Chapter 587: Tomorrow’s Itinerary
Gabrielle was walking up and down the path in front of Apollo’s home for the last two hours. She has been secretly watching him though some heavy duty Olympus surveillance equipment she just so happened to ‘acquire.’
‘He was supposed to go for some cookies from what I heard him say to Valerica. that shouldn’t have taken so long… So where is he?’ Gabrielle immediately feared the worst. ‘Has that skank that stuck to him like glue after seeing his amazing powers seduced him back to her place? How dare she…’
Gabrielle felt an anger bred from jealousy rise within her. That skank had done what she wanted to do more than anything without little to no effort…
She got close to her son without even trying. This irked her and left her incredibly vexed. Gabrielle huffed out in annoyance, startling a passerby who looked at her weirdly before she heard a voice on the wind, instantly perked her up.
‘HE IS COMING! Play it cool, play it cool~ You got this. You got this. Act casual, slightly surprised, wait for him to come around the corner and… Now.’
…
‘Almost home.’ I thought to myself with a smile. Orchid was sulking by my side however, as we still had a plus one. We had walked Lena back to the dorm building after Millie’s so she could. ‘Enter cookie coma until lesson time.’ But after giving away the fact that we did not live in said dorms, but had our own home, she stopped feeling sleepy and declared we must have a best friend party at once!
We then made a stop to buy some drinks to bring back and bought some more snack food for a friendly night in, before coming back home.
Just as we arrived at the front door, a voice sounded out from behind us. “Oh Apollo, have you been out? Good timing, I was just coming to see you.” Turning to meet the voice, I was pleasantly surprised. “Oh, Gabrielle. Hi how are you-Oh hugging again, you really like hugging huh?”
Not that I was complaining, the fuzzy feeling I felt from her hugs was still present.
Gabrielle simply giggled hearing that before pulling away and turning to Lena. “Oh? Another new friend? You are a social magnet huh Apollo? What’s your name dear?”
Lena then puffed out her chest upon meeting one of Apollo’s friends, she had to put the woman in her place so she could respect the social hierarchy. “Sup chumpet. I’m Lena. Apollo’s new best mate. Are you a fire chick as well? If so, you’ve got to show me your flames so I can determine if they are potent enough for our little crew.”
‘Oh… one of these.’ Gabrielle thought. She met a couple of these types, the super attached, who don’t know their fiction from reality, crazies from Olympus. There were times there she felt she was the only sane one… The best way to deal with these ones is to just accept their reality while they are around. Things get less volatile that way. And she wouldn’t want to appear that way in front of her son.
“Oh? Is that so? Well, you are in luck, I don’t have any Pyrokinesis Lena, so no worries there. Now are you guys planning something? I see alcohol in that sack Orchid is carrying. Is that the most wise course of action before the first lessons tomorrow?”
Her question caused me to chuckle. “It’s fine. There is only a little bit and nothing Psionic. Just got it for the taste and that’s pretty much it. You are free to join us if you like? But did you say you were coming to see me for something?”
Gabrielle tilted her head in confusion before seemingly recollecting herself. “Oh right! Yes. Hailey and I just got out of a last minute teacher conference. Sorting out classes, splitting up and dealing with conflicting schedules and all that stuff.” She then pulled out two folded pieces of paper and handed them to me. As I put the cookie box I was holding under my arm, I opened the paper as she explained. “That is yours and Orchids’ Itinerary for tomorrow. With the large amount of first years and all taking Psionic basics, we are splitting the lectures up into four. You will be in lecture hall 2 tomorrow. The both of you. That will save you a lot of trouble figuring out where you need to go tomorrow. Now as for your offer? I’d be delighted to join you!”
I looked at the lessons for tomorrow and was excited. I had three classes and Orchid had one. Basic Psionics introduction, which we are going to have to attend for Janine, even if we don’t actually learn anything. I then had the aura projection class that I signed up for Janie’s sake, but at the same time, I was still genuinely curious if these Spartari lot actually raw dog the Psionic plane or not… Either way, it’s going to be interesting to find out.
The final lesson tomorrow was just for me. It was Hecate’s advanced class. I had no clue what I would be doing there, only that I was asked to attend and it had been put on my itinerary. I was very curious about that one though. Hecate was extremely strong and I would love to learn more about her wormholes as well.
Looking back up after checking everything over I smiled at Gabrielle. “Thank you for this. Now, let’s stop standing around out here and head on in.”
…
As soon as I opened the door, Lena charged inside so she could get a look at the digs, but was then halted as the Praetorian was just standing there seemingly waiting for them to arrive.
“Oh, um wow. I-Hello.” Lena spoke nervously. She had seen Apollo and the Praetorian speak before, but she didn’t put two and two together about Apollo being the legendary first year dude with the praetorian following him around.
“Nerissa, stop with the silent act and say hello.” I said casually before walking forward and opened my box to her. “Cookie?”
Nerissa looked at Lena for a moment, causing Lena to sweat. “I saw you a lot today Lena, you have an exeptional talent for whip combat. Bravo.” Nerissa then turned to me and picked up a small cookie and pushed it through her gossamer face covering with no hassle.
While Lena was short circuiting at being complimented by a Praetorian, I put my cookies down on the couch and said. “Everyone make yourselves comfortable, I’m just going to check on Janine and see if she is better.”
Gabrielle then chimed in, walking right past Nerissa’s intense hidden glare. “Oh? Is Janine ill? poor thing.” I nodded. “Yeah, she wasn’t feeling great this morning, I’ll check on her now. Be right back.”
After making my way upstairs, I walked up to Janine’s room and opened the door ajar and knocked. “Janine, it’s Apollo. Are you ok? Can I come in?” There was no reply. I didn’t want to invade Janine’s privacy any further than I had to, but considering she wasn’t feeling well this morning, I decided just to stick my head in and see if she was asleep.
Shock took root within me as Janine was not there. None of her stuff was in here. In fact all that was in here was the… I pulled my head out of the doorway and looked down the row of rooms towards the guest room. ‘What the? Did my brain malfunction? I swore Janine chose this room…’
Walking over to the guest room I knocked on the door and frowned with confusion as it opened. “Oh Hey Apollo, how was practice? Also, did you seriously knock on my door? You don’t need to do that, just come in.”
Janine then grabbed my jacket and pulled me into the room playfully while I looked around confused. “Are you feeling better Janine?” My question and my actions were quickly picked up on by Janine, who had been preparing for this all day…
“Oh yeah. Right. Not long after you left I actually started feeling better, not sure what happened there. Long story short, I was bored and decided I preferred the layout of this room to the room I chose, so I switched. No biggie.”
…
A moment of silence passed between the two of us, Janine began to feel awkward. ‘Shit does he know?’ The question ran through her mind before as usual, the more simple conclusion came out of Apollo’s mouth.
“Oh, ok. I thought I was going senile for a moment. I came to check up on you in the other room and got confused. Anyway, glad to see you better, I got you some cookies downstairs if you are hungry? Oh and a woman is downstairs called Lena, just ignore her if she says she is my best mate. That will always be you. Now, I have got to make a call and will be with you shortly.”
I said and walked away into my room and shut the door behind me. Leaving a seething Janine behind who was pondering the question.
‘Who is the bitch that so boldly attempts to claim that title from me?’
