Chapter 960: Chapter 960 Passed Out
By all rights, Hera was his fiancée; he had every reason to demand exclusivity. And yet, he didn’t. Instead, he found himself trying, however awkwardly, to grasp their arrangement, to make sense of it, so that he might eventually find a place within it.
After a long moment of silence, Leo finally averted his eyes, and the group gradually settled down after taking turns showering. Since Leo was still covered in injuries and not yet allowed to touch water, Zhane carefully wiped his body with warm cloths instead.
They had grown so used to looking after each other that, rather than calling a nurse or caregiver, Zhane tended to Leo the same way they had once cared for Rafael during his hospitalization.
Watching quietly as she waited for her own turn, Hera couldn’t help but smile to herself. In her mind, she whistled in amazement at how harmonious her lovers had become.
They still bickered and pretended to quarrel—especially Dave—but when it truly mattered, each of them stepped forward to support one another. They looked less like love rivals and more like brothers forged through life-and-death battles.
Even the emperor’s harem was infamous for deadly schemes and strife, yet here she was, surrounded by a united harem that felt rare and precious. Hera thought, half in awe and half in jest, that she must have saved the earth in her past life to be blessed with so many treasures by her side.
Hera nodded absently as Luke guided her down, crouching to help wipe her body. “What’s going through that head of yours, hmm? Slowly, lift your arm,” Luke murmured, carefully unbuttoning her clothes.
He had been trying to tease and seduce her for a while now, but her thoughts kept drifting elsewhere, making it impossible for him to continue. With a soft chuckle of defeat, he set aside his mischief and simply helped her undress.
Yet even then, Hera didn’t notice what he was doing, still lost in her own thoughts, nodding absentmindedly while he tended to her.
“I was just thinking… how lucky I am,” Hera finally answered Luke’s earlier question, a gentle smile blooming on her lips. She truly felt blessed, grateful that she was given a chance to change her fate and for the men who now surrounded her.
Anyone who saw her life would surely burn with envy; she had love, wealth, and power all within her grasp. But beneath that sweetness was the bitter truth: her life could be forfeited at any moment if she ever lowered her guard. Like an emperor seated on a throne, one misstep, one moment of carelessness, and she could be struck down by those closest to her.
That unguarded, almost foolish smile of hers stirred something fierce in Luke. Desire burned hotter, especially now that he had already slipped off Hera’s upper clothes, leaving only the thin fabric of her bra between his hands and her skin.
The sight alone was enough to push his restraint to the edge. Unable to hold back, he leaned in, cupping the back of her head before claiming her lips in a hungry, passionate kiss.
“Hmmm…” Hera let out a startled sound, caught off guard by his sudden intensity. But the moment Luke’s tongue slipped past her lips, tangling possessively with her own, her resistance faltered.
Heat pooled in her stomach, a restless want unfurling inside her. And yet, somewhere in the haze, she remembered. The others were still nearby.
“Be good… just kissing,” Luke coaxed softly, pulling back only far enough to stop Hera from retreating before capturing her lips again. He lowered himself to his knees in front of her wheelchair, leaning in with a devotion that made her pulse race.
The room grew hushed, the air thick with the sound of their lips meeting, their breaths mingling in ragged gasps. For long, unbroken moments—three minutes that felt like eternity—the world seemed to consist of nothing but Luke’s warmth and the dizzying pull of his kiss.
It wasn’t until Hera, dazed and flushed, noticed the unnatural silence around them that she pushed weakly against his chest. When her eyes fluttered open, she froze. Leo, Zhane, and Rafael had all stopped what they were doing, each one staring at them in stunned silence.
Hera’s cheeks flamed instantly, a rush of embarrassment burning hotter than the kiss itself.
‘Ah! This is all Luke’s fault; he’s been seducing me since earlier! How am I supposed to keep my hands off such a handsome man? And now, while I’m still injured, I can’t even control myself… They’ll probably think I’m some shameless girl who can’t stop even when she’s hurt!’ Hera’s thoughts spiraled as she darted shy, guilty glances around the room.
