Chapter 571: Are you sure about this?

After listening to Roy’s story, Idan, like Irene and the others, fell into deep thought.

“So that’s how it turned out, isn’t it?” he asked himself.

“Who would have thought? A Secret Private Military Company set up by powerful families called Black Limit.”

Finally, Idan and Arabel found out who was behind the purge of a dark organization that was involved in kidnapping young girls and attacking members of the Queens Guild.

“Hmm,” — Arabel said with a slight grin, and looked intently at the most agitated of the five men.: “As far as I understand, you want us to help you find and bring back the family of this man named Carl?”

“Yes, that’s what we came for,” Roy nodded.

“And you’re so sure that we’ll help you?” Arabel asked with a grin, playing her role as the Duchess of Darkness.

“You have to help us!” exclaimed the man Roy had previously called Steve, whose real name was Carl. He couldn’t contain his emotions and got to his feet again, unable to hold back the scream.

“It was precisely because of the intervention of one of your guild members that our leader had to give in and abandon the task,” he said.

“If he hadn’t done that, nothing would have happened and they wouldn’t have abducted my family!” he exclaimed, overwhelmed with grief and despair.

“Heh,” Arabel said with a slight grin. “You sound like your leader did us a favor.”

“Elsa,” — Idan called to Arabel. Hiding behind her hat, she just smiled and stroked Beru, who began to purr with pleasure.

“I think your leader made the right decision then,” Idan said calmly.

“Let’s assume that we agree to help you find and save this Karl’s family,” Idan shot a quick glance at the man, and then turned back to Roy. “You do understand that in this way we will directly oppose the entire Black Limit PMC?”

“Especially considering that all this is definitely a trap prepared for you, not for us,” Arabel added, hinting that if they decide to help, then conflict cannot be avoided.

“Give us a good reason why we should help you, and what we will gain by supporting you, other than acquiring a dangerous enemy,” Idan said.

The men looked at each other and became worried. They had nothing to offer these famous Guilds. They had a lot more valuable resources than they did.

“Our life,” Roy said with a sigh. “Help save Carl’s family and take them under your protection, and then you will receive our loyalty and promise to serve you.”

Idan silently looked at Roy and then at the other men.

“Yes, we agree with our leader’s words,” they began to express their agreement one by one.

“Tell me, Roy,” instead of answering, Idan turned to Roy through a mental link. “Why did you come to us? Apart from that incident, we have never contacted you. Who advised you to contact us?”

Hearing Idan’s question in his head, Roy was surprised at first. When he fully realized the essence of the question, he was confused for a moment, but then, remembering something, his gaze became serious, and he answered.

“Hmm… so that’s how it is,” Idan said, hearing the name he expected to hear.

“We need some time to think and make a decision,” Idan said, and then asked: “Wait outside the room.”

“Okay,” — Roy agreed without hesitation and got up and left the room. The rest of the men followed, surprised by their leader’s sudden change of mood.

When the men left the room, Idan took out his smartphone from the spatial ring.

“Leo,” he said.

And immediately after his words, the smartphone rang.

“King,” — came Leo’s slightly squeaky voice.

“Leo, can you make sure that no one is eavesdropping on us in this room right now?” asked Idan.

“Don’t worry, King. Before I called you, I checked and reinforced the security in this room. At the moment, no one is watching or eavesdropping on us. If anyone tries to do this, I’ll know right away,” Leo replied.

“Good, well done, Leo,” Idan praised. Then, without turning off his smartphone, he put it on the table in case, as Leo suggested, someone tried to eavesdrop on them. Leo should have warned them about this.

This was just one of the measures taken by Idan.

As a second measure, he reached out to everyone through a mental link.

“What do you think?” he asked everyone.

At that moment, Felicia appeared from the void, with Coco on her shoulder.

“I’m not sure, but from the very beginning of their story, I had a strange feeling that something was wrong in this case,” Felicia shared her doubts.

“There is no doubt that they are telling the truth, but the very fact that they have contacted us seems very strange to me,” she added.

After listening to Felicia’s opinion, the others also began to doubt and notice something unusual.

“Felicia is right,” — Idan agreed. “I suspect that this is a trap created for these men, a deception, but in fact it is intended for us.”

Everyone’s faces became serious.

“Are you sure about this?” asked Arabel.

“Not one hundred percent,” Idan replied. “But the probability of such an outcome is quite high.”

“Considering that it was the Eye of the Web that hinted to them to seek help from us when they were in doubt about what to do in this difficult situation,” Idan added.

“The Eye of the Web?” wondered Irene and the others.

“Yes,” Idan nodded. “I personally clarified this with Roy, and he confirmed that it was not they themselves who came to the decision to ask us for help, but it was the Eye of the Web that gave them a hint of this.”

“Are you saying that he, the Eye of the Web, is behind all this?” asked Arabel with a chill in her voice. She had disliked this mysterious Awakened One from the very beginning.

“Maybe, maybe not,” — Idan replied. “If I understand correctly, the Eye of the Web is acting only in its own interests, and perhaps someone else has asked it for a favor, or perhaps it itself is interested in uncovering the mystery surrounding our Guild.”

“Then what do you suggest we do?” Irene asked Idan.

“Of course, we will help them,” Idan replied confidently, which surprised everyone a lot.
