Chapter 919: Questions for the Universe – 919

“How did the Universe form?” Zhou Fan asked.

After all, he was talking to the Universe itself.

“I do not know. One day, it was just there. Back then, I did not have a consciousness. My consciousness was born from the countless souls lost in the Universe. I can be called an amalgamation of all beings that ever died. Although that Ying Xiong causes me to receive many less souls than before with his whole reincarnation and underworld thing, I do not mind at all. However, I have a feeling that you are approaching the very truth of how our Universe was created.” The gentle voice said.

Zhou Fan thought back to the vision of the man he had seen when he had fought the being born from Hun Wu and Hun Luan.

“Do you know what power that being wielded?” Zhou Fan asked.

“No. It is something beyond existence and nonexistence. Once again, I imagine you have hints of the answer.”

Zhou Fan looked around. “Are the Sources sentient?”

“No. Not truly. They simply represent the absolute origin of everything created. What appears to be sentience is simply my influence and their draw to you, as you created them.”

Zhou Fan thought for a moment. “What is talent?”

“In part, talent is simply the representation of a being, down to the deepest level of their soul. However, its true origin lies beyond my understanding. Surely, these answers will be found by you.”

“You aren’t very knowledgeable.” Zhou Fan said.

“Your questions are simply too deep. What can I say?” The Source of Chaos said.

“Fine then. How about this? Can you strip a being’s control over the power of Chaos away?” Zhou Fan asked.

Since this was the literal Source of Chaos, it would make sense.

“It depends on how deep their grasp of Chaos is. For beings like you or Hun Luan, that option was very quickly removed. For all other beings, however, there are few that I cannot completely strip the power of Chaos away from. After all, none of them truly understand it. Only people like Lu Jue and Ye Li could possibly resist my power.”

Zhou Fan considered a question he had wondered for a while. “Was my birth by design, or by chance?”

“I did not have anything to do with your birth.” The Source of Chaos responded.

Although Zhou Fan understood the Source of Chaos was telling the truth, it still seemed hard to believe. It had taken so many Sage Years for someone else like him to be born, in the form of Hun Luan, but the Universe hadn’t been very old at all when he had been created.

It was hard to understand the odds of such a thing.

“Can you control talent at all?” Zhou Fan asked.

“I can pose restrictions on the Universe. But I have never activated them. It would be pointless.” The Source of Chaos said.

Zhou Fan had been alive for countless years, and naturally had thought of many questions. Some he had found the answer for himself. Others, the Source of Chaos could answer.

“How do you feel about the expansion of the Multiverse?”

“I don’t mind it at all.” The Source of Chaos responded.

After a few more questions, Zhou Fan was done.

“I have no more questions.”

“Alright. If you need anything else, let me know. Otherwise, there is a surprise for you when you get back. I don’t know if you felt it, but I sure did.” The Source of Chaos said.

Zhou Fan nodded. “Just a bit.”

He left.

He looked in the direction where he had felt something.

A child was born, a child of immense talent.

Importantly, this child was born in a family of mortals. Throughout the entire Multiverse, true mortals were extremely rare. From every billion cultivator families, there was one mortal family.

Almost all beings were born at the Qi Gathering realm or higher. Some were even born as Immortals.

This family lived in the mountains, away from society.

As the boy grew, Zhou Fan felt that he was similar to him when he was younger.

The only thing he was missing was the opportunity.

And that opportunity occurred as the boy played with a stick.

The sky began to darken as the boy swung a stick around.

“Vroom. Pew! Krsh!” The boy said as he swung it around.

And as he pointed the stick to the sky, lightning shot down. It hit the stick before continuing on to the boy.

The boy was sent flying.

He was still for a while, before he stood up. Something was in his eyes, something that had perhaps only been seen when Zhou Fan had been struck with lightning.

The boy waved the stick, which was much smaller and burnt, around.

Qi gathered around it. It was weak, but it signified something unique. A new Path. And not any path. Zhou Fan could tell at a glance that this path was parallel with the path of Cultivation.

It was something that could completely shake the Universe.

From that day on, the boy played in the woods more often.

The boy had named his Path, “Magic”.

After a few days, he was able to cause Fire Qi to form a flame while using his stick to control the Qi in the air.

The boy grew, and very quickly. In this world where even a mortal family could exist, there was not much in terms of power.

Zhou Fan decided to make it empty in terms of power.

All the beings here were manipulated, their memories erased and their cultivations dissipated into air.

This was now a mortal planet, something even rarer than a mortal family.

And the boy in the woods would be able to grow just as Zhou Fan had so long ago.

The boy’s name was Fa Zhu.

Fa Zhu did not tell his family about this secret he had uncovered.

He did not want them to be scared by his ability to control fire, water, air, etc.