Luke, seeing how flustered Hera looked with her lips still swollen, couldn’t help but chuckle. “What are you embarrassed about?” he teased, brushing a light kiss against her cheek, clearly enjoying her reaction.
Leo, still lost in the haze of his amnesia, was stunned into silence.
‘Are you always this open with everyone?’ He thought, his chest tightening with mixed emotions.
His gaze shifted toward Zhane and Rafael, though desire flickered in their eyes too; they were clearly restraining themselves. They knew Hera was still badly injured, and none of them wanted to push her body beyond what it could handle.
To Leo, it felt like he was only catching a glimpse of something much deeper—just the tip of the iceberg—and the realization made his heart skip a beat before his eyes drifted back to Hera again.
Luke kept teasing her, his gaze brimming with adoration and love. His body burned with the urge to have her, yet he restrained himself, limiting his touches to gentle caresses and kisses, never crossing the line.
Leo fell silent again, lost in his own thoughts.
Hera, meanwhile, didn’t know what to feel. With Leo there, supposedly burdened by amnesia, she worried about the impression she might be leaving on him. What if he thought she was an insatiable woman? The thought made her want to cry, though no tears came.
Yet what Hera failed to notice was how accustomed she had already become to this unusual arrangement. In truth, all of them had. None of them could even remember when it began; it had simply grown into something natural, as if it had always been that way.
After that awkward moment, the room finally settled into silence as everyone drifted off to sleep. Luke lay on Hera’s left side, Zhane on her right, while Rafael slept beside Luke. Leo—who was supposed to be the patient—stirred awake in the middle of the night.
The only light came from the small wall lamp in the kitchenette near the bathroom, dim and soft, placed there so that if Leo or Hera needed to use the toilet, someone could escort them without risk of stumbling and worsening their injuries.
Turning onto his side, Leo’s eyes fell on the king-size bed beside his own. It sat slightly lower, giving him a clear view of the four sleeping figures. They lay close together, breathing evenly, as though nothing in the world could disturb their peace.
The sight struck him; was he like that, too, before his memories faded?
A sharp buzz rang through his head, followed by a sudden spike of pain that made him clutch his temple.
“Ugh…” Leo’s muffled groan slipped out, faint and restrained as he fought not to wake anyone. His body trembled, cold sweat soaking his skin, while the pain gnawed at him, sharp and relentless, like a knife slowly driving into his skull.
Flashes of images erupted in his mind, fragmented and disjointed, blurring together and were too quick to grasp. Were these the memories he had lost? He couldn’t tell. There were too many, rushing all at once, each one striking harder than the last.
The pain became unbearable. His vision dimmed, his strength gave out, and he collapsed back into unconsciousness.
When morning came, Leo was still asleep, but his face was unnaturally pale. Zhane, who was the first to notice, immediately felt alarm bells ringing. He hurried over, checking Leo’s pulse and vitals with practiced hands before pulling out his stethoscope.
The sight of him working so seriously jolted Hera out of her groggy state. She blinked awake just in time to see Zhane shining a small light into Leo’s eyes.
Once finished, Zhane’s expression darkened, and without a word, he rushed toward the door.
“Zhane? What’s wrong?” Hera’s hoarse morning voice stopped him in his tracks.
He turned back, lips pressed tightly together. “We need to run a comprehensive test on Leo again. Something happened last night.” His tone was clipped but heavy with worry.
Guilt flickered across his face. He blamed himself for sleeping too soundly, for not noticing sooner. Leo’s life wasn’t in immediate danger, but from the signs, Zhane could tell the man had endured terrible pain, so much that he had passed out from it.
That alone was alarming. If the cause was neurological, if a nerve had been compressed or damaged, it could be life-threatening.
