Chapter 2136: Walking on the surface of the sun

Anita, Akita, Oni, and Alita were fully immersed in the teachings engraved within the fabric of the Fifth Ring, slowly and gradually deciphering the teachings of the next Aspect of The Flow. They put everything they had in this mission, yet even after months of relentless effort, they were only beginning to perceive the faint shimmer of the Light of the Flow.

Meylin had advanced farther than the others. She had already managed to see the Light with her own eyes, though she still could not decipher the next step — how to let that power move within her. She had witnessed its strength before, how the Flow could revolve around one’s existence and become a weapon of devastating power — as when the Crimson Exarch had faced Black Mask. But no matter how hard she tried, the answer continued to elude her.

Despite the difficulty, none of them gave up. They might have different goals when they marched into this Sacred Dimension. Yet now, after tasting the power of The Flow and the wonders it granted, they wanted more.

Then, suddenly, a golden flash forced them all to shield their eyes. When they turned toward its source, awe filled their faces. Cain’s entire body blazed with a divine, majestic light — golden and pure, radiant enough to illuminate the surroundings. The current flowed within him with such strength and harmony that it seemed as though he stood at the heart of a living sun.

In that instant, they all understood. While they had been striving toward enlightenment without success, Cain had already found the answer — and not merely found it, but refined it. The Light of the Flow coursed through his body like blood through veins, every pulse synchronized with the rhythm of creation itself.

Their eyes shone with longing and curiosity. Each of them wished to ask for the key forward, to know how he had achieved what they could not. Yet they restrained themselves. If they uncovered the secret on their own, their mastery would be deeper, their potential greater. That was precisely why Cain had not shared his enlightenment in the first place.

So the group remained silent, their gazes sharp and focused.

Still, silence did not mean passivity. They could not ask for answers from the Neo-Demon as that would do more harm than good, but they could observe. Studying Cain’s every motion, his every breath, might lead them closer to the truth.

Cain could feel their attention upon him, and he smiled faintly as he agreed with their approach. He neither concealed his method nor made it easy to grasp. If their talent, perception, and perseverance were strong enough, they would find the path themselves.

He continued refining his control. By now, Cain could maintain a conscious revolution of the Light of the Flow throughout his body, spreading it evenly through every cell that forged his flesh and blood. Yet it still required effort. To weaponize it, it would have to become entirely automatic, as natural as breathing, and he was still far from that milestone.

Days blurred into weeks as Cain delved deeper into practice. Two months passed before a faint frown crossed his face.

He was improving — but not enough. The Flow still required guidance; it would not yet move continuously on its own. He had to direct it, sustain it, and each time his focus wavered, the current broke apart. What he sought was effortless continuity: energy that moved through him without rest or resistance, as naturally as air filling his lungs.

Finally, he opened his eyes and gazed at the golden flares rising before him. Slowly, he rose from the ground.

Meylin and the other four immediately focused on the Neo-Demon. They had learned much from observing his meditations, and now it seemed he was going to act — to put theory into practice. Whatever he did next would surely reveal new secrets, perhaps even guide them closer to their own mastery.

Cain inhaled deeply and began to walk forward. The solar surface lay ahead — a realm of radiant destruction, so intense it could melt the flesh of an ArchDeity without effort. Even if one survived the searing ground, the towering solar flares would annihilate them within moments.

Yet as Cain stepped onto the surface, none of that power harmed him.

He stood unharmed atop the living sun, his form surrounded by waves of golden fire, not a single wound marking his flesh. The reason was clear: every stream of energy from the solar surface and flares flowed through him in perfect harmony.

Though it appeared to be a sun, Cain knew the truth — the solar sea and its flares were manifestations of the Light of the Flow itself. By allowing that power to move through him freely, he had become one with it, an extension of the sun’s living essence.

Taking another steady breath, Cain began to walk. His eyes were calm, his expression serene, every atom in his body vibrating in flawless frequency with the solar rhythm surrounding him. The pressure was immense — far greater than merely allowing ambient Light to flow through one’s form. Yet that was precisely the challenge he needed.

Each step forward intensified the strain. Every movement tested his control, his harmony, his understanding of the Flow. The solar currents pressed upon him like an ocean of molten divinity, but he continued forward, one measured step at a time.

He managed one hundred steps before finally stopping. For nearly ten minutes, he stood there motionless amid the storming light, letting the power pass through him, shaping him.

Then he turned and slowly walked back toward the stable edge of the ring.

When he reached solid ground again, his body nearly collapsed. Sweat soaked his skin, and exhaustion washed over him in waves. Yet a quiet smile curved his lips.

He could feel it — subtle but undeniable — his abilities had grown sharper, his connection to the Flow deeper.

“The right amount of pressure,” Cain murmured, “can truly work wonders.”
