Capítulo 1033: Chapter 1033 Who’s The Monster
For her to uncover a secret even his wife didn’t know, in such a short time, meant she had connections far-reaching and powerful. It was as if a towering monster stood before him, and he was already on the chopping block, awaiting his inevitable downfall.
President Lincoln staggered back, feeling as though the ground beneath him was crumbling, leaving him on the edge of an abyss. Fear crawled slowly up his legs, tightening around his knees until they nearly buckled. Just imagining what would happen if his wife found out made his entire body tremble.
Christy wasn’t any better. Panic had begun to set in, and she couldn’t even understand how things had escalated this far. They had only fought over a parking slot. So, how could something so trivial turn into this?
She regretted everything.
She regretted stepping out today, regretted chasing after the handsome Logan in hopes of inviting him to be her companion at school, and imagining the boost it could give to her pride and vanity.
She had assumed that, because Logan was still just a budding singer, she could use money to intimidate him, to control him, and turn him into her hidden boy toy without her sugar daddy ever knowing.
After all, President Lincoln was old; his stamina was already lacking, unable to satisfy her growing sexual desires. She needed someone young, someone with energy, someone who could give her what her sugar daddy couldn’t… all while keeping it a secret.
But who could have predicted that everything would spiral so wildly out of control?
Even without knowing Hera’s true identity, both Christy and President Lincoln were already terrified of her. The fear seeped into their bones, tightening their chests until their breathing grew heavy and uneven.
“Don’t look at me like I’m a monster,” Hera said calmly. “It’s not as if either of you were discreet with your relationship.”
She tilted her head slightly, her tone turning cold. “The only reason your wife hasn’t discovered your affair is because she’s too busy supporting your career and taking care of your children.”
“You call her a fierce tigress, but that’s what she has to be. With a husband who’s indifferent and too busy indulging in pleasures outside their home, she’s effectively a single mother raising three children on her own, while running the household alone, while you stroll in only when it suits you… after enjoying your luxuries and your mistress.”
Hera clicked her tongue softly. “Tsk tsk… truly eye-opening.”
She couldn’t help but feel pity for the wife. Being a mother was never easy, and doing it all alone was even harder. It wasn’t surprising that she had become fierce; it was the only way she knew how to protect her children and herself when she had no one else to rely on.
And in the end, it all pointed back to one truth: the wife’s ‘masculine’ strength was forced into existence by her husband’s incompetence.
A woman’s femininity can only truly bloom when her partner steps into his role as a masculine man, which includes protecting, providing, and creating a sense of safety for his woman and his family.
A woman submits only when she feels she can submit, when the man proves he is someone worthy of her trust. If she cannot feel that security, she will not soften, she will not act feminine, nor will she easily reveal her vulnerabilities.
And that was because the man in her life wasn’t just incompetent, he failed to project the masculine energy that naturally draws out a woman’s femininity. When a woman is forced to harden herself, it means the man has failed.
It means he isn’t acting like a man at all, but like a boy still relying on others who are carefree, irresponsible, and ignorant of the weight of his duties in a woman’s life.
President Lincoln was no exception. Yes, he came from a wealthy family, but his elevated status came from a marriage of convenience, one arranged to strengthen both families. In reality, it was his wife’s family who supported him, all for the sake of their daughter and grandchildren. They wanted her and her children to have the best, and he merely benefited from their influence.
To think he used that very power and privilege to keep a mistress… it was no wonder he was terrified of his wife discovering his infidelity.
And beyond all that, his wife wasn’t just any woman; she was a natural-born manager, groomed from childhood to become an heiress capable of running her family’s empire.
But instead of taking center stage, she stepped back and handed the spotlight to her husband. She even entrusted him with managing several assets that originally belonged to her maternal family.
In truth, though the public had no idea, most of President Lincoln’s wealth came from his wife. His rise, his position, his so-called success… all of it was built on her support. Yet years of sitting in that lofty presidential chair made him forget his own standing.
And yes, Mrs. Lincoln’s life sounded like something straight out of a novel, but the saddest part was her husband himself. He wasn’t even handsome. The irony was almost painful: despite his unfortunate looks, he still had the audacity to cheat.
Mrs. Lincoln had only agreed to marry him because she feared being betrayed by a handsome man. She was pretty in her own right, but past experiences had left her traumatized, so she chose someone she believed no woman would bother to chase.
But reality was cruel, because money makes the world go round, and some women couldn’t care less about looks as long as there was wealth to be gained.
If only she had known, she would’ve chosen one of the other suitors, those with better backgrounds, better character, and better faces.
“D-Don’t spout nonsense!” President Lincoln roared, panic bleeding through his voice. His eyes darted around the place, desperately searching for an escape route, but Hera’s bodyguards had already sealed every exit. There was nowhere left for him to run.
With the information she gathered, Hera had already instructed Gerald to forward the entire file to Mrs. Lincoln. What happened next would be entirely up to her, whether she stayed in that marriage or finally broke free.
And hopefully, she would reclaim every single thing her husband had spent on his mistress, considering it all came from their joint assets.
Now that Hera had set the stage for President Lincoln’s downfall, all she needed to do was sit back and watch. After all, wasn’t he the same man who threatened her best friend and Zen, saying he would blacklist them from the industry over a petty parking lot argument?
Well, now it was his turn to feel what it meant to be cornered. Maybe then he’d finally understand how destructive his careless actions were, those thoughtless decisions he made without even a second’s hesitation.
Like the elders often say: never do unto others what you wouldn’t want done to you.
This was a lesson Hera knew President Lincoln would never forget. In fact, she doubted he would ever recover from it. But he had no one to blame but himself.
Originally, Hera only intended to give him a light warning, maybe shake his company a little, give him a taste of consequences. But after Gerald dug deeper, the truth that surfaced was far uglier than she expected.
He and his mistress had been acting like self-appointed royalty, abusing their power without restraint. Christy, young and arrogant, wielded President Lincoln’s status like a weapon.
Whenever someone displeased her, she lashed out cruelly. A simple disagreement? She’d send thugs to beat, disfigure, or even violate another woman.
If she felt jealous of someone’s beauty or talent, she’d destroy them as if it were some sick game.
One case stood out among the rest: a college student from an impoverished family, a brilliant girl with an exceptional academic record who refused to do Christy’s projects and assignments. Christy made her suffer relentlessly, pushing her to the brink until the girl fell into utter despair, and in the end, the girl ended her own life.
Her parents, already fragile — their daughter being their only child born after a difficult labor — were shattered beyond repair. Without answers, without justice, and without the daughter who was their whole world, they too passed away soon after… a family full of love and dreams erased in silence.
Just thinking about it made Hera’s blood run cold, her anger boiling in her chest.
Who did Christy think she was? She treated human life like a toy, ruining people as if it were entertainment. She never once showed remorse; on the contrary, she even laughed at the parents who died of heartbreak after losing their daughter.
Witnesses had even heard her mocking them, calling them pathetic, laughing at their grief as if it were some twisted joke.
And what did President Lincoln do? Nothing. Worse, he indulged her. He used his influence to shield her, to silence anyone who dared to speak up or pursue justice for the innocent.
