Null, floating a bit above them looked at the two in interest, it was obvious enough that Reid could save the other anytime he wanted, but he wasn’t.

Now Null could save Alex from his fate of turning into a splatter on the ground, but he didn’t, after all, he had no interest in this mortal.

Reid let out a sigh as he summoned Nyx before saying, “help him out will you.”

With that, the moth turned giant and swooped towards the falling Alex.

Alex, meanwhile, had reached the stage of free-fall where his soul had left his body and was watching from above.

A massive shadow suddenly engulfed him and the feeling of falling disappeared and he felt himself floating.

The moment he got hold of his bearings, he realized that the ground was a lot closer than he thought and a second later, he’d have been a red smear across the dirt.

Though he doubted he’d die, after all, he still had ‘that’ within him and although it had been laying dormant, it’d come out whenever it felt he was in danger.

It wouldn’t risk losing its host.

Looking down, they realized that there were a couple of figures standing there.

“Are those our attackers?” Elizabeth asked as she rode on Ragnarok.

“Very likely,” Reid said as he looked down, especially at their summoned forged beasts.

With his response, he summoned Rusty who teleported him to the ground as the rest landed beside him.

Now that they were closer, they could clearly make out the figures. They were humans, but a bit different. Their skin was dark and adorned with tribal markings, so had more than others.

Most noticeably, each of them had a Forged Beast at their side, though ‘Forged Beast’ was only the closest term Reid could use.

These creatures were shaped like lions, hyenas, elephants, but the difference was the quality in soul power radiating from them.

It felt so dense that Reid could feel it even while standing this far from them.

“These Mortals seem strong,” Null said as his feet calmly touched the ground and he placed both hands on his pocket while walking a bit forward.

This caused the attackers to grip their spear tighter and take a step back.

“Stand your ground!” The one with the most markings shouted and their forged beasts let out growls, ready to attack.

“They’re not like any tamers we’ve seen before,” Clara whispered, stepping slightly behind and summoning her rifle.

“Easy,” Elizabeth called out calmly, palms raised, “we don’t want to fight.”

“You say that and yet you have one of the children Isfet’Ka,” the leader spoke in a slightly accented tone as he pointed at Null.

How they knew was obvious enough, Null, even without releasing his aura elicited a primal fear from anyone who laid eyes on him.

Well, that and the fact that it hadn’t even been a day ago that their seer saw a future for them.

He had said, “Another child of Isfet’Ka will fall from the sky in a vessel of iron.”

“Isfet’Ka?” Null repeated the name, “is that how you call my father?”

His confirmation just made the warriors tenser and they definitely wasn’t ready to put their weapons down now.

That is, until a shout caused them to lower their weapons.

“Enough!” The warriors immediately froze and started making way for the owner of the voice to pass through.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The sound of a walking cane was heard before an elderly man stepped forward, his presence alone enough to calm the warriors.

He was the same man from the message, though now he carried himself with more strain, leaning heavily on his cane.

The warriors bowed their heads the moment he appeared.

“Chief?” the lead warrior asked, lowering his spear.

The old man didn’t reply to him. Instead, he walked past them and stopped a few steps away from Null and Reid’s group.

When he spoke, his voice was calm and filled with grief only held together by his dignity as chief.

“I apologize for my people’s foolishness,” he said as he slowly bowed, the others behind him quickly following suit, “welcome to Oru’Mah.”
