Capítulo 648: He’s A Robot?
The person who spoke to me with a soft melodic voice was a woman. She was about six feet tall with long ivory white hair that flowed freely down her back. The woman had a radiant smile and kind green eyes that I could feel a great deal of Psionic pressure from.
The woman was dressed simply in a long green robe tied with a chord sash around her waist and a necklace hanging from her neck. The woman was looking at me with a soft smile while holding a cup of tea with quite the aromatic scent.
I frowned for a moment as I looked at her, she looked slightly familiar, but I couldn’t quite place her. “Um, sure. Feel free.” I said politely.
“Thank you.” The woman said with a slight bow before sitting opposite me. I was about to go back to people watching as I assumed the woman just wanted to sit down, but I was mistaken as she spoke up.
“Hi, I don’t mean to bother, but I would just like to apologise for the other day.” She said with a deep sincerity that threw me off a little bit.
“Umm…”
It seemed my confusion was apparent to her as she then pointed to herself. “Circe, remember? From Teacher Hecate’s study group?”
The pieces put themselves together in my hand as I replied. “Oh! Right! I knew you looked familiar; I just couldn’t place where I saw you… Wait, what are you sorry for?”
Circe blinked in surprise, I wasn’t sure if it was surprise that I forgot who she was or that I didn’t know what she was sorry for.
“You don’t know? I was very rude to you. When you brought up that you were aware of fiends, I basically accosted you. Stupefied that you knew what they were. I shouldn’t have done that. I thought myself above you for being in the group for longer, forgetting that others can have a vast repertoire of knowledge of Psionics before attending the college. So when you spoke of knowledge only a select few know about. I felt… Inferior and questioned you. For that I am sorry.”
I blinked without emotion. ‘ I don’t remember that?’ I couldn’t help thinking. I think I was more distracted by Spartari being insane wanting to summon a Psionic entity than some random comment.
Though the woman looked incredibly sincere as she looked at me for a reply, so I replied. “Oh. I see. Water under the bridge. Don’t worry about it.” My words seemed to have some shocking effect on her as she looked at me bewildered.
“What? You just forgave me? Just like that?” She asked, prompting my term to be bewildered by her bewilderment.
“All you did was ask a question right? That’s not really a transgression. Seriously, don’t worry about it.” I watched for a moment as the woman seemed to have a million thoughts racing behind those eyes of hers. I then shrugged my shoulders and took a sip of my drink.
‘Mmmh, I seriously need to learn how to make this…’ I couldn’t help thinking before realising the woman was now looking at me with a cute expression on her face. “Is that Psionic beer?”
‘Oh thank Jewel, I thought she was going to apologise again…’
“Yeah, why? Do you want a taste?” I said pushing the drink towards her. My action caused her to blink in surprise again as she looked between me and the drink a few times. “A-Are you sure? I don’t have the legal permission to drink the stuff. I have no clue how you have managed to do so when you are younger than me.”
I gestured my hand for her to go ahead. “Sure, I like sharing. Just be careful though, apparently this stuff is strong. I just have a high tolerance.”
The woman then picked up my drink and took a sip and immediately stuck out her tongue. “Bleugh! Poison!” I laughed softly at the faces Circe was pulling before taking the drink off her and having a few gulps.
“I like it. Although almost everyone else has a similar response. Maybe I am the odd one? Hahaha.” I chuckled before Circe took my drink off the table again and took another sip.
“Eugh! It tastes like-Oh hehehe! Wowzers!” Circe suddenly began to sway a little bit as I realised I was in company of another light weight. It looked like she was about to reach for the cup again, but considering I didn’t know the woman and it wouldn’t be appropriate to carry her out of here if she passed out, I swiftly took the drink and downed the rest.
I watched for a moment as Circe began putting each of her digits to her thumb and began speaking like a researcher. “Fascinating. The effects of inebriation hit almost instantaneously and are much stronger than almost anything I have experienced before. Efforts to expel the sensation with Psionic energy is also proving futile, though this may be due to my- Hic- thoughts being fuzzy.”
