Capítulo 636: Utterly Flummoxed
After spending a little too much time explaining dieting, I finally moved on and continued with the bloods. Mindy was next and there were no surprises. Her blood was still completely normal, which I expected.
I then placed Mithra’s slide in and the moment I saw it I went. “Oh, that is interesting.” I said and leaned in closer. “Your white blood count is off the chart, but I can tell it is not affecting the rest of your blood. In fact, the rest of your blood is pretty much perfect. Your cell walls are strong and robust and look, you also have a small trace of Psionics in your blood, though I suppose that is natural for a Haemokinetic. This is really good, the only thing I can recommend we do to help you is attempting to encourage more Psionic energy into the bloodstream.”
Mithra stuck her head up, feeling good that her blood had impressed Apollo. With it being tied into her power, though she gets embarrassed by it, it was a good thing her blood was one of the best here.
Finally among the volunteers was Hailey, I secretly had high expectations for her blood. She was a strong Psionic wielder and had multiple powers under her belt. She had only awakened twice, but for humans that was very good. Especially when the power wasn’t similar to your others like whatever happened with Lena.
As I put her slide into the machine, I was not disappointed at all. “Very nice Hailey, very nice. Your blood is rich with Psionic energy almost octuple that of Yvonne. No wonder you are considered a genius. The rest of your blood is also fine, no imbalances or things to worry about, so again with you, we should focus on pushing that Psionics in the bloodstream even further. It will only boost your Psionic capabilities.”
Hailey simply nodded her head with an indifferent look on her face, but as her friend, I could tell she was happy to be praised.
After pulling out Hailey’s slide, the chipmunk had her say again. “So? Are we going to see your illustrious blood now? Were you saving the best till last?”
Before I could reply, Mindy then chimed in. “Yeah, actually. I do want to see how different yours is to ours. Because to me, all that blood looked exactly the same to me, I am wondering how different yours will look?”
I chuckled at Mindy’s comment. “Oh, don’t worry, you will be able to tell the difference immediately.” I said cryptically. Before placing my own slide into the machine. The moment my blood showed up on the screen, Hailey gasped loudly, her hands covering her mouth.
Everyone else looked on, utterly confused by what they were seeing. “Um, Apollo. What’s that blue stuff?” Mithra asked, not sure what she was seeing.”
“Which one? The few blood cells that have mixed with the blue stuff are Psionics that are slowly and I mean very slowly becoming one with my blood in the literal sense, the other blue stuff is just Psionics in my bloodstream. My Psionics always appear blue when in my bodily fluids.
“Whoa whoa whoa! Are you turning into a Psionic being? Actual Psionic blood? I… That is incredible.” Mithra said, astonished. I chuckled at the notion.
“Goodness no. That would require messing with the Psionic existence, something I am not sure how to do… Yet. What this does is brings me closer to my own Psionics. Allowing me to use them both easier and more efficiently. Infusing my body parts and blood with Psionic energy this way also helps increase my natural growth, giving my body the extra ‘nutrients’ it needs to grow so I won’t get stuck in a Psionic bottleneck, though it can still happen.”
Hailey then raised her hand and I noticed worry in her eyes? She was giving me a look as though she wanted to ask something personal and I gave her the nod that it was ok. “Apollo, when you had your Psionic decay, didn’t you say your body was being overtaken by Psionics much like what we are seeing now? How are you ok with this? But months ago you were in constant agony and on the verge of death?”
I hummed at her question. “Fair question. In simple terms, I was not prepared for the series of events that predated my decay to occur. When all those events happened, the Psionics in my body sort of took over becoming stronger than I currently could handle. The attack I received at the palace only exacerbated this of course, with it destroying my body slowly, the Psionics did its best to close the gaps, to prevent me from being erased and yeah something else also happened… Something I should not be able to do. But long story short, this is more controlled than the decay. I can monitor this, increase and decrease the rate I grow at will with my science. I appreciate your worry, but I am completely safe and entirely out of harm’s way. Has that eased your worry?”
Hailey nodded her head, glad Apollo knew what he was doing. The sight and the continued thought of Apollo during his decay was the second worst thing she had ever seen. The thought of him getting hurt like that again spurned a deep worry and an even deeper rage within her.
‘Nothing will cause my man that type of harm again for as long as I draw breath.’ She vowed
…
The second part of the day’s gathering was simpler. Everyone was separating their own DNA from their blood. Those with a Science background, Mithra, Jason and Althea all finished within an hour. After they stored their DNA for me to look at later, I said they could leave. I didn’t want to keep everyone for too long during the next few sessions as it’s all setting up still. Once they start learning to create their own formulas they will be here all day long, so I want to give them some respite early.
For the rest of them, I went back and forth helping everyone with the various steps. It took a few hours but everyone eventually finished. After enjoying the declarations of people’s surprise and enjoyment at learning about their blood and how to extract their DNA, I was left alone to continue my work, almost alone.
“Are you not going Hailey?” I asked as I walked over to the main super computer. Hailey’s icy façade broke now everyone was gone. “Why would I do that? You know how I feel about you now. Is it so bad I want to spend some more time with you? Besides, I also want to know what you are doing now.”
Hailey’s response made me chuckle, but I suppose it made sense, we were at the start of a new junction in our relationship.
“Very well, you can stay. But I am not doing anything super fun right now. I am just comparing all the bloods I have currently together. Comparing all the similarities and differences. I need to find a common ground for all bloods in order to make the temp formula. Basically, I am just going to be looking at everyone’s ATGC’s”
Hailey frowned for a moment remembering her academic years. “That is Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine. Right? Wouldn’t that take ages? Can’t you just let the computer do that?”
“Oh, the computer already has. I just like to um… Add the personal touch. It’s just a compulsion of mine. I really like my work.” I said picking up my goggles and placing them onto my head.
“You are of course, welcome to keep me company. It will save me the embarrassment of being caught singing again.” I said jokingly.
“Oh…” Hailey said off to my side, a tiny bit sombre. Turning my attention away from the blood in front of me, I pulled up my goggles, confused. “Did I say something wrong?”
Hailey back peddled. “No! No, nothing wrong… I was just about to ask if you could sing for me again is all…”
Her shy look made me laugh out loud before I gave in. “Very well.”
…
A few hours later, Hailey and I were bantering back and forth as I was looking through all the blood before I suddenly froze in shock. “What?” I exclaimed, utterly flummoxed.
“Apollo? Is everything alright?” Hailey asked, confused by the sudden change after hours of cheery back and forth.
I didn’t reply to her as I hastily manifested Zircon and slashed my hand open. I then threw Zircon to the side and she hovered next to me as I compared the blood I just spilt to the blood I was analysing.
“What the shit? There is no possible way? The odds of that happening are…” The world around me became mute and I began running some serious tests. Hours later, after running test after test with both the computer and my own knowledge, I actually could not believe my eyes at what I was seeing. This needed to be addressed. Now.
Turning around, I once again was jump scared by Nerissa who was standing directly behind me. It looked like she wanted to speak, but I cut her off. “No time, I have to go check on something.” I then spotted Hailey nearby, asleep on the side. “Oh shit. Right. Can you take her to our place and put her in the guest room? I’ll be back… at some point.” I declared before sprinting away.
