Chapter 580: This feeling, it’s a little familiar

The death duel ended before it even started.

There was a dead silence on the training ground.

Irina waved her hand, and a pillar of light appeared in the place where Cael’s corpse lay. When it faded away, the body and the traces of golden blood disappeared.

Many of those present did not pay attention to the color of the blood, as if it was an insignificant incident. However, there were those who noticed it. Since the Awakened Association mostly hid the existence of Beings of Light, they couldn’t figure out what it was related to.

Idan originally wanted to chop off Cael’s head, but after the first swing, he instinctively struck additional blows that cut off both his arms and legs.

“What was that?” he asked himself.

Idan did not want to deal so cruelly and demonstratively with a Being of Light. Yes, he wanted and was going to kill Cael, but not in this way.

“This feeling, it’s a little familiar to me,” he remarked.

It was similar to how he fought with outsiders during the defense of the city in the North. Back then, he used the Soul Force combined with the Energy of Madness to catch and crush the fleeing representative of the Womskinner.

A lot of thoughts and assumptions flashed through Idan’s mind in a short time. He suggested that it might be related to his second Ascension Trial and that it was some kind of special side effect, different from what Arabel had encountered and was able to handle.

Unlike Arabel, Idan had not yet fully mastered the Energy of Madness, and he began to suspect that this was the answer to his problem. He realized that in his case, everything was probably much more complicated than he could have imagined.

Nico, his band, and Iona weren’t too surprised by the outcome of the fight. After recognizing the sword in Idan’s hands, they already guessed how it would end. Their attention was drawn to the color of the blood of Cael, one of the Association’s increasingly popular employees in recent months.

Having had the experience of encountering creatures from other worlds, they immediately suspected something was amiss.

Aliya was very excited and almost screamed, but at the last moment she restrained herself. The young man next to her, looking gloomily at the arena, or rather at Idan, only then turned his gaze to her.

He noticed that Aliya was agitated, but again misinterpreted her feelings and grinned.

Idan was distracted from his thoughts when he felt intruders entering the Kingdom through a portal located on the underground level of their Guild’s Branch building.

“So my guess was correct,” he smiled, putting the sword back into his spatial ring and turning to Irina.

Irina was staring at him intently, and it was difficult for Idan to understand what she was thinking.

When he approached her and held out his hands, she handed him two artifacts of the fifth rank.

Idan, without looking at the artifacts, took them and put them in the ring. Then he looked at Aliya.

She stood with her eyes downcast and trembled. The man next to him was looking at her, and Idan guessed that he was saying something to her.

“Miss Aliya,” — Idan addressed her.

“As a result of our duel, as of today, you are no longer a staff of the Association. Instead of being a prisoner like last time, you will become a full member of our Kingdom Guild,” Idan said, trying not to arouse suspicion from the gathered crowd that he was abducting beautiful young women.

“Huh? What?” — Aliya asked in surprise, trying to look genuinely surprised.

“Do you need to pack your things?” asked Idan.

“No, all my things are with me,” Aliya replied. The guy standing next to her frowned, realizing that something was wrong with Aliya.

“Okay, then let’s go,” Idan said and returned to Nico and the others.

Aliya, pretending to hesitate, hurried after Idan before the guy could stop her.

As a result, no one tried to detain her.

Once she was next to Idan, Aliya breathed a sigh of relief, but continued to play her role.

Idan, on the other hand, had already begun to think of a plan of action for Aliya.

She was a Being of Light, but only of the Golden Rank.

“Who should I offer her to, Milena or Lucinda?” he wondered. “No, we’d better ask both of them. And let everyone try to sign a contract with her. Let’s see who can do it.”

“Let’s go,” Idan said, walking past Nico and his companions.

Hearing his words, they hurried after him, feeling the eyes of the whispering crowd and other Beings of Light on them.

Idan was aware that his actions must have scared the Beings of Light, and that was why they did not take any additional action. He had demonstrated much greater strength than a Golden-ranked creature should possess.

After tonight, Idan was sure that the Beings of Light would become more cautious not only about him, but their Guild as a whole.

“I wonder how Arabel and the others are doing,” Idan thought as he left the Association building.

Idan wasn’t worried about intruders entering the Kingdom. Measures had already been taken against them, and since they were there, there was no turning back for them.

However, Idan still felt some concern about the Eye of the Web. He was absolutely certain that those who had infiltrated the Kingdom couldn’t do without his help. This immediately made the Eyes of the Web the enemy of Idan and Arabel.

After returning to the SUV they had arrived in, Idan and the others returned to the Guild Branch building.

When they returned to the guild branch building, there was no one there. The underground level was empty, and there were no signs of a struggle or forced entry, which confirmed Idan’s suspicions about the involvement of the Eye of the Web in everything that was happening.

Shortly after their return, the first group returned to the branch, led by Bera in the form of the Duchess of Madness.

However, what really surprised Idan was that Arabel wasn’t among them.
