Chapter 1030: Chapter 1030 Hera To The Rescue 4

That was why, when Hera and the others arrived at the site, they didn’t step in immediately. They stayed back for a moment, listening to get a grasp of the situation. But now, after hearing Zen’s continuous barrage of insults, each one hitting the other party like a solid brick while they failed miserably to fight back, Hera couldn’t help but laugh.

Zen was truly something. He had even managed to bring Alice, the former female lead, to the verge of tears once by bluntly calling out her little tricks and schemes right to her face. No wonder Hera was so amused now.

Seeing Zhane pushing Hera’s wheelchair, with Rafael walking just behind them, and Dr. Zigheart guiding Cherry’s wheelchair while a group of bodyguards formed a protective wall around them, the onlookers instinctively stepped back.

The newcomers exuded an undeniable presence, and the crowd instinctively gave way, making it easier for Zhane to bring Hera closer.

When Athena and Zen spotted their savior, Hera, their eyes immediately lit up. Before Athena could coo coquettishly at Hera, Zen beat her to it, pointing straight away.

“Cousin! It’s so great you’re here! Look, this old man was bullying me and my girlfriend! You have to stand up for us!” he said indignantly.

Hearing him, Hera felt her head buzz for a moment, caught between amusement and disbelief.

“Girlfriend?” Hera repeated, glancing at Zen and then catching Athena’s evasive eyes. It then clicked that Athena and Zen had actually gotten together, and apparently, Athena’s hundred-and-one methods of seducing him had worked. Hera couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought.

But then, she noticed something else. Zhane, Rafael, and even Athena were all staring at Zen with expressions so complicated it was as if he’d sprouted another head. Zen’s eyes widened in realization that he’d just slipped up, and he clamped a hand over his mouth in panic.

“Cousin?” Hera repeated, looking up at Zen, who clearly looked guilty. She pushed the thought aside; there would be time to discuss it later. Right now, what mattered was standing up for Athena and Zen. She had already grasped the situation and heard the murmurs of the crowd as they arrived.

Someone was trying to blacklist her people? Did they think they were more powerful than the Avery family? Especially now that she had revealed her identity to her lovers, their families were effectively allied with hers. Her family’s power had just skyrocketed, and any enemy of hers was now an enemy of her lovers’ families as well.

Unfortunately, the man who had been talking big in front of Athena and Zen earlier didn’t realize he was like an egg smashing itself against a boulder. Hera looked up at the pot-bellied man and at Christy, who had nestled back into his arms.

She sneaked a glance at Zhane and Rafael. Clearly, the moment Christy spotted a man of power, she was drawn to them. Now she was acting like a cat: delicate, pitiful, trying to catch their attention.

But neither Zhane nor Rafael even glanced her way. Their eyes were fixed on Hera, studying her as if trying to solve a puzzle they couldn’t piece together.

Hera, however, wasn’t paying them any mind. Her anger simmered because someone had actually tried to lure Athena into becoming a mistress? Athena, of all people? The thought left her with a mix of disbelief and fury.

First, she knew it would never happen. Athena was not the type to let herself fall for a man and sacrifice her dignity or pride to become a mistress. With the comfortable life she had now, where she could have almost anything she wanted, Athena wouldn’t be easily swayed by anyone, let alone fall head over heels for a man.

Now that Athena was already with Zen, and they had gone as far as being intimate, Hera thought it was even more impossible that Athena would look at someone else, especially someone like the pot-bellied man.

Hera put it delicately, calling him “not particularly attractive,” unlike Zen, who had bluntly dubbed him “frog-face,” which was direct and crude, but not inaccurate. After all, Athena was someone who cared about appearances; she would never be interested in a plain or unattractive man. And as the little princess of the Lowery and Jackson families, Athena had endless options at her disposal.

