Capítulo 789: The Statue

‘They’re monsters… even more than the king described. This isn’t normal strength. This is something else entirely.’ the Valkyrie realized.

Although after the demonic invasion she hadn’t actively participated in battles—since she had been busy running Lumina Bay—she still didn’t think she had grown so weak.

It could only mean one thing… the girl wasn’t just bratty; she actually had strength to back up her words.

Soren watched quietly from the side. “She’ll keep going until one of you can’t move anymore.”

Aina didn’t linger on the floor. She pushed herself up and, without hesitation, lunged forward.

The clash resumed with twice the speed.

Aina’s strikes aimed for vital points. Serene’s movement was erratic and unpredictable, switching between graceful and savage in less than a heartbeat. They darted across the hall, knocking chairs over, slicing through pillars, cracking tiles with every step.

Aina was keeping up—but barely.

She grit her teeth.

‘I can’t drag this out. If her brother joins, I’ll be done for.’

Then it happened.

Serene changed again.

Her pupils thinned. Her aura spiked. Her killing intent turned suffocating.

Soren murmured, “Uh-oh… she shifted to THAT side. You should finish this quickly, Valkyrie. Before she—”

But it was too late.

Serene attacked like a demon unleashed.

She slammed her knee into Aina’s gut, drove an elbow into her ribs, and slashed across her shoulder. Aina blocked the killing blow but was thrown violently into the wall.

Her vision blurred, and she tasted blood on her lips.

Serene approached slowly now, smile wide and feral like a beast.

“Break for me,” she grinned.

Aina forced herself up, but her arms trembled. She raised her sword—and Serene was suddenly behind her.

Before Aina could turn, the blade came down. At the nick of time, she threw herself back, barely escaping the lethal strike.

Right then, Soren spoke. “Enough.”

Serene froze mid-dash. Her head turned slowly toward her brother, expression twisted with annoyance. “Why? I wasn’t done. She’s strong. I like strong people. Let me finish.”

“No.” His voice dropped. “I can sense more presences coming.”

Serene stared at him for three seconds.

Then she clicked her tongue in irritation. “Fine.”

Her aura vanished instantly, like a switch being flipped. Without another glance at Aina, she sheathed her swords and walked toward her brother.

Soren stood up, brushing imaginary dust from his clothes. “This was fun. Truly. But we’ll have to continue later.”

Aina tried to speak, but her throat burned. She could barely keep herself upright.

“You two… won’t leave this kingdom,” she forced out, voice hoarse.

Soren smiled calmly. “Oh, we are not planning to… we planned on staying here for a long time.”

With that, the twins turned their backs on her and walked toward the window, their footsteps echoing through the hall.

With a moment of hesitation, they jumped out of the window.

Aina rushed forward and reached the ledge in time to see them land smoothly on the ground. Her eyes flashed… she clearly didn’t sense any energy from them, yet they survived a fall from over five stories without any form of protection. It was incomprehensible.

As she was watching, the doors burst open and guards rushed in. “Miss Aina! Are you—?!”

“Contact the capital,” she said immediately, cutting the guard off. “No one should be allowed entry or exit.”

“Yes, Mistress!” the guards echoed before sprinting out to carry out the order.

Once they were gone, Aina looked outside in the direction the twins had fled and clenched her fist.

…

Back in Tristan Kingdom, Nox, Luthair, and Jack were standing right in front of the door that led to the room where the supposed statue of Terra was.

“Are you sure it’s truly in there?” Luthair asked one last time, doubt creeping into his voice.

“Well, the map indicates that it’s here,” Nox replied.

“There’s only one way to find out.” Jack smirked.

Nox stepped forward and slowly pushed the door open.

The moment his palm touched the surface, the entire hallway shook violently as ancient mechanisms awakened.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Luthair staggered. “This reaction—just from your touch…?”

“I don’t know, but I think it’s responding to my class,” Nox explained, only half certain.

Jack’s jaw dropped. He knew Nox was strong—everyone did—but seeing a castle tremble from a single touch was something else entirely.

The giant door cracked down the middle and slowly opened. A cold breeze rolled out.

They stepped inside.

What greeted them was a vast underground hall… bigger than anything that should have existed beneath the castle. Pillars rose into the ceiling. Hanging lanterns—still glowing after who knows how many years—bathed the chamber in a soft white light.

But none of that mattered.

All eyes locked onto the colossal statue at the center.

A woman carved entirely from crystal, long hair flowing like water, posture serene. One hand rested on a stone beast; the other lifted toward the ceiling.

Those perky ears were unmistakable.

It was Terra, the Goddess of Beast Taming.

Luthair nearly fell to his knees. “I… I never knew Tristan held something so sacred…”

“This is why I came,” Nox said softly. “Tristan was chosen long ago. Even before Darius. Even before your ancestors.”

Luthair swallowed hard. “Then… introducing the Beast Taming class here… this is destiny?”

It was always meant to be. What if the ancestors of Tristan had once been Beast Tamers?

“Pretty much,” Nox nodded.

The king let out a shaky laugh. “Darius would be furious. He always wanted Tristan to stand on its own… and now a divine class ends up hidden under our feet.”

“No,” Nox corrected calmly. “He would be happy. This is what he wanted. A future that doesn’t rely on strength alone… but on bonds.”

“So what now, Nox?” Luthair asked, stepping closer to the statue. “Is this where the awakening happens?”

Nox thought about it for a moment. Having it here would mean it was more secure…

All they had to do was build another entrance from here to the outside so the public could access it safely.

Unaware of the danger in his Kingdom, he smiled faintly as he declared. “Yes, the Awakening would take place here.”
