Chapter 574: “Should We Stop Them?”

Moran snapped out of his muted shock. “Wait what! No I’m not gay!” he then turned to the guy that handed him the card and said sterner. “I am not gay!”

Orchid shook her head. As a master of emotional love, she should have known… Rejection could make one act out. She wouldn’t usually interact with others past this point, but it was her good deed that has forced the man into a corner, she was simply doing what Apollo would do.

“It is ok to feel the way you do. It may be biologically ineffective, but there is nothing wrong with the way you are feeling. You should follow your feelings to another partner though, like I said, Apollo will not want to lay with you.” Orchid then gave the man a sympathetic nod of understanding before looking away again.

Moran was more stunned than before. Something had seriously gone wrong here… This needed seriously fixing. “Orchid I-” He was then interrupted by the teacher in charge of this section of students speaking serenely.

“Alexios Moran, Alexios Moran, you are next.”

Moran looked over aghast. ‘This isn’t the time, woman!’ He thought maliciously, before turning back to Orchid.

Hecate opened her eyes towards the malice she just felt and frowned at the student who dared feel that way towards her. Reaching out telekinetically, She formed a long tendrilled hand and grabbed the students shoulder before yanking him with great force.

Moran was discombobulated by the sudden shift in his body in comparison to his surroundings. ” I said, you are next. Students do not keep me waiting. Now go.”

“Should- Should we stop them?” a medical staff member asked worriedly. Another one shook his head. “I am not getting in between the two of them! Look at them, they are fucking smiling while wailing on each other.”

A presence suddenly arrived behind the group that had formed and parted to give way to her.

Nerissa walked forward towards the two battle fiends and sighed. “Apollo, Valerica.” She addressed us casually.

A punch stopped mid flight, an inch from my face while my knee also stopped its trajectory to Valerica’s rib. We both simultaneously looked towards Nerissa with confusion, but it was Valerica that spoke first. “What is it?”

“You are supposed to be conducting tests, observing the students, not playfighting.” The term ‘playfighting’ caused a murmur among the crowd that had been watching the fight. The teacher had been moving faster and her blows were more powerful than most had ever seen in their lives. How could that be playful?

Valerica blushed, embarrassed. Not at fighting with her son. To her, there was no greater feeling. No she was embarrassed as she was having so much fun that she had forgotten that she had a job to do. This was very unprofessional.

Pulling her fist away from Apollo, she coughed composing herself. “Apollo, are you injured? Do you require any medical aid?”

I shook my head. “No, all good, just surface wounds. Actually, yes. Could someone close this gash above my eye? I would rather not have reddened vision for the rest of the day should blood get into it.”

“Ok honey, you go over there and get healed up and then go and run the course.” Valerica said before turning to everyone else. “Okay everyone, well done. You can all move over to Hecate for the next series of tests. However, can Sigfried, Francesca, Tamara, Lena and Apollo, stay behind at the end of the day? Dismissed.”

Valerica then watched as everyone left and headed towards Hecate. She then waved over a medic. “Patch me up, I have three bruised ribs on the left side. That boy’s knees are something deadly.”

The medic began to imbue her Psionics into her hand before applying directly above the requested location. She struggled to pass her energy through Valerica’s strong body, but she managed with practiced efficiency. When she felt the healing effect take hold, curiosity got the better of her and had to ask.

“So, Lady Hyllus, that man you were fighting with. You seemed intimate with him. Do you know him well?” Valerica smiled, despite the odd effect of foreign Psionics in her body, it made her momentarily curious about what made Apollo’s energy feel so good? But she shelved the thought till later.

“I am very intimate with him and know him very well. That is my son.” She stated simply, causing a surprised expression to form on the medics face. “O-Oh. My lady, I was not aware you had more than one child? I know of Lady Kathrine, but not of that Apollo fellow.”

Valerica shook her head. “Well Apollo is adopted, but that doesn’t make him any less mine. I just wish I had birthed him. He is the perfect child.” The medic smiled warmly hearing this. As a good citizen of Spartari, she donated a good amount of her income to relief aids and charities, most of which revolved around orphanages and aiding orphans. As she was one herself.

So to hear a very important noble say that, warmed her soul in the best of ways. “All patched up Lady Hyllus and just in time, here comes the next batch.” Valerica smiled and thanked the medic before limbering up to make sure she was in peak condition.

Nodding to herself at the medics work, she got prepared to bully a bunch of young adults again.

After finishing the obstacle course, I ran over to where the rest of my group had gone and received looks as I approached. I didn’t blame them, my whole ‘keep a semi low profile plan’ had gone out the window after having a prolonged fight with the teacher that took most of them out in one move.

I didn’t mind all that much though. I understood why some people would want to stay in the shadows and want to keep their power a secret, but I wasn’t too fussed. I just didn’t want to become a poaching target for bigwigs, I had my own path already, I didn’t need others attempting to dictate it for me.

As I was mulling this over, I went to take my seat before I was called out to by a familiar voice. “Ah Apollo, finally gracing us with your presence?” Turning to the raised platform, I smiled at Hecate and apologised.

“Sorry, I was fighting with Valerica and it took a while, I had to run the obstacle course as everyone was coming over.”

A portal suddenly opened up in front of me and out from it emerged Hecate. She then levitated herself and grabbed me by the shoulders. “Did you hurt her? Please tell me you hurt her. I need dirt on that hoe… I mean, your mother has annoyed me quite consistently lately, I need something to put her in her place.”

I chuckled at the crack in her façade before replying. “Yes. While neither of us were going all out like during our pankration’s, I definitely bruised her ribs. She can’t hide those types of grunts, no matter how strong she is.”

Hecate’s smile almost split her head in two hearing this, but she quickly composed herself. “I see… Well thank you for letting me know of this wonderful titbit of information, I am sure it will come in handy later on today. For now, why don’t you take a seat while I continue with the examinations?”

Hecate then went back through her portal while I went to sit down next to Mindy. “Apollo, that was crazy to watch. I remember you back in Alexandria, have you gotten stronger and faster since then?”

I nodded my head. “Yeah, My overall bodily prowess had grown considerably this year and my Psionic repertoire had increased, but my overall Psionic power has stayed relatively the same as I have been only refining it, not really training it nearly as much as my body, but now I am at the college, I am going to do a swap since my body is in a really good place right now.”

Mindy sighed. “I wish I could get stronger that fast… I have barely made any progress since we departed from one another.” She then looked down dejected before I grabbed her chin and forced her to look at me.

“Mindy… Time is a big factor in Psionics. I have had so much more time to learn and study and I’m currently in a growth spurt because of that. You will hit that point eventually. But if you want to see results somewhat fast, how about you join my dispensation? I have two slots left open for volunteers. I’m sure you would enjoy it.”

I let go of Mindy’s chin, but she maintained her gaze upon mine as her mind began to absorb everything I just said. I wasn’t sure what she was thinking about as her face was frowning and releasing quite a bit, but eventually she came up next to me and hugged my arm, resting her head against my shoulder and then she whispered.

“Ok, I will join, I already trusted you awakening my Mindspace, I suppose whatever you do to my body to make it strong won’t be nearly as bad. But Please, don’t add too much onto my workload here, I feel like I am already going to be swamped once classes start.”
