Chapter 578: But not enough

The barrier erected by Arslan reliably protected the group. The thermal imagers turned out to be useless, and because of the dense smoke and the darkness of the night, the armed group of the Black Limit could not see what was happening inside, as well as the group of Irene and Arslan themselves.

The men immediately drew their weapons, which scared Irene and Arslan a little. However, when they saw that they weren’t going to attack them, they heaved a sigh of relief.

The smoke was so thick that even the faint wind in the air couldn’t disperse it quickly.

Meanwhile, Bera had a big smile on her face.

“Act, Bera,” came the command from her Mistress.

“Deal with everyone as quickly as possible, without holding back,” Arabel added, without setting any limits.

“Stay here,” Bera said before rushing out of the barrier and disappearing into the smoke.

“What is she doing?” asked Roy, surprised, watching Bera leave in the guise of the Duchess of Darkness Elsa.

“Don’t worry about her, she knows what she’s doing,” Irene said, keeping her guard up and ready for any eventuality.

As former military personnel who had been through a lot of combat, Roy and the rest of the men were completely calm and focused. Their hands were tightly gripping their machine guns, and their eyes were carefully studying their surroundings.

“Everyone get ready,” the leader of the armed men said, and his gaze turned to Aurel.

Aurel just grinned in response, taking out a black stone from his spatial storage.

“It’s a pity to waste such a valuable item,” he said, looking at the stone, and mentally cursed Arslan, because of whom he had to use this stone.

However, before he could break the stone, Aurel’s instincts warned him of the deadly danger. Summoning all his strength, he deftly dodged to the side.

“Tsch!” — There was a click of the tongue, followed by a disappointed female voice: “Damn, you’re fast.”

Aurel stood on his feet and, turning, saw in front of him a woman in a black uniform with a black hat. The Kingdom Guild emblem was emblazoned on the left breast of her cloak.

“But not enough,” Arabel added with a mocking smile, holding a black stone in her hands.

Only then, looking at the black stone in the woman’s hands, Aurel realized that his right arm had disappeared below the elbow, leaving only a smooth and even cut, from which golden blood gushed.

Having learned from Idan that the Beings of Light also have a black stone, Arabel, who had already experienced the effects of these black stones twice, was ready and was not going to give them a chance to use it.

After removing the stone, she disappeared from sight like lightning, and before the leader of the armed men could raise his weapon and aim, she was already behind him, holding a snow-white sword covered with numerous cracks.

The leader froze for a moment, and then collapsed to the ground, his head, separated from his body, rolled forward.

Aurel was terrified. Pain and surprise momentarily paralyzed his thoughts.

“And I need you alive to answer my questions,” Arabel said, rushing forward to grab him.

At the last moment, Aurel tried to dodge and escape, but due to the restrictions of the world, which reduced his rank to gold, he could not do anything against Arabel. At that moment, she used their system’s unique ability, Ghost Stats, which doubled her _Dexterity stat.

She didn’t give Aurel a single chance. When he tried to take off by jumping up, Arabel first cut off one of his legs. And then, when he materialized two huge and beautiful wings of the element of Light behind his back, she easily chopped them off. After that, she cut off his other leg as well.

Having lost his wings and both legs, Aurel began to fall, but before he could touch the ground, he was grabbed by the throat and lifted up.

Aurel, bleeding profusely, looked at Arabel in horror, and his fear increased when he noticed that he was being held by the throat by the black hair of this woman. As a resident of the incomplete world of Light and Darkness, he knew well what it was like.

“Will you tell me who is hiding behind the nickname Caesar, or will I have to find out by force?” Arabel asked, looking Aurel straight in the eyes, pulling him to her with her black hair.

Aurel grinned and wanted to spit in Arabel’s face, but she wouldn’t let him do it, gagging him with her hair.

Arabel sighed in disappointment, but then a small smile appeared on her face.

“I heard that you all have seals that prevent you from reading memories,” she said, looking at Aurel.

“System, give me a Rank 4 Temporary Seal Suppression Talisman,” she asked.

[The Rank 4 Temporary Seal Suppression Talisman has been sent to your spatial ring. 700 System points were deducted].

“Hmm… 700 System Points,” Arabel said unhappily, looking at Aurel, who had caused her to spend System Points.

Taking out a paper talisman with incomprehensible inscriptions from the ring, she attached it to Aurel’s forehead and activated it. The talisman shone and merged with Aurel’s head, disappearing inside.

“Well, let’s try what my older sister taught me,” Arabel whispered, grabbing Aurel’s head as he writhed in pain.

“Who is hiding behind the name Caesar?” She asked the question and immediately used the memory—reading ability she had learned from Sierra during her last stay in Limbo.

This ability was discovered by Sierra during the study of the Creature of Darkness, with whom she established a symbiotic relationship, after which she gladly shared it with Arabel.

Arabel herself has not yet used this ability on living people, fearing that she might hurt them due to lack of experience.

However, holding Aurel in a firm grip, she used this ability without hesitation or regret.

Aurel screamed in pain, his eyes rolling back in his head. Golden blood gushed out from all the holes in his head, and his body convulsed.

Arabel, not having enough experience, also felt a backlash. Blood started oozing out of her nose and eyes. But despite the pain, she managed to find what she was looking for in Aurel’s surging memories.

“Octavian!” she said with hatred.

She was so angry that she couldn’t control the force she put into her grip. As a result, Aurel’s head burst like a watermelon, spraying golden liquid all around.
