Chapter 439: A oneside massacre

Alice, who had not just the blessing of the constellation, but the seed seal on her back that aids her demonic energy growth, as well as her normal stats, had grown to a terrifying extent.

No one could fathom the level of her growth. No one could even rival her. Compared to her, everyone else was like ants.

If ants come together, they could do damage to an elephant, they say, but how much damage could they exactly inflict? It was not noteworthy before they were wiped out by the elephant.

The point was, Alice could destroy the world if she wanted to, and no one would survive; that was why Leo had been keeping a close eye on her demonic energy.

If it grew out of control and consumed her, she would be a force the world could not handle. He was preparing her for the calamity, and not so she could end the world with her own hands before the calamity came.

They had to increase its growth since it helped a lot in forcing gates closed and increased attack power by a certain margin, but not too much.

This rate was okay, he thought.

But its growth would likely double if she happens to kiss a man before she trains, thanks to the succubus blessing attached to the seed.

That was why he hoped she did not get intimate with any of the guys who had a profound interest in her.

But she was just so stubborn. Would she finally listen to his warning?

He ended up explaining it to her and detail.

She would probably feel the urge to pin a man down after abstaining for a long time, because the succubus vine not only influenced the men around her but also her desires.

That was why she had to exercise restraint. If she gave in at the oddest time, like before they decide to kill monsters, then she was putting not just herself in danger, but the world as it was.

At the time, Alice nodded understandably but he just couldn’t trust that gullibility of hers.

They had this conversation just three days ago but he had a feeling she had forgotten about it.

Anyways, they were back in the house and she was going to continue living her life as she did in the past, but this time, they would add training into her daily curriculum.

Hm, should we even call it training? She was basically just killing monsters.

A one-sided massacre.

(Now, don’t ask me why Alice hasn’t jumped Leo yet, haha. She probably doesn’t see him as a man yet.)

The elevator door opened and they walked out with Leo still holding Alice’s hand.

He felt this would create a light, if not heavy, misunderstanding, but Alice was holding on too tightly, so he couldn’t naturally drop her hand.

He was looking at their hand when Diane noticed and wondered why he had such a blank expression while staring at their held hands.

She couldn’t read him at all. Did he like it or not?

“By the way, Alice,” she jumped on Alice’s back, pushing her forward and her grip on Leo’s hand naturally loosened.

He would naturally take this opportunity to slip his hand out but for some reason, he hesitated.

“Come on, don’t jump on me like that, you’re heavy,” Alice complained.

“Tch, you’re so petty. You have all that strength but can’t handle my weight?”

“Doesn’t that tell a lot?” Alice asked, rolling her eyes away, and Diane’s mouth fell open as she gasped in disbelief.

“You… I can’t believe you. I weigh as light as a feather!” She demanded, dragging Alice’s ear and Alice wondered why she even talked.

Diane was so hard to handle when she decided she wanted to be annoying.

Leo ended up holding Alice’s hand tightly despite the opportunity he was given to let go.

He squinted his eyes, trying to understand why he didn’t take the opportunity but that answer didn’t come. Rather, more confusion hit him.

He just couldn’t get it.

Had he grown that attached to Alice?

Diane glanced at him and then at their hands.

Why didn’t he let go?

Could she take this as him not wanting to let go of Alice? This guy was very confusing. His expression didn’t even show anything for her to guess his intentions.

‘They say the unreadable ones are the ones you should be wary of, cause they could be the most dangerous,’ she thought and then rolled her eyes away. ‘Haa, it’s always the quiet ones.’

They finally got to Alice’s doorstop and Diane pushed the doorbell.

“Why are you ringing the bell?” Alice asked her.

“‘Cause we need to know if he’s home.”

“But it’s my house too. I mean, I don’t pay rent, but I live here, so I can just go in.” Alice said and Diane

“Oh, so you realize you live here, yet you don’t bother to pay rent, you make the owner of the house feed you all the time, and still shamelessly ask why I rang the bell when you went away for so long?” She dropped her hands on her waist. “I’m sure you didn’t even contact him once, so have some human decency, shut up, and ring the bell again.”

Alice pouted. Why was she getting so mad anyway?

She didn’t contact anyone cause there was no reception where she was, and… Ah, so maybe there was a reception, but she didn’t even use her phone aside when she needed to check the news or get a location on another gate.

She needed time to clear her mind concerning her family issue. It seemed like it had been settled, but in her heart, there was so much regret and what-ifs, so even when she saw the numerous messages sent to her by her friends and take she was close with, she couldn’t even bring herself to read them.

Sympathy? Pity? Attachment?

She didn’t have to think of any of that. In fact, she didn’t want to think of them and that’s why she poured her all into her training.

This time wasn’t the time to live carefree. She could only have a settled mind after she destroyed the monsters from the second calamity. Then, they would have over four years before the third calamity, red eye hit.

Alice sighed.

“It’s not like you’d even believe me if I told you why I didn’t reach out.” She mumbled and Diane went silent.