At the same time, Hera didn’t know the background of the pot-bellied man, nor why he even had the audacity to try to blacklist Zen, acting as if he held the sky in his hand. If she didn’t step in, Athena and Zen could be in real trouble, especially with Athena’s family business. Though wealthy, Athena didn’t come from as prominent a family as Hera’s, and without understanding her enemy, she could easily be blindsided later.

Hera chose not to speak just yet. Instead, she reached for her phone and sent a message to Gerald.

First, she hacked into the surveillance cameras of the parking lot using her phone. She took a screenshot of the pot-bellied man, circled him in yellow, and sent it to Gerald before typing out a message.

[Hera: Gerald, I have a situation here. Can you please check this man’s identity and background? The more thorough, the better. Also, pay close attention to his relationships and any secrets. I need this ASAP. Thank you.]

[Gerald: On it, Young Miss. Just give me five minutes, and I’ll send the compiled information.]

After making sure she’d have what she needed in five minutes, Hera felt her heavy heart lighten slightly. She looked up again, only to meet the pot-bellied man’s eyes, which sparkled as if he had just spotted a treasure.

He didn’t even try to hide his covetous gaze from the public, openly staring at Hera while the young woman in his arms kept glancing at Hera’s men.

Hera’s brows furrowed as she thought. ‘Birds of a feather, huh? They’re already clinging to each other and yet still eyeing someone else?’

Then she heard the young woman in the man’s arms call him “Daddy,” and Hera nearly choked on her own saliva. The girl, Christy, looked stunning, like a Barbie come to life, while the pot-bellied man… well, Hera decided not to comment further.

She couldn’t help thinking, much like Athena had, that Christy’s mother must have been a beauty queen, and that Christy had inherited her features, not her father’s.

Still, Hera bristled at the way Christy was looking at Zhane and Rafael, so openly seductive, with not a thought for Hera at all. That, she did not like.

“Oho?!” the pot-bellied man exclaimed, turning to Zen. “A man like you, who only knows how to rely on women, even calls in your cousin for backup? Tell me, do you plan to offer your cousin to appease me instead? I wouldn’t mind…”

He laughed heartily, his belly wobbling like jelly, as if he could already imagine Hera acting coquettishly toward him. But Hera’s expression remained perfectly calm, cold as a still lake, giving nothing away. No one could tell what she was thinking.

Zen bristled at the comment, anger surging through his veins. Not only him, but even Zhane and Rafael, who had been deep in thought, suddenly looked up and fixed the pot-bellied man with piercing glares.

The man probably didn’t even notice them. At first, his attention had been completely captured by Hera’s ethereal beauty, everything else around her blurring in his eyes.

As usual, he assumed that any woman would crumble under the weight of wealth and the promise of having everything she desired, so long as she obeyed a man with the means to indulge her. In his mind, Hera would be no different. He let his imagination run wild, convinced she would be easy to conquer.

Because of that disgusting comment, it wasn’t just Hera, Zhane, and Rafael also quietly decided that this man needed to be taught a lesson, coming from a prominent family or not. But before any of them could speak, Zen beat them to it, lashing out like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

“You? Deserve her?” Zen scoffed coldly. “You probably can’t even afford a mirror to see what you look like, yet you actually think you have a chance with my cousin? What a joke. Your delusions must be severe. Why don’t you check yourself into a mental hospital? Maybe they can fix whatever’s wrong with you. Because if you’re already ugly and mentally unstable, then you really won’t have any place left in society, will you?”

Zen’s words were like a public slap, sharp, ruthless, and delivered without mercy. Everyone who heard him felt the sting as if they were the ones being burned. Some even felt a trace of pity for the pot‑bellied man.

His face turned beet red, trembling with humiliation and rage. He’d not only been insulted, called ugly, and accused of being mentally unstable, but all of it had happened right in front of Hera and several members of wealthy families. The shame was unbearable, and in that moment, he felt he wouldn’t be satisfied unless he crushed Zen into pulp and fed him to the fish in the ocean.
