The Scrap Tamer - Chapter 195
Chapter 195: Negation Meets Void [Final]
BOOM
The two were now moving so fast that all those below Platinum rank couldn’t hope to keep up.
Even Owen and Elizabeth, the two platinum ranks were struggling to track their movements.
“How did he get this strong in just a few months?” Elizabeth muttered, completely unable to comprehend how Reid who had only been a silver rank just a few months back was now going toe to toe with a being that she couldn’t even put a scratch on.
Well, Reid wouldn’t exactly call it toe to toe, after all, after he cut Null’s arm off and he regrew it, the battle had gotten a lot harder.
He disappeared again using void only to clash in the center with him again.
Reid had long abandoned the idea of using energy attacks since they were useless against a being that could completely nullify his attacks.
BOOOOOM—!
The next collision created more craters through the arena floor, vaporizing everything within several meters of the impact zone.
The barrier was on the verge of giving up, the cracks on its surface worse now and the pressure from within started escaping and affecting Lisa, Damien, Clara and Ethan.
“That’s enough, both of you!” Elizabeth shouted, but her voice was drowned by their constant clashes.
Both were so absorbed in the fight that everything else seemed to fade around…which wasn’t far from the truth.
Due to two energies that they produced, anything they come in contact immediately disappeared.
“You really are entertaining mortal,” Null said with a smile, “I haven’t had this much fun since my battle with my brother, Ruin.”
Reid said nothing in response as he swung his sword again, meeting Null’s fist. The attacks sent sparks flying but did not real damage…well to Null anyway.
Reid, on the other hand, was quickly running out of time in his monarch form, a fact which Evo reminded him of.
[You’ll need to end this quickly, Reid,] Evo’s voice reminded. [You’ve got two minutes before you run out of soul power, and transform back .]
‘Is that so?’ he mentally responded, ‘then let’s end this with a bang, shall we?’
Creating distance between them, Null looked at him in curiosity, waiting to see what else this mortal could pull.
And Reid didn’t fail to surprise him.
Focusing on his void core, he kept on pressing until he felt the void energy within start moving.
The movement was crude since, unlike his soul power, the movement of his void energy wasn’t intuitive.
But for now, he didn’t need it to be. Reid just needed to draw as much as he could and that was exactly what he did.
[Void Energy: 20/200]
[Reid, drawing that much all at once is dangerous, ] Evo warned.
‘I know,’ He responded as he felt the energy flowing through him.
With the flow came new strength he had never felt before in any of his monarch form. He gripped his sword tighter, the energy flowing through it in excess, causing it to glow brighter.
Even the air around him distorted in response to his new strength.
“How interesting.” Null muttered as he felt the sudden increase in power coming from the mortal.
This mortal might be even more interesting than the mortal who was considered a thorn in his father’s path.
Reid, on the other hand, could finally feel it. It was minute and felt as if it didn’t even exist but he had clearly felt it.
Null’s strength, kept hidden completely by his ability.
It was vast…to say the least.
It was like standing at the foot of a mountain and trying to see the very top… which was a strength Reid hadn’t expected from only a single shard.
But did that deter him?
Not in the the least bit. It had long been established that he was a battle maniac and he always got excited when a win was nowhere in sight.
His aura flared and before anyone else could react, he had disappeared from where his stood, the space in that location folding.
He soon reappeared right in front of Null, his sword already swinging downwards. The arena floor that had been struggling to hold on, finally gave up before the attack even landed.
Debris raised from the floor and into the air, just moments before the sword made contact with its target.
The moment that happened, a shockwave immediately spread outward, causing the entire arena to tremble.
The barrier that kept the effects of the battle inside, finally completely shattered, leaving Reid’s team to deal with the full extent of the pressure that crashed into them, making even breathing a struggle.
“Those idiots,” Elizabeth muttered, regretting that she had allowed this fight to happen.
If Anything happened to Reid, then her grandpa would definitely blame her. But it was too late now, she could only just hope that he was fine.
The attack kicked up dust that covered the entire arena, making it harder to see exactly what was going on within.
A deafening silence followed, the sound of the fight was no more as all they could hear was the fading echo of the last clash, nothing else.
When the dust finally cleared, Reid was kneeling in the center of a massive crater. His armor was shattered, his right arm completely gone, his excess void energy leaking from his wounds like black mist.
Null stood across from him, untouched—though a faint scorch mark marred his shoulder.
“That was dangerous,” Null admitted, almost amused. “You nearly cut through my barrier.”
Reid forced himself to his feet, his vision blurring. “Almost?” he breathed, coughing up blood.
Null smiled faintly. “Almost.”
With that, he disappeared and reappeared in front of the kneeling Reid before saying, “now sleep,” flicking his forehead.
Reid’s world immediately went white.
The next instant, he was airborne, crashing into the far wall so hard the reinforced metal dented.
His Monarch form disappeared instantly as he and Nyx were separated, the forged beast instantly sent to the lab to recover.
Elizabeth was already moving before he hit the ground, catching his limp body mid-fall.
“That’s enough!” she snapped, glaring at Null. “He can’t continue!”
He lowered his hand and nodded. “Indeed. He’s had enough for today.” His gaze lingered on Reid, it almost seemed like a fond. “You’re interesting, mortal…no, Reid.”
