Chapter 764: Light Vs Darkness

Nox’s blade glowed white. The pressure around him changed instantly—the light condensed, sharper, purer. He pushed forward, slicing through the swarm. For a moment, everything went silent… until Kaelen appeared right in front of him.

Their weapons met again.

CRAAASH!

The shockwave reached the city above. Entire coral towers shook. Soldiers screamed as debris rained down.

Thalasar steadied himself on the balcony, watching the two figures warp the sea itself. His face was grim. “That boy… he’s matching Kaelen’s corruption with light itself.”

Lyra clenched her fists. “Can he win?”

The king didn’t answer. He could sense both powers—Nox’s light was pure but unstable, while Kaelen’s darkness was bottomless, constantly expanding.

Below, Nox flipped backward, avoiding a sweeping strike that carved through the seabed like butter.

Kaelen’s grin widened. “You fight like her too—reckless, relentless, and bound by light.”

“I’m nothing like her,” Nox shot back.

“Oh, you are. You think you’re chosen. But chosen ones always fall the hardest.”

Dark tendrils burst from the water behind Kaelen, lashing out. Nox cut them apart one by one, his sword glowing brighter with every swing.

Then Kaelen vanished.

Nox’s instincts screamed.

He turned—

THUD!

A black spear shot through his guard, grazing his cheek. The aura burned his skin.

Kaelen appeared behind him, whispering, “Too slow.”

Nox twisted mid-spin, slamming his foot into Kaelen’s side. The impact sent both of them hurtling in opposite directions.

They stopped several meters apart, both breathing hard.

The surrounding water boiled from their combined energy, crackling with tendrils of lightning, light, and shadow.

Kaelen chuckled lowly, his voice resonating through the sea. “Impressive. But tell me, how long can that divine speed of yours last?”

Nox didn’t respond. He adjusted his grip, aura pulsing brighter. He couldn’t let the fight drag out—Kaelen’s corruption was spreading faster than expected. Even now, black particles drifted through the currents like dust, infecting coral and seaweed wherever they touched.

If this continued, the entire sea would become another Scourge zone.

He dashed forward again. Their clash illuminated the depths—gold and black colliding like suns and moons.

“Your light will fade!” Kaelen roared, striking downward.

“You wish!” Nox countered.

BANG!

The impact created a crater that swallowed the surrounding reefs. Energy rippled outward in concentric waves.

Up above, Thalasar gritted his teeth. “We must reinforce the barrier! Now!”

Dozens of mages chanted in unison, pouring mana into the city’s defense crystal. A shimmering dome expanded, blocking the shockwaves—but hairline cracks began forming instantly.

Even the Sea King couldn’t believe the pressure those two were unleashing. He subconsciously compared himself to them and felt an unfamiliar chill crawl down his spine.

Deep below, Kaelen’s laughter echoed again, wild and unrestrained. “This power… you feel it, don’t you? The Ninth Element is absolute!”

“Absolute?” Nox’s voice was sharp. “It destroyed everything it touched!”

“And it will again!” Kaelen thrust forward, his spear turning into a black beam. The blast slammed into Nox, tearing through his light barrier. The explosion buried him in debris.

Kaelen raised his arm, darkness swirling around him. “Going against the Queen was the biggest mistake of your life.”

“Tsk. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but I can confidently tell you—going against the Scourge Queen isn’t one of them!”

From within the smoke, a faint light began to glow.

Kaelen’s smile faded slightly. A brief look of shock crossed his face, but he quickly regained composure, smirking. “Oh?”

The rubble exploded outward!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Nox stepped forward—his armor cracked, blood trailing down his chin—but his eyes burned brighter than ever with determination.

“I told you,” he said, raising his sword, “I’ll never let the Scourge repeat.”

He clasped a hand over his chest.

Divine light surged around him, crackling across his body like lightning strikes, making him look like a war god.

Kaelen’s expression finally twisted into a scowl, his spine tingling.

BOOOOOM!

Pillars of light erupted in every direction. The sea itself turned white. Each beam sliced through Kaelen’s shadow constructs like divine judgment.

Kaelen screamed as the light struck him, burning through his armor. He crossed his spear to block—but the beams kept coming, relentless.

FWOOOOOM! FWOOOOOM! FWOOOOOM!

The entire trench became a storm of light.

Above, even Thalasar shielded his eyes, a proud smile slowly spreading across his face.

When the radiance finally faded, Kaelen was kneeling, smoke rising from his body. His armor was in tatters, and parts of his spear had melted.

But he was still smiling.

He looked up slowly, eyes gleaming. “So that’s your limit.”

Nox lowered his sword, breathing hard. “If you’re still standing after that, then I’m impressed.”

“Oh, I’m not done yet.” Kaelen grinned wider as he snapped his fingers and a dark crystal appeared in his hand. “Did you think I’d rely on borrowed power alone?”

The darkness surged again, stronger than before. It wasn’t just corruption—it was something deeper, rawer. The abyss itself seemed to breathe.

Nox’s pupils narrowed. “That’s not the Ninth Element…”

“You finally noticed.” Kaelen’s voice distorted. “The Scourge Queen… she gave me something extra. A special treasure.”

A pulse of pure void energy exploded from the crystal. The trench disintegrated. Everything within hundreds of meters turned to ash and dust as if a nuclear weapon had been launched there.

Nox barely managed to flee backward, forming countless light barriers. The force shattered them instantly, sending him crashing into a rock wall.

Blood filled the water.

Kaelen floated in the center of the devastation, laughing like a mad god. “Do you see it now?! This is evolution!”

Nox wiped the blood from his mouth, glaring up at him. “That’s not evolution… that’s madness.”

Kaelen raised his spear overhead. “Then drown in madness!”

The spear expanded into a massive black vortex, spiraling with destructive energy.

Nox’s chest tightened. If that thing detonated, Aquaria would be gone.

He didn’t have time to think. His instincts screamed, and he responded.

“Divine Velocity!”

The sea flashed gold as he moved—faster than ever before—slamming directly into Kaelen with enough force to split the vortex apart.

Their collision birthed a singularity of light and shadow. The water evaporated. Space itself trembled.

For a moment, time froze.

Then—

KRAAAASH!

The explosion ripped through the trench, forming a massive underwater storm that tore apart everything within miles.

From above, Thalasar’s soldiers watched in horror as the ocean glowed black, white, and gold, colliding in a chaotic swirl.

When the light cleared, both figures were gone.

Only the shattered remains of the trench remained with a colossal scar cutting through the seafloor.

Silence fell.

“Did he do it? Where are they?” Dorana spoke first, breaking the silence.

AN: Good day, everyone. Sorry for the lack of chapters in recent days—I sincerely apologize. Most of you might not know, but I’ve been struggling with severe creative exhaustion for months now. I considered taking a break, but webnovels tend to lose traction when there are no updates for a while, and that’s something I’m trying to avoid.

The book is already doing poorly in the rankings because of this, but I promise to push through this phase.

Don’t forget to support! Perhaps if the book does really well, I’ll be more motivated and finally overcome this writer’s block.
