Capítulo 1028: Chapter 1028 Hera To The Rescue 2

She had been close enough to witness everything from the start. “Someone slapped someone first, and instead of pointing fingers and making this bigger than it needs to be, why don’t we all calm down and resolve it properly? We’re in an open area, at a major concert venue. I doubt you’d want this to spread to the public and create misunderstandings, would you?”

She didn’t name-drop anyone who had started the fight, but with so many perceptive people around, she didn’t need to. The very fact that she was standing up to confront the pot-bellied man already spoke volumes.

Of course, if he had a pea-sized brain, he might still fail to grasp her point and insist on defending the arrogant girl regardless.

The heiress wasn’t just defending Athena, though; she was also protecting the atmosphere of Logan’s concert. As a righteous young woman who had come here excitedly, she had no intention of letting an unnecessary scandal ruin the mood or drag Logan into avoidable trouble.

Although Logan was a new singer-songwriter, his aloof, unattainable charm and the aura of a genius with a tragic past had already captured the hearts of countless young girls and even some devoted “mommy fans” who wanted to support him, hoping he would continue composing soul-stirring songs.

His music had a way of enchanting people, soothing their hearts, and many heiresses had been won over, spending lavishly to show their admiration.

But they also knew that if a scandal like this escalated, it could harm Logan’s reputation. Rivals eager to see his rise cut short might seize the opportunity to fan the flames and clip his wings, preventing him from reaching new heights.

While others might not fully grasp the stakes, the heiresses, well-versed in the workings of power and influence, understood the potential consequences. That was why this young, righteous heiress stepped in to contain the trouble before it could spiral out of control.

Even without spelling everything out, the perceptive onlookers immediately caught her meaning. The newcomer, the pot-bellied man, also understood her subtle warning: if this situation escalated, no one would leave unscathed, not even him.

But because he was dealing with a young woman he dismissed as still green behind the ears, he didn’t take her seriously. All he saw was his own power and status, convinced he stood far above this woman who dared speak on Athena’s behalf.

To him, that already made her an enemy.

He didn’t bother thinking about her warning either. In his mind, if money could make the world go round, then it could just as easily twist the entertainment news to serve his version of the truth. He believed he could buy the media, bury the story, and walk away unscathed.

After all, the pot‑bellied man believed that while he wasn’t at the top of the pecking order, his position wasn’t low either. As long as someone of Dave or Luke’s caliber didn’t show up, or the Hendrix or Avery families didn’t intervene, he was confident no one here could outmaneuver him.

And since he was already determined to teach Athena a lesson, the young heiress who dared stand in his way was now added to that list as well.

“Ha! So now you’re ganging up on a young, delicate girl? Fine! Let’s see how far that gets you. I’ll make sure you pay for this. And if you’re so proud of your family backing, then tell your father to call me, I’d love to discuss how he failed to raise you properly!”

He kept rambling self‑righteously, acting as though he was doing everyone a favor by stepping in, as if even their fathers would gladly kneel just to curry favor with him. His words made several people from wealthy families shift uncomfortably, humiliation prickling beneath their skin.

Yes, they network, yes, they sometimes flatter others to build connections, but to hear it thrown so crudely in their faces was like having their pride dragged across the asphalt. It wasn’t respect; it was an insult.

Unfortunately, the moment the pot‑bellied man stepped forward to protect the arrogant girl, many of the high‑tier actresses and young heiresses recognized him. Some had seen him at prestigious banquets attended only by the country’s most influential business tycoons.

They remembered him mingling comfortably among the elites, and they knew he indeed had enough standing to make their fathers, or even their bosses, bend their knees to please him.

The young heiress knew she had just offended the pot‑bellied man, and now she could feel his hostility turning toward her, dragging not only her but even her family into his crosshairs.

Her eyes reddened instantly. All she wanted was to stop this from escalating; it had only been a minor catfight. But people like him, those who wielded power carelessly and cruelly, were the ones who thrived. Meanwhile, good people like her were the ones who ended up paying the price for stepping in at the wrong moment, letting kindness make them vulnerable.

She sniffled softly, suddenly tongue‑tied, unable to think of anything else to say. Her courage had brought her this far, but now fear squeezed her words back down her throat.

After all, she suddenly remembered, after being reminded, that her father did indeed have business dealings with this man. But she simply couldn’t stand the arrogant girl throwing her weight around, and that’s why she had spoken up earlier.

She had hoped the pot‑bellied man would be like what he portrayed himself in the media and among other businessmen: reasonable, able to weigh pros and cons. That confidence had fueled her words, trusting he could recognize right from wrong.

Moreover, she had subtly hinted that the girl he was defending was in the wrong, which alone was already her showing him respect. She was hoping he would take the cue and end the farce then and there, avoiding problems for everyone.

After all, Athena had parked here, meaning she wasn’t some ordinary middle‑class girl; she was even driving a Bugatti Chiron, worth millions, indicating she came from a well‑established family.

By stepping in, she had tried to help both parties resolve the situation, ensuring no one would be affected and that Logan’s concert could continue smoothly. To her, it already seemed like a win‑win solution.

But who would have thought that the pot‑bellied man was just as unreasonable as the arrogant girl, Christy? The fact that he openly used his power to threaten her only proved that he wasn’t the respectable businessman he portrayed himself to be.

And worse, she had no real means to fight back, because just as he said, it would be her father who ended up suffering the consequences.

The young heiress sniffled again, her lips trembling as she stood on the verge of breaking down. Seeing her head droop so low, the pot‑bellied man’s eyes gleamed with calculation.

“Alright,” he said, tone shifting into something oily and insincere, “how about this, I’ll let this go. But why don’t we talk it out in private and settle things… discreetly?”

His gaze slid over Athena and the young heiress, completely dismissing Zen as if he were just a decorative bystander. In his eyes, Zen was nothing more than a pretty face, certainly not someone capable of causing him any trouble.
