Chapter 736: Scourge Queen

Which other existence could possibly be stronger than the Lich Court out here in the human domain? The envoy couldn’t think of any other person or organization that had the influence like theirs.

Of course, there was the False Hope Church, but that organization was more concerned with assassination than world dominion.

It couldn’t possibly be them… So who? The witch’s mind spun, or could it be Number 1 was simply bluffing?

‘Based on his reputation, this far… he’s not someone to flirt around.’ she recalled, her eyes narrowed.

Seeing that she was in dilemma, a faint smile touched Number 1’s lips. “I wouldn’t want to reveal this to you at other times, but since you would depart anyway, there’s no harm in telling you.”

“What do you mean by depart?” The witch’s eyes narrowed, not liking the way Number 1 sounded at all.

Number 1 didn’t respond and instead stepped forward while saying in a deep voice. “Our new ally is the Scourge Queen of the dragons.”

Dragons? Scourge Queen? Those were not a good combination at all. As a high-ranking witch of the Lich Court, she was very privileged to a lot of information.

And in one of the Queen’s diaries, she had mentioned a powerful corrupted dragon. There wasn’t much information about the Scourge Dragons, but even the Queen seemed to have been terrified of it.

And now the Flaming Rose had this powerful existence as an ally? What were their goals, and why would they side with an organization like the Order of Flaming Rose?

Number 1 chuckled and continued, “She came to me herself and offered power far greater than your witchcraft and necromancy. With her, I have no use for your Court.”

With this much information revealed, the envoy didn’t think Number 1 would easily let her go just like that, and so she began to think of a way to escape, frantically looking around.

However, she was deep underground inside enemy territory. How could she possibly escape?

Number 1’s eyes flashed, and a cruel smile tugged at his lip. It felt as if he could easily see through her thoughts and plans.

Her instincts screamed at her. She gulped nervously and began to gather mana for a spell—

But then Number 2’s towering form vanished right in front of her eyes.

Moments later, a chill breath brushed her ear. “You thought you were safe. You were wrong.”

‘Bastard!’ she clenched her teeth.

Before she could scream, his hand punched through her chest. Blood sprayed across the floor. Her spell died in her throat as her body collapsed lifelessly.

Thud!

Number 1 raised his voice. “From today, the Lich Court is our enemy. Let the Queen hear of it when her envoy does not return.”

Number 30 lifted his head and asked in a shaky voice, “Leader… what about their retaliation?”

“Let them come,” Number 1 said coldly. “By the time they act, it will be too late. The Scourge Queen stands with us. Together, we will erase the Awakened—and anyone in our way.”

—

Back in the Cromwell Kingdom, in the royal capital…

It had been two weeks since the roles were assigned for the new kingdom, and thus far everyone was carrying out their duty.

The grand academy, which was twice the size of Cromwell Royal Academy, had been set up as well.

Most of the students were former pupils of the Vermilion Royal Academy or those who had reached the right age for admission. They were all admitted to this academy.

Of course, because the academy wasn’t useful to him anymore, Nox and his friends didn’t join.

“If Celine was here, without a doubt she would opt to be a teacher and be closer to the children,” Nox commented.

He was currently on the balcony overlooking the sprawling academy complex, bustling with excited students.

Some were even sparring on the field, and naturally, a few small fights broke out from time to time.

Beside Nox was Nyx, and she was observing the scenery with her brother. Hearing what he said, a rare smile touched her lips as she nodded. “Definitely… but I trust Wendy would do an even better job.”

“Yeah, she would.” Nox nodded, as if in a daze.

“Well, that’s not what brought me here.” Nyx suddenly revealed. “Mother said a few sea pirates had been spotted in our waters, and they made an attempt to hijack our ships, making it difficult for neighboring kingdoms to conduct business with us.”

“Pirates?” Nox questioned. He had been in this world for quite some time now, and it was safe to say he hadn’t come across a pirate yet.

He almost thought they didn’t exist here.

“Yes, these pirates are from the Imperia and Snowhelm,” Nyx explained. “They’ve been disturbing the waterways for almost a decade now.”

“A decade?” Nox’s eyes widened. He couldn’t imagine the kind of power they had gathered.

“So you’re telling me these pirates survived the war?”

Nyx shrugged. “The fights had largely been on the ground, so it makes sense. A few attempts had been made to get rid of them, but they proved to be very stubborn and cunning.”

“As for Mother, she is very busy, so she doesn’t have time for that now.”

“I see,” Nox mumbled under his breath.

“I haven’t been in any fight for some time now,” Nox muttered. His eyes sharpened as he turned away from the field of sparring students.

Nyx caught the glint in his gaze and sighed. “You’re thinking of going after them, aren’t you?”

“Of course,” Nox replied flatly. “If they’re bold enough to harass our ships, they’re bold enough to try worse. Better to deal with them before they grow even more arrogant.”

Nyx’s lips curved in a faint smirk. “Mother anticipated you’d say that. She told me to let you handle it if you’re interested.”

While they were talking, a knock echoed behind them. A guard entered, bowing low. “My lord, a messenger from the coastal watch has arrived. They report a pirate vessel spotted near the southern bay.”