She then turned to look at me and squinted her eyes. “Subject A, while consuming much more of the beverage than I, shows no such symptoms, conclusion. The man is actually a robot! I will now conduct covert testing to prove this fact.”
I smiled as Circe stood up from the chair she was sitting on and moved to the one to my right. “You Apollo ‘person’ Show me your circuits.”
I smiled and decided to humour the woman, since this was basically my fault. “And how do I do that? I am pure flesh and blood I am afraid.”
Circe then went wide eyes and looked away as she continued to mutter to herself. “Inconceivable! The Robot refused a directive… Could the robot actually be human? It does look human… And why would a robot care for attractiveness? Hmmm… I have a test that could work. Yes…”
She then turned towards me again and with narrowed eyes she demanded. “Apollo, show me what’s under your jacket.”
I continued to humour the woman, finding the event hilarious. “Under my jacket? That is a bit personal don’t you think? We barely know each other and you are trying to get me out of my clothes? For shame.”
Circe then leaned closer and whispered to me. “Listen here Apollo I can tell you are a nice guy, so I feel I can trust you with this information… I think Apollo might be a robot. Just play along and help me get his jacket off so I can see if has synth skin under his shirt.”
I mouthed an ‘oh’ before giving Circe a sly wink. “Oh ok. I’ll see to it.” She then gave me a double thumbs up and then looked at me inquisitively, her eyebrows furrowing.
“Wait what is happening again? Did I just try and get you to- Oh my, those look dangerous.” Circe declared as the effects of the drink wavered slightly and she regained clarity. She then got the view of a very shredded man’s torso.
She then cleared her throat and returned to her original chair. “Definitely human. It seems I was mistaken. Forgive me Apollo.” She then took a sip of her tea and frowned at its temperature.
I smiled as I zipped my jacket back up. “Water under the bridge. Speaking of water, do you want me to heat that up for you?”
Circe looked between myself and the drink for a moment before sliding her cup over with the saucer underneath. After the triviality of heating the drink back up, I slid it back. She then looked at me curiously. “Thermokinesis? An odd pairing with Gyrokinesis.”
I chuckled and nodded. “Yeah, I have quite the hodgepodge of powers that’s for sure. What about you? What are your powers?”
‘Hodgepodge?’ Circe was confused by the foreign word for a moment before she began to answer. “Oh, my powers are quite symbiotic to one another I-”
“-Circe? What the fuck are you doing sitting with that guy?”
The two of us turned towards the voice and walking towards us was a trio. Two men and a woman. All three I recognised from Hecate’s group. Hamish and Vera stood together holding hands leaving me to guess the angry male voice was most likely the third person.
“Jack? Why are you yelling? I am sitting with a classmate?”
Jack was a man in his mid twenties with spikey black hair and yellow eyes. He looked at me with malice for some reason, before turning back to Circe as he approached the table.
“This kiss ass? Dude is a bigger pet than Rebecca and that is saying something as she basically has her nose up Lady Hecate’s ass. Plus, did you see the way his ‘Mother’ was all over him in the classroom? It was pathetic. He is a fucking baby and she is-
“HEY!”
I Psionically amplified my voice in warning, quieting the whole bar as I stood up and looked down at this Jackass before me and explained slowly and very, very carefully. “Talk as much shit as you want about me. As much as you want. I don’t give a shit what it takes to fuel whatever ego trip is going on here, but…”
I then leaned in very close towards the man and spoke in a tone that made those nearby shiver.
“If you ever attempt to disrespect anyone I call family again… It won’t end well for you… This is your first and final warning.”
I let the threat sting the air for a few moments, nothing but breathing was heard as I stared down the man, letting my eyes do more talking than my words did. Once I knew the message was ingrained, I then turned my back on the man intentionally and successfully walked back to my seat without altercation. I then breathed out calmly and smiled, my hands extended to my side in a welcoming manner.
“Now, classmates, how can I help you this fine evening?”
