Capítulo 1027: Chapter 1027 Hera To The Rescue
Athena couldn’t hear the response from the other end, but the girl’s expression quickly shifted into a venomous smile, her gaze locking on Athena as if to silently say, ‘Just you wait.’
And since the girl had already called for backup, why wouldn’t Athena call hers? Without hesitation, Athena pulled out her phone and dialed Hera’s number. After all, Hera was her strongest support now; there was no reason for her not to use that advantage.
“Hello? Where are you? The others and I are at the VVIP entrance. I’ll send you the mini-map so you can head straight here when you arrive.” Hera’s voice was gentle and unhurried, and somehow that calmness made the sting of Athena’s earlier humiliation surge back up.
The moment she heard her best friend’s voice, all of Athena’s bravado, her hedgehog-like spikes she’d put up in front of the arrogant girl, crumbled instantly. Her eyes reddened, and before she could stop herself, she was crying.
Everyone watching stared at her in disbelief, as if they were witnessing a live face-changing opera; Athena’s expression was shifting faster than they could process what she was feeling or thinking.
“Babe… buhuhu… you have to come pick me up. Someone’s bullying me. She even said she’d get me kicked out of here and blacklist me… She’s so vile…”
Athena didn’t care how childish she sounded as she tattled to Hera, tears spilling freely. Her dramatic sobbing left the arrogant girl completely speechless, so stunned, in fact, that she momentarily forgot to cry to her daddy for backup.
Hera listened quietly to Athena’s trembling voice, her lips pressing into a thin line. She didn’t offer comfort; she only said one thing, her tone low and controlled.
“Wait for me.”
Then the call ended.
Athena blinked at her phone, stunned. Her crying stopped mid-sob and turned into soft hiccups as she stared at the blank screen.
‘Did the signal drop? Did Hera get cut off?’
But no, she distinctly heard that commanding, slightly cold edge in Hera’s voice before the call ended.
And with that, Athena realized Hera was angry.
As her impulsiveness slowly faded, a sliver of guilt crept in. Maybe… maybe she overdid it? But the moment she remembered the sharp sting on her cheek, the humiliation, and that arrogant girl slapping her over a stupid parking spot, the grievance surged again.
It wasn’t even the last available slot in the VVIP area, yet the girl got handsy as if she owned the place. Athena’s sarcasm hardly deserved a slap.
‘Who wouldn’t snap at someone that arrogant?’
Athena thought all this as she stared at the stunned, arrogant girl in front of her. The girl still had her phone pressed to her ear, loudly complaining to her daddy, her backer, trying to intimidate Athena.
But then Athena had simply called her own backer and even burst into tears as if she were the one being viciously bullied.
Even the arrogant girl had to admit, Athena moved fast. Too fast. Her reactions were sharp, decisive, and caught her completely off guard.
After a moment, the girl snapped out of her daze and doubled down on her act for her ‘Daddy’, whining dramatically as she told him to come to the venue. Since he was nearby on business, she knew he could arrive quickly. In her mind, calling him over was far more effective than name-dropping.
After all, this was the VVIP parking area. There were plenty of high-tier actresses and heiresses passing through. If she showed everyone who her daddy was, the entire place would immediately recognize her backing. They would have no choice but to show her deference. Not just Athena, everyone.
With that thought, she felt smug and triumphant, convinced she had already won this round… while Athena stood there staring blankly at her phone.
Seeing Athena staring blankly at her phone, Zen gently patted her back in quiet support. He wanted nothing more than to confront the arrogant girl who had slapped his girlfriend, but he couldn’t. If he acted rashly, raised his voice, embarrassed her, or so much as touched her, it would instantly look like he was the one bullying her.
With so many high-profile actresses and heiresses in the area, and him being a celebrity himself, he knew exactly how badly that would turn out. The moment anything leaked online, he would be dragged mercilessly, and his reputation would plummet.
And as a celebrity, he had to be even more careful. It wasn’t unusual for someone to secretly record situations like this, and his fear wasn’t unfounded; one leaked clip was all it would take for everything to blow up online. If that happened, the whole situation would spiral into chaos fast.
But that wasn’t what he feared most.
What terrified him was Athena.
If he retaliated and the arrogant girl played the victim, something she looked more than capable of doing, netizens would attack Athena, too. She would be called names, accused of riding on his fame, painted as the “jealous girlfriend” or “clingy nobody.”
Her reputation could be destroyed before it even began. The thought made Zen’s stomach twist.
So he held back, for both their sakes, while trying to think of the safest way to deal with the situation.
Then Athena called Hera.
At that thought, Zen’s lips curved into a small doting smile, and his eyes softened with relief. He had seen how Hera handled things before, how calm, ruthless, and efficient she could be. If Hera was going to step in, then neither he nor Athena needed to worry about what came next.
So he stopped overthinking.
And waited.
But the first one to arrive at the scene wasn’t Hera, it was the arrogant girl’s “Daddy,” her so-called backer.
“Christy, honey, what’s wrong?”
A pot-bellied man in his fifties came hurrying over, a skinny, bespectacled assistant scrambling after him. The moment Christy saw him, her haughty expression dissolved instantly into a pitiful whimper. She threw herself into his arms, crying like a fragile little rabbit seeking protection from the big, bad predators around her.
Seeing his precious girl like that, the pot-bellied man turned sharply and glared at Zen and Athena.
“Was it you who bullied my baby?” he demanded, his voice a low, reprimanding growl, like a boss scolding an employee for failing to meet the monthly sales quota.
Hearing his accusatory tone, Athena and Zen didn’t even bother to answer, but the staff who had stepped in as the middleman, along with the bystanders who had witnessed everything, were the ones who immediately bristled.
To them, it felt like the classic case of the real culprit crying victim, yet doing it shamelessly. Everyone there had clearly seen who slapped Athena first, and now that same girl was the one tattling and calling for backup.
This kind of power-tripping wasn’t new in the upper circles; they’d seen plenty of spoiled brats pull the same stunt, but it was still the kind of behavior people despised the most. Even the heiresses from well-established families who happened to witness the scene looked displeased. For people of their status, acting this lowly was nothing short of embarrassing.
“Sir, please don’t jump to conclusions,” one of the nearby heiresses finally spoke up, unable to stay silent any longer.
