Capítulo 798: Jack’s Home

In the demon world.

The succubus Emerald walked out of Feb meeting room with a grin expressed on her face.

She did not wait for the others as she quickly headed to the exit portal that would take her to her residence floor.

‘I knew it, I knew they were about to launch another attack again.’ she thought as she walked back and forth in her throne room.

The meeting had been called by the eldest son and not the Demon Lord as she had been informed.

However, he was currently ruling in place of the Demon Emperor, so technically it was as good as a command from the throne itself.

Emerald snorted softly at the thought.

Power really did make people bold.

She stopped pacing and sank back into her obsidian throne, crossing her long legs slowly as her fingers drummed against the armrest.

A week.

Just one week before the Demon Emperor awakened from his deep slumber.

That single piece of information alone had shaken the entire meeting room.

Some had looked excited.

Some had looked terrified.

Others had tried to hide their greed behind loyal expressions.

Emerald had panicked. If the Demon Emperor were to wake up, then the difficulty of her plans of usurping the throne would become much harder.

The eldest son’s voice still echoed in her head.

“The portals will take too long to complete. We move by foot. Prepare your legions. Once the Emperor awakens, the march begins.”

By foot.

Across the dark sea that separated the human and non human continents and straight toward the Human Domain.

It was a reckless plan. The previous failed attempt at taking over the human kingdom had bruised their egos.

And now they wanted revenge.

Emerald lifted her hand and snapped her fingers once. A familiar female demon with horns stepped forward and knelt.

“My Lady.”

“Get me that Demon Lord,” Emerald said lazily.

“Yes, Mistress.” The succubus nodded, and her presence vanished.

Silence returned.

It did not take too long before a horned male demon was led through the door.

If one were to look closely, they would notice a marking on his neck. The mark was the symbol of infinity.

It was the same symbol that was imprinted on every one of Nox pets.

After they had made the deal, Nox had disappeared, and in exchange, the Demon Lord had appeared.

[Chapter reference: 684: returning]

If there was anyone who knew how to contact Nox, Emerald felt that it was this Demon Lord.

“You summoned me, Mistress.” The Demon Lord spoke respectfully, a rare sight.

Usually, the other Demon Lords were rude and arrogant before her, but for some reason, this particular demon was different.

Emerald’s gaze lingered on him for a brief moment longer than necessary, her crimson eyes narrowing slightly as she studied the familiar mark on his neck.

It was definitely because of that marking.

From their few interactions, Emerald had come to understand that this Demon Lord was a puppet of the human. How he was able to do this, she had no idea.

“Yes, I did.” Emerald nodded faintly.

“What is it?” the demon inquired.

Emerald took a deep breath before speaking. “I need you to get in touch with your master. Something just came up. Let him know it is urgent.”

…

Below, Jack, Soren, and Serene were sprinting through the trees in the Luminary Forest. The three of them moved at such speed that it would have been difficult for most people to keep up.

Of course, this did not apply to Nox.

From above, he could make out their shadows dashing in and out of the trees.

He cautiously followed some meters behind, close enough to observe but far enough that those below could not sense his presence.

The longer he watched the three siblings, the more amazed and curious Nox became about their origin.

The humans in this world were just like those back on Earth, where he had originally come from. There were natural limits to what they could do.

However, the three below had clearly surpassed those limits. Their speed was comparable to high level Awakened, perhaps even more.

What was more.

“They could run for hours without getting tired.”

In reality, this was only possible because they possessed multiple personalities. When one became exhausted, another took over.

Suddenly, while flying through the air, Nox sensed a presence behind him. He quickly glanced back.

“Master Eve?” Nox stuttered slightly, shocked.

Behind him, flying atop a wyvern that Nox recognized as his grandfather’s Doombringer, was the raven haired, ruby eyed demonic necromancer.

“Skullky informed me about everything when I returned,” she said. “Since I was bored, I decided to tag along.”

“Oh…”

Initially, Nox had wanted this to be a one man mission and did not want others interfering. However, since Eve was powerful to begin with, he did not feel she would be a burden.

After a moment of thought, he nodded.

“Alright then,” he agreed, “but try to conceal your aura. I am trying to be discreet.”

She nodded.

The two of them continued flying, trailing the three below for several hours.

At this point, even Eve frowned and could not help but ask who they were.

Even for Awakened, they should have been exhausted by now.

It was only after Nox calmly explained everything that she finally understood.

Some time later, they arrived at the shore, where a small ship was waiting.

Jack stared in the direction of Cromwell one last time. He clenched his fist, thinking back to all the memories he had made there and all the friends he had gained during his stay.

Seeing his hesitation, Soren spoke. “We do not have much time. If we leave early, we can reach home sooner.”

Tightening his grip, Jack stepped into the boat.

After hours of travel, an island with structures that Nox thought looked identical to ancient Roman architecture appeared in the distance.

Seeing the boat head toward the shore of the island, Nox eyes flashed as he spoke quietly to Eve.

“We are here. Let us be careful from here on.”
