Capítulo 1015: Chapter 1015 Being Friends With Cherry 2
“Alright then, let’s follow each other. I think the content of our social media isn’t that different after all,” Hera said with a gentle smile as she lifted her phone with her uninjured arm. She unlocked it through face recognition and opened her social media profile before showing it to Cherry.
The moment Cherry caught sight of Hera’s account, her eyes widened, and a surprised gasp escaped her lips. She quickly covered her mouth with both hands, her expression filled with disbelief and excitement.
“Whoa! You have millions of fans! You’re so popular!” Cherry exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Then, almost shyly, she leaned closer and asked if she could borrow Hera’s phone to look through her posts, only to realize a second later that she could do that herself. She let out a soft laugh, stuck out her tongue playfully, and pulled out her own phone.
Within moments, she found Hera’s account and began scrolling through her feed, her awe growing with every post she saw. Her eyes shimmered with admiration before she suddenly gasped. “Wait… you’re a racer too?!” she blurted out, her voice rising in disbelief.
The exclamation caught her brothers’ attention, and when they turned to look at Hera, a mix of awe and surprise filled their eyes as well.
After all, in their eyes, women were supposed to be soft and gentle, just like their mother and sister. Dangerous pursuits like racing were something only men dared to do. Women, they believed, were easily frightened by such reckless things.
So when Cherry mentioned that Hera was a racer, the brothers were caught off guard. At first, they thought Cherry must have misunderstood; that Hera’s title as a “racer” probably referred to her simply driving sports cars for fun, not actually competing in real championships or professional races.
Until one of the brothers leaned over Cherry’s shoulder to take a look, curiosity getting the better of him. What he saw made his eyes widen: a photo of Hera from her first championship earlier that year, holding a massive trophy that nearly hid her face as she proudly lifted it for the camera.
Behind her stood her racing crew, along with familiar faces: Zhane, Rafael, Luke, Leo, Dave, and Xavier.
The one who had leaned in happened to be the fifth brother, who is a lawyer. As someone well-connected, he immediately recognized Dave; after all, the man was anything but low-profile.
That recognition made him take another look, first at Hera, then at the phone screen again. Only then did it dawn on him that, aside from Zhane and Rafael, who were right there in the hospital room, there were several other men around Hera in the photo who weren’t part of her racing team.
The way they looked at her, even through a picture, spoke volumes.
And as a man, he realized with a jolt of surprise that those men were probably Hera’s suitors.
“Y-You’re really a racer?” the fifth Sullivan brother stammered, his voice tinged with disbelief as he looked at Hera’s beautiful face once more. This time, however, there was a different kind of light in his eyes — genuine intrigue.
If before he’d been captivated merely by her beauty and poise, now he found himself drawn to something deeper: her strength, her confidence, the fire that came with being someone extraordinary.
But the moment those words left his mouth, both Rafael and Zhane exchanged a quick glance. A flicker of mischief — no, scheming — flashed in their eyes before vanishing as swiftly as it appeared, unnoticed by anyone else.
After all, there were already six of them, with a seventh on the way. Adding another rival to the mix was simply excessive. They weren’t about to let just anyone wander in like some stray cat or dog and start circling around Hera. She wasn’t an emperor who needed three thousand concubines, and they certainly weren’t saints willing to share her attention endlessly.
Really, who would want to rot quietly in a corner of her mind while she entertained an ever-growing harem? No one.
So when the fifth Sullivan brother’s interest started to stir, both Rafael and Zhane’s instincts kicked in immediately, like radar antennas shooting up, blaring silent alarms.
But since it was merely a flicker of interest, the two didn’t make a big deal out of it at first. Acting too controlling or reading too much into the situation would only make them look insecure, and worse, Hera might misunderstand their intentions.
So instead, they decided to handle this quietly, to snuff out that budding interest before it ever reached her notice.
Unfortunately for the fifth Sullivan brother, that tiny spark of curiosity had already painted a bright target on his back. Without realizing it, he had stepped right into the crosshairs of several silent predators lurking in the background, men who were more than ready to bare their fangs to protect their precious little cabbage, Hera.
Because of the fifth Sullivan brother’s outburst, the rest of his brothers couldn’t help but grow curious and interested in Hera as well. However, unlike their youngest brother, their reactions were far more subtle and restrained.
They had already noticed Rafael and Zhane pushing Hera’s wheelchair when she arrived and had seen how naturally the three interacted. They weren’t fools; they could tell those two men clearly had romantic feelings for her.
For all they knew, Rafael and Zhane were already courting Hera. So even without seeing the photo on Cherry’s phone like their fifth brother, they knew better than to show open interest; doing so would only alert potential love rivals.
Alas, the fifth Sullivan brother was still young and inexperienced. He might be formidable in the courtroom as a lawyer, but when it came to love, he was nothing more than a fledgling, an easy target for Hera’s already well-established harem.
Meanwhile, the center of everyone’s attention, Hera, remained blissfully unaware of the silent storm brewing in the room. She was too focused on chatting with Cherry, finding herself liking the girl more and more.
For a patient like Cherry, keeping her spirits high was the best way to aid her recovery. A light mood helped her body relax, easing the tension caused by stress, and if she maintained this cheerful attitude, she could soon be cleared for treatment.
“I’ve never actually tried riding in a race car before. I only ever saw them from afar when I watched from the stands…” Cherry said wistfully. Being the beloved daughter of the Sullivan family, her brothers were fiercely protective and never allowed her to do anything remotely dangerous.
So, she could only watch from the sidelines or through videos, wondering what it must feel like to race freely and feel the wind rushing past. Yet, despite her curiosity, she had the heart of a rabbit, easily startled and obedient, so she never once tried sneaking behind her brothers’ backs.
Seeing Cherry’s longing gaze fixed on her photo, and on the pictures of her race car speeding along the track, one of which was an especially striking shot she had posted, Hera couldn’t help but chuckle.
“How about this,” she said lightly, “when you get better and the doctor gives us the go signal, I’ll take you for a spin.”
But then her eyes drifted down to her own injured leg and arm. Catching Zhane’s stern, doctor-like expression, the one he used whenever his patients got too playful, Hera laughed again, this time awkwardly, and scratched the back of her head.
“Well… I guess both of us have to get better first before that happens, me included,” she admitted sheepishly.
Cherry burst into laughter at Hera’s nervous expression, finding her so endearing. Hera had been trying to lift Cherry’s spirits, forgetting for a moment about her own injuries, and that simple gesture warmed Cherry’s heart; it felt like she had just found a new friend.
But it was only then that Cherry realized Hera was injured too, and her curiosity got the better of her. “Wait… why are you injured?” she asked innocently.
Hera nearly choked on her own saliva. Of all the questions Cherry could have asked, it had to be that one. She had just promised to take Cherry for a spin to cheer her up, but how was she supposed to admit that her own injuries came from racing? Wouldn’t that sound like she was reckless… or worse, that she might get Cherry hurt too?
Seeing Hera so stumped, Rafael couldn’t help but let out an amused chuckle from the side. Hera immediately shot him a wide-eyed, pleading look, those doe eyes silently screaming, “Help me out, will you?”
That look was so disarming and adorable that Rafael almost choked on his laughter. But with that one glance, Hera had effectively kicked the ball into his court, leaving him to come up with an excuse on the spot.
If only he hadn’t reacted so quickly, maybe Hera would’ve found her own way out. But now, thanks to her little display of helpless charm (and a dash of acting skill), Rafael was forced to play along.
