Capítulo 1515: Gathered Elders

Elder Socrate, the head of the Alchemy Hall, came out to greet the other Elders, and looked startled to see Karl sitting there with an Epic Grade spear in his hand.

“Tell me that he’s not attacking Elders now? I swear we had an understanding about behaving before I went to bed.”

Forsham laughed. “No, he just finished making that. He wasn’t going to use it on anyone. It’s a gift for his wife.”

The Alchemy Hall Elder stared at the spear for a moment, then smiled. “That is a most wonderful gift for the wife. It hits every part of her combat specialties, even improving the effectiveness of her [Auto Parry]. You did well, Monster Man.”

Karl sighed, and the Elders laughed.

“What? It suits you very well. Have you ever seen someone poke a wild animal until they snap and attack?”

Karl realized that they viewed him as a somewhat docile predator. One who would normally let you socialize with them, but which would attack at the slightest provocation.

A bit like keeping a Moor Cat as a house pet.

[Or a Chaos Badger] Tian added helpfully.

[Hey, I do not attack at the slightest provocation.]

[…]

[Whatever, I have to get to class. The kids will miss me if I’m not at breakfast with them in the school cafeteria.]

The door chimed as a customer entered, and the man froze as he saw three of the top Elders standing in the middle of the room.

“I can come back.” He muttered, turning to leave.

“No, finish your purchase, we were just going to breakfast. Karl, are you remaining here?”

Karl nodded. “I will stay on shift until I am needed for something else. It will get me through punishment faster.”

If he just sat in the Alchemy Hall, he could be done his punishment in a little over four days.

The man known locally as “The Moron” came forward with a list. Five kilos of materials for basic Immortal Rank, Common Grade healing potions. The cheapest potion that most Immortals stocked.

“Alright, we have them all in stock. Would you like to pay by coin or Clan Credit?”

“Clan Credit. I just finished a mission, it should have applied.”

Karl looked at the screen, and then did a double take.

{Div1ne_Sw@Gg0d_2} Clan Balance: 3 credits

No wonder everyone called him a moron. What sort of name was that? And he picked it for himself, no less.

The runner waved to the customer as she brought out the ingredients, and then waited patiently for Karl to give her a treat.

This morning was breakfast burrito day in the Tiny World, and someone had made hundreds of them with Mystic Cooking.

“Do you eat eggs?” Karl quietly asked the bunny.

She nodded silently, and he handed her a wrapped burrito, then sent her on her way.

The Moron stared at Karl’s hands in awe. “You can just make food appear? What sort of overpowered skill is that.”

He waved his hands, as if willing it would make it happen for him as well.

“They’re in my inventory, it’s not a skill. Here, it’s a breakfast burrito to feed you on your way to breakfast.”

“Nice. It doesn’t even smell like garbage.”

Right, he sat in the corner by the trash cans.

Two credits poorer, The Moron left the Alchemy Hall, while the Elders frowned at him.

“You know, he actually has potential. But he’s so determined that weird technique of his is going to make him a God that he’s not even willing to try anything else.”

Karl shrugged. “The burritos help with growth. Who knows, maybe they will be enough to get him moving. I noticed that he only got healing potion herbs, not growth potion materials.”

“He doesn’t believe in them.” Elder Socrate confirmed.

The man was definitely making his own life harder than it had to be.

The Elders moved to the side of the room to have a quiet conversation, and a few more customers came in, visibly in a hurry to get their supplies and get fed before their tasks started for the day.

“Welcome to the Alchemy Hall, I can help you here.”

The five of them all placed their orders on the counter at the same time, and Karl pulled the one from the bottom of the pile to process first.

“First come, first served. Please wait one moment.

These are in stock, exchange or Credits?”

“Clan Credits. Make it fast, or the tables will all fill up.”

Karl rang in the requests, and the bunnies rushed out, each holding one single order.

They obviously could have sent one person with all five, but that would mess up their system.

The one where Karl gave them food.

Karl passed out breakfast and patted the bunnies for luck as he passed out the orders, and deducted the clan credits.

“You’re all good to go. Enjoy your morning.”

The group rushed out, and Elder Forsham turned back to the counter.

“You know, Socrate, I think he’s actually better at that than the paid cashiers. Most of the time, the runners take nearly the full five minutes to return with the herbs, but they come running for him.”

Socrate, the Alchemy Elder, chuckled. “He bribes them with food.”

“Still, they wouldn’t even take food from half of the other employees. They’d be too worried about being poisoned as a prank.”

Karl sighed. “What sort of prank is that? Bunnies are adorable. The little twitchy noses, fluffy ears. What is not to like about them? I’m more concerned that a certain catgirl is going to steal my good spot in the bed.”

Elder Forsham laughed. “I knew that room was the right spot to put you. The Dana Mage has even dragged Geoff out of his room to the dining hall. It’s good to see everyone making friends.”

Elder Socrate rolled his eyes. “That’s because you have foresight, and you like to watch their relationships blow up the instant that they leave the Clan Compound and need to compete in the outside world.”

The old Immortal just shrugged. “Whatever. Watching them fight strangers lacks all the emotion and drama of seeing them backstabbed over a resource that they could have shared if they weren’t trash as human beings.”
